Here's a bit of "insider confession" from a fellow editor who had the pleasure of sitting next to Abbey Lee during a formal industry-type dinner in Florence, Italy.
"First of all, she was beyond skinny - she was deathly skinny and pale (this was Gucci Flora era Abbey). Secondly, she wasn't really there in the room with the rest of us. High on something, maybe. And finally, she had nasty table manners. Unlike some models who would just not eat, or would just pick at their food, Abbey Lee would take a mouthful, chew it, and spit it out into a napkin in her hand. She "ate" an entire risotto that way - chew, spit, chew, spit. By the end of dinner, she was holding a big, damp ball of spat-out risotto wrapped in that napkin. She didn't do it furtively. She just chewed and spat openly. Finally, she left the ball of spat-out food on the table."

No way, my brain just can't wrap itself around the fact that anyone could actually do that openly at a public event
^ agreed! my perception of her has definitely changed for the worse
Well, first off nobody can say if this is 100% true or not (things get distorted and exaggerated and some people straight up lie for whatever reason), but if it is, well, can't say I'm really shocked or anything.
Really? I don't know...maybe I've been in too much trouble in my life and/or hung out with the wrong sort of people but I've seen people do way worse in public...
But why though? I'm just curious. My perception is very much the same whatever she may have done in public/private. Everything has a price and every coin has its flipside. Obviously I don't know her or anything, but in my (limited) experience, the beautiful, elegant, skinny, ethereal and all of those things, they don't exist in a void on their own, there is a dark and ugly side to everything.
Not meaning to start anything just my 2c.

Good point, I understand that no one's perfect. I think the primary reason for our disgust is that there's a certain level of professionalism that has to be maintained, given that it was a formal industry dinner. The way she acted was definitely not professional.
