Mischa Barton

All the above, and the fact that I'm sure drugs and cigarettes had a great part to play on her lower weights. In order to get healthy she might have to deal with the rebound gain for a while before she gets back to whatever is natural for her body. I hope she finds that, because lord knows swinging so severely between the extremes is not healthy for the body or mind

Good point. I often think this when someone who was tiny suddenly becomes normal sized. They just realize their health (and in some cases their sanity) takes priority. In the long run I do think gaining weight is better than ending up in a serious substance addiction/rehab/eating disorder.

Are there any images of her before she was famous? Did she drop a bunch of weight right before getting into the spot light? Anyone know?

I think she was a skinny kid:

I feel really sorry for her... She must know everyone will be comparing her to her OC days. She just looks so miserable! C'mon Mischa, get it together!

Okay, she turned into a fatty (again). That happens and stuff and yeah... BUT WHY THE HELL DOES SHE WEAR HOTPANTS TO SHOW IT TO THE WHOLE WORLD?! Girl, even need to be an attention whore when it comes to your cellulite?

Or her metabolism could've just slowed down....

Slowed to the degree that it reverted into negative metabolism and started absorbing nutrients surrounding her? :hmm:

"Slow metabolism" is a rubbish excuse; most overweight and obese people have a higher basal metabolic rate than the average because of the greater skin surface area available for heat loss, carrying extra weight, etc. Yes, it isn't as fast post-puberty but that doesn't create a justification for mass gain; you have to fuel growth.

I think the new pics look like some weird unrealistic photoshop...

Her mid section, though... it's so THICK. You can see how wide her belly looks and how lumpy it is underneath her clothes. I don't think that's photoshop...

oh my god, and her crotch looks ENORMOUS. guuuuhhhhblah :superpuke:

I KNOW it's not shopped, but it surely LOOKS like itttt ;)))

It actually can, it depends on how much it's slowed down....

She's not in her 40s, 50s, or 60s... metabolism doesn't slow down that much until your hormone levels change. Sorry, but no, someone's been eating too much :hmm:

Well, anything can happen. And yeah, I think she's been eating too much, too. It's pretty obvious. Although I had a friend who used to be 100 lbs and 5'5 till she was in 20 and then BOOM, she isn't like Mischa exactly now but is like 140 lbs, and she kept eating the same and stuff...

Sorry, but I agree with Zerodiet. Metabolism slowing down, would result in a more natural progression of weight gain. It can happen pretty quick but not like this. It doesn't happen like that unless there is actually something wrong, an underlying disorder or something. There is no way the body would allow that. Sorry, but I think she's eating wayyyyy too much. Also, other previous posts suggest she's struggling with her weight, at one point she's trying to lose weight and now she's ballooned up.

Well your metabolism changes in your early 20s too. Why do you think you stop growing? Hormonal changes. I bet your friend ate a "bit more" than "just the same stuff". Either that or she's a freak of nature and should have lab studies conducted on her...

Yes @ZeroDiet and @classichic! Her weight has fluctuated, it hasn't just gone gradually up, you don't 'yo yo' after a metabolism change. And if your metabolism slowed down that dramatically and you were ever in control and healthy towards food in the first place, you would adjust your intake and work outs accordingly to maintain a healthier weight. But no, girl has issues from the looks of it.

looked for some pictures of her as marissa, and was suprised that even there she already yoyo-ed a bit.
i thought she was always tiny at this time, and her face looks good here, but her thighs...
