Eminem was my Best friend when i moved to the States. No one Can express anger like he does! But he has changed sooo much.... I miss the 'old' eminem
OMG ikr?!?! A lot of his songs (The Way I Am, Sing for the Moment, Till I Collapse, Go To Sleep, Lose Yourself, Cleaning Out My Closet, Kill You, Kim, etc) sound like he's shouting into the mic, which I love because it makes his songs sound more passionate (not exactly what I mean, but I can't think of a better word
).
I love how versatile he is though. And his lyrical flow is like none other
His overall technique is just amazing, which is why I love him so much
Sometimes I find myself dancing to his songs, which is weird because they're raps...
And yeah, he has changed a lot from the angry, controversial rapper he used to be. But I guess the change was kinda inevitable considering he has matured so much over the years :/ On the other hand, I don't think the old Eminem is completely gone. Almost Famous, Seduction, On Fire, So Bad, and Cold Wind Blows (all from Recovery) reminded me of his old Slim Shady days. Recovery was the bestselling album of 2010 though, so it's glad to see that him becoming more mainstream is paying off
I feel like I'm one of the only people that liked Relapse better than Recovery though. I liked how twisted his songs were, and I didn't think his accents were a problem at all. Technique wise, it wasn't as customary though (it was more creative and experimental) so I can understand why it received mixed views from critics. However, I agree with this critic that said "Em works wonders with words, expanding the boundaries of the art of rap itself [...] the composition is experimental and abstract, a master toying with form".
He's working on a new album btw! Can't wait for it to come out
Already started saving up for concert tickets
ETA: Had to edit some stuff in.
