Models By Relation

Do you mind models who are only signed because of who they are related to?

Kendall/Gigi/Lily/Bella (with surgery, as she couldn't work at all without it) would be doing the kinda embarrassing e-comm, low-end commercial, and low-end bikini/protein shake gigs (but these jobs definitely pay). The taller girls could still get signed but would in no way be pegged for hf, rather, put in fashion week show packages or doing editorials. "Development/New Face" boards are mostly for new hf girls--from there (depending on how well you do) you get either get dropped or move on to Women's/Direct/Fitness/Curve/Fit-Showroom depending on the agency. I might be wrong but this has just been my overwhelmingly consistent experience since I've been around.
Thanks for the insight :flower:

Don't bikini/protein-shake gigs still usually just take girls with high follower counts, though? I thought they usually went for girls like Gabby Epstein and Acacia Brinley with lots of followers directly through social media rather than through a real agency.

I remember talking about Kendall with some friends recently during FW and the general consensus was that if Kendall wasn't a Jenner she could probably still be a model, but just be with a smaller agency and not be nearly as successful, out there pounding the pavement like everyone else.

She could be a "model" but not a model. Apparently your friends have never noticed how totally plain and unremarkable her appearance is, in every way.

@IcedAmericano is probably one of those tweens desperate for famous people to notice them. She probably has an "artistic photographer" friend who took her pictures and uploaded them to IG.
We all know that if your picture gets +25 likes on IG the modeling farie automatically makes you a legitimate model.

Designers and brand are benefiting from these girls and their huge following, they don't seem to care how mediocre they are as long as they bring $$$ and attention.

I have wondered about this.
Are there any numbers / financial reports that actually proof that these 'models' have an longterm effect....like longer than the famous 5 minutes on social media for the brands? The other day I searched for Chanel numbers, since the Cara years, but hard to find whether the big brands benefit.

I just don't see how all their young followers would buy Versace products because Tschee Tschees pancakeface is their model of the moment.

thats pretty much what i meant - she would probably be signed but not really doing anything at all

As we Germans would call them a 'Kaderleiche'... a signed model with the booking activity of a corpse. You are 'part' of the team but you never play.

It depends what you consider long term but yes they are effective.
Brands desire brand awareness, engagement and desirability.

"While InstaShoots are attracting attention, expect to see designers reveal alternative approaches as the season unfolds. That may include tapping Instagram-famous talents to help disseminate their vision to the community. Indeed, the influencers that brands work with are as important as the images they publish. According to Exane BNP Paribas’ analysis, The Blonde Salad’s Chiara Ferragni, Vogue Brasil and Swedish socialite Malin Kansakangas’ Up Close And Stylish are the most important influencer accounts on the platform overall.Kendall Jenner has been a top driver for Fendi (with 988,141 social actions per post), while American pop star Demi Lovato (809,364) has boosted social actions around Céline, which itself abstains from social media. Cara Delevingne is a boon to Saint Laurent (742,154), while Khloé Kardashian supports Dior (686,365)."

Here are Chanel's reports.
Remember Chanel is a private company. It is much easier to seek out reports of publicly listed companies.

Also, as you likely know, for fair analysis you need real understanding of financial reports, market risk, forecasting etc to be able to interpret financial data most accurately. You can't simply compare quarter numbers. Hence why good analysts are compensated so well.
But that would require programs and most likely financial education. For arguments sake a quick read should give some lowdown.

Continued:

A 'like' translates to brand awareness and eventual purchase which = $$$.
It's free constant advertising disseminated to millions. It's quite a genius usage of instagram celebrities who may be compensated equally as those who never had to manage social media competition.
Think of it like having your print ad in your target market's view multiple times per day free.
You may not purchase things because you saw an ad but evidently sufficient numbers do for advertising to continue as it does.

"Lauder managed to nab 30k new Instagram followers over the weekend, and that social currency translates to a lot of lipsticks. A heritage brand like this one will suddenly find a KJ-obsessed crowd of millennials rushing to buy the makeup that was typically worn by their mothers.

It’s the perfect synergy, and Jenner must be being paid handsomely as the Pied Piper of the young and fabulous. One model agent that we spoke to said that while contracts like these typically go for anywhere from $250,000 to $500,000 per year, Kendall’s contract could be at least a million per year based on her impressive following. Not bad for a 19-year-old who reportedly is already worth $2.5m through her reality show and ongoing endorsements.

Another agent that we spoke to said that that figure could be exaggerated since Kendall has never asked for special treatment and would rather go through the paces like any young model. She reportedly doesn’t get paid any differently than the other girls to walk in runway shows (those rates are quite meager), attends all the castings, and wants to build her career from the ground up based on reputation alone."

It's not my fault you are entrataining with your ignorance

"entrataining"

What ignorance?
I think your anger/hate/venomous words are somewhat misplaced. Where did this rant come from? Was my comment about Kendall Jenner's career (which was echoed by several people) really that offensive to you?

Why is that no matter what I say someone gets angry? I'm simply trying to contribute to the discussion.

I'm not sure what the vendetta a select few members seem to have against me (despite the fact that I've been here for like five minutes, certainly not enough time for you to make such sharp judgements) is all about, but it seems that some people cannot get past it regardless of what I have to bring to the table. I mean this is really getting ridiculous.

Sarah Snyder also might count here since she's a model (mostly F21 and Instagram stuff) only because she's famous for dating Jaden Smith (who is also a celebrity model) and allegedly shoplifting a Birkin.

She's 5'5 and looks like a plainer Lily Rose Depp to me. F21 says she's 5'8.5.
i've met sarah and she is legit 5'4--i'm 5'6 and i have a decent height advantage over her. Her body is really 'hot' though, to be fair.

bella is fat and the editorial sucks except for the fact petra collins does cute/whimsical styling, and does it well.
