Skinny Fitness Content

Maria Khoreva, a Russian ballet dancer. Maria is 22 years old and a soloist with the Mariinsky theatre.
I believe she's been mentioned in this thread already, although barely. In my opinion, she deserves her own post.

Even though her legs are a tiny bit too bulky for my liking, I find her upper body absolutely incredible. Her tiny arms and flat chest left me in awe. :luv:
Besides, she has her own YouTube channel. I'm definitely going to be trying out some of her workout routines soon!

Looks uncomfortably chunky to me and the way she’s posing to try create a thigh gap in each photo is not only embarrassing but is the stuff of my physio’s nightmares.

Seems about right…

Googled out of curiosity and that last tub she’s holding is “high protein ice cream” not even yogurt, a 200 calorie protein bar as a casual snack, tacos, and all that on a day with huge helping of gross looking noodles?

For me girls with bodies like this living in their polyester sets that that I see in workout classes are some of my greatest reverse-spo honestly and a constant reminder to self that personally I don’t want to sweep myself up in some ignorant cult of working out and instead always want to be focusing on learning proper form and training internal muscles. (E.g. the reason that you see chunky stomachs with a six pack is because it’s easy to work the external abs by ignorant brute force, while activating and training the transversus abs, the “corset” muscle, has to be learnt. For me the point of personal training etc. as opposed to going out and plowing a field is to learn to work postural muscles that will give me graceful form in my everyday movements.)

These girls exert so much effort doing workouts on large manual labor muscles and spend so much time “getting enough protein” etc. in so they can exercise and feel virtuous in this prodigious Sisyphean labor… of maintaining an aggressively average body.

In your opinion what’s the best way to work those internal corset muscles? Anything other than stomach vacuums?

In terms of weights, if you could only own one set of weights, I've found from personal experience (and from hearing it from models who "lift") 2 kgs are the best suited. They are versatile: just heavy enough to challenge you (especially by adding a certain cardio element) without being 'too' heavy, and work great for both upper and lower body.

I agree. I like to follow her workouts with 2 kgs weights and I've seen the best results. 😍

I’ve been doing some research since I’ve been having ballet content pop up.

I’ve decided to post this chart with weight requirements for ballerinas at the Vaganova School in Russia - I found it rather ironic my goal weight is their ideal weight for my height. It’s also notably stricter on the foreigners as well. :).

I thought some of you ladies may find it interesting:

Top table is girls height/weigh requirement, the bottom one is boys.

The column on the left indicates the height (in cm), the column next to it indicates the corresponding weight (in kg).

Example:

The ideal weight for a 174cm (5.7ft) tall girl is 49.8kg (109.8lb)
The ideal weight for a 168cm (5.5ft) tall girl is 45.7kg (100lb)
The ideal weight for a 155cm (5ft) tall girl is 37kg (81.5lb)

Weight fluctuation allowed for girls over 170cm (5.5ft) tall: +/- 2kg (4.4lb)
Weight fluctuation allowed for girls under 169cm (5.5ft) tall: +/- 1kg (2.2lb)

Girls who weigh over 50kg (110lb) will have very limited access to partnering classes, to protect the boys from potential injuries.

oh. I see. I’m so sorry, I should’ve checked more thoroughly. My friend and I went through a rabbit hole last night since he’s studying history and he told me about ballet in the 70’s and prior and how seriously the tsars took it, so eventually the practises became less strict since parents began inquiring into deaths and whatnot. :)

It is indeed great for posture. A lot of ballerinas do Pilates in conjunction with ballet to avoid injury and also helps lengthen you and aid with posture too. Also, any good arm and shoulder exercises totally adjust your back or so I’ve seen.

Eilish McColgan is a distance runner that holds the European record for the 10k road race. I love her upper body. Her legs may be thicker than much of the community goes for but she is noticeably less bulky in the legs than many other runners. She's also in her 30's and her performance is only improving!

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I find this so uplifting and endearing. Maria Khoreva and Anna Shcherbakova on Anna’s Instagram stories today. I’m not sure if it’s a recent photo since Anna reposts a lot of old stuff, but I think it is.

You always see fat celebrities hanging out like Taylor Swift and her ensemble of atrocities in particular - beyond models you never see any notable skinnies in the media together. 🤮. Thought some of you ladies may appreciate it too.
