Abbey Lee Kershaw

She was in London at the same time the Gucci campaign was shot by Mert & Marcus.

Here's a bit of "insider confession" from a fellow editor who had the pleasure of sitting next to Abbey Lee during a formal industry-type dinner in Florence, Italy.

"First of all, she was beyond skinny - she was deathly skinny and pale (this was Gucci Flora era Abbey). Secondly, she wasn't really there in the room with the rest of us. High on something, maybe. And finally, she had nasty table manners. Unlike some models who would just not eat, or would just pick at their food, Abbey Lee would take a mouthful, chew it, and spit it out into a napkin in her hand. She "ate" an entire risotto that way - chew, spit, chew, spit. By the end of dinner, she was holding a big, damp ball of spat-out risotto wrapped in that napkin. She didn't do it furtively. She just chewed and spat openly. Finally, she left the ball of spat-out food on the table."

:hmm:

No way, my brain just can't wrap itself around the fact that anyone could actually do that openly at a public event :wtf:

thats absolutely repulsive, how can a model (let alone anyone) present themselves like that in public?

^ agreed! my perception of her has definitely changed for the worse :(

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. The chewing and spitting thing is nasty enough, but not even bothering to throw the crap away? I feel so bad for the people who were sitting at the same table as her. Ugh, that is more revolting than Cara's stupid faces and Lindsey's stupid face combined.

Well, first off nobody can say if this is 100% true or not (things get distorted and exaggerated and some people straight up lie for whatever reason), but if it is, well, can't say I'm really shocked or anything.

Really? I don't know...maybe I've been in too much trouble in my life and/or hung out with the wrong sort of people but I've seen people do way worse in public...

But why though? I'm just curious. My perception is very much the same whatever she may have done in public/private. Everything has a price and every coin has its flipside. Obviously I don't know her or anything, but in my (limited) experience, the beautiful, elegant, skinny, ethereal and all of those things, they don't exist in a void on their own, there is a dark and ugly side to everything.

Not meaning to start anything just my 2c.

Good point, I understand that no one's perfect. I think the primary reason for our disgust is that there's a certain level of professionalism that has to be maintained, given that it was a formal industry dinner. The way she acted was definitely not professional.

Thanks for sharing this... I really hope she was high on something that temporarily messed with her behaviour, because if it's her normal table manners.... :run: Not that drugs are a good excuse, but still better than if that's the way she usually is, if the story is true.

Fair enough yes, unprofessional of course.

You, my friend, are wise.

All the way. I'm just used to an array of behaviors that people usually find shocking, which leads me to believe that I too hung out with the wrong people in the past.
I do agree that it's beyond unprofessional to present yourself in this way at a public place, such as a restaurant dinner, as you have a reputation to maintain in order to be booked (obviously, there's potentially the danger of losing work, since renowned brands are careful who to choose. Then again, Cara is working so much that this is obviously not such a rigid rule. They should reintroduce these standards for models and politicians again imo haha)
I'm also OK with separating a professional's body of work/talent from their personalities. I'm not an agency and I don't care what's like to actually work with someone - I just see the end result.

Regarding my last post (the insider confession), I wasn't very shocked to hear it. Abbey Lee has always seemed like a don't-give-a-fuck person so this sort of behavior seems very fitting for her. Of course it wasn't professional at all, but honestly, who cares if a model acts like a boor (Cara Horseface Debratchild) outside but shows up on time at shoots, looks great and works professionally?

Sorry if any of those are reposts!
