Somewhere
Ok London is snowy and my feet are freezing to death. What kind of shoes do you wear that is kind of stylish which would keep my feet nice and snug but I can walk in the snow/ice. I've fallen 3 times now and have bruises on my hips, stomach, elbows and hands so something that is non slippery would be appreciated. Pictures would be a big help.
Thanks

I'm currently looking for some Sorel boots, but can't find the specific model I'm looking for :( Sorel is know to be super comfortable, warm and waterproof. The perfect winter boot. The thing is I'd rather try them on rather than buy online because lots of reviews say that the sizing is off (comments often recommend to take a size smaller than what you usually wear). I'm paranoid and really demanding, so if it doesn't fit perfectly, I don't buy stuff.

This is the model I like, but there are lots of other lovely ones.

My boyfriend just bought me Merrell Winterbelle boots in turquoise & brown for Christmas :luv: They are so warm and cozy with wicked tread on the bottoms and I think they are very cute as well! Not as bulky as other boots I've seen and they don't have a bunch of ratty fur around the top

Do you mean wellies?

Yes - mine are the tall black high gloss ones. So lovely. You do have to wear thick socks because well..

I do think they're flattering plus they can be great for both city life and country.

I LOVE my hunter boots with big fluffy socks underneath!!!

I've resorted to wearing these around London in the sludgy icy snow and let me just say, my toes have been numb for too long now. I have no idea how I ever wore them in Canada in -35C with just a pair of thin thermal socks. So @classichic I was glad to see a thread pop up about this as I was literally just today planning to search for some ideas of boots that won't break the bank and only be worn for several days a year (for this snow blip and skiing)...
Hmm I've seen some Sorel ones in Office and Asos actually before xmas but I don't think I would ever wear them outside of these conditions, so I hate to spend the money on them

It's literally -30C today here, so I feel you.

I am a huge boot lover, here's my top three favourite boot makes:

Tod's - most comfortable boots in the world. They make everything from really classic equestrian boots (below) to biker boots, to things that are a bit more out there (mine are olive green pony hair). They also feature their trademark sole as shown below, and this gives amazing grip.

Lanvin - I find Lanvin to make boots that are the perfect marriage of comfort and fashion. They make a flat soled, tall boot with a secret, built in heel in a huge variety of finishes season to season. The boots fit like a glove, and you can find one in literally any finish you can imagine. I've seen biege leathers as featured below, seude fringed camel coloured boots, distressed brown with buttons up the side, etc.

Prada (red label) - Their sportier, younger label boots often have vibram soles, which are super comfortable and have great traction. Plus their leather is butter soft and the cuts tend to be sleek and urban. I would recommend them for their wonderful basic, black leather casual style boot.

All three of the above makes have an interior fully lined in leather which offers warmth, and of course, they are all built to last for years and years and years. I wear mine in snowy, wet, freezing Canadian weather, and they all look brand new.

@SugarFree, I do have the Hunter wellies (same as you :)) and unfortunately these are the ones I've slipped in. They do a snow version but I'm freezing in them even with thick socks.
I've heard of Sorel boots being good for snow but to be honest I really don't like the look of them.
@Allie, I love your boots suggestions but they look more like everday boots, I'd probably freeze in them. I honestly don't know how you manage to get thrugh -30 deg weather, it's 30 degrees warmer here and am freeeezing.
@Rose125, I did a search for snow boots on amazon and decathalon and actually surprised most of them are less than £70 (most are £20 - £50) but have no idea how they rank in terms of quality and cost.
I think I'm going to get some big jumbo ones, the ones people usually wear apres ski, I think I might get some looks in London walking around with these but these are the kind I want. Or should I get more 'normal' looking boots? As in maybe I might stand out in London, dunnno. They look like moon boots, they look really fun. I really want a pair and just jump up and down in them :p. But they're sold out/discontinued. :(

I bought these in the same color but they are another brand.

I know they are ugly but I was freezing to the point where I just said "Fuck it, I'm going to buy ANY warm boots!".
I paid 30€, they were reduced and cost 100€ before. It's lambskin and in the inside is extremely fluffy fur. :luv:

No matter if it rains or snows or whatever, my feet are warm and the boots are so comfortable!
Plus, they make your legs look skinnyminny :p

I really love them.

I guess my feet don't get that cold naturally, because I find all those boots super warm! My hands on the other hand... can't go anywhere in the winter without huge mittens.

Also, my sister has a pair of really heavy duty Uggs that are sort of winter trekking boots. They're pretty cute and very, very warm since they're shearling lined. They're also waterproof unlike the classic Ugg styles. The style is called Adirondack.

AHH love this thread, and all you gurls who know what real cold is like. I live a place where -40C in the winter isn't abnormal. That's real cold. I find my Uggs work really well for normal day to day life, going to school, etc. I spray them with protector and I've had no problems - the insides are always nice and dry and comfy.

These are so lovely!
I love my ancient vintage cowboy boots for winter. Weird, but they're very plain dark brown leather and have room inside for massive socks.

Tk maxx is pretty good for boots imo. Got some nice grey ones a couple of years ago, I'll see if I can find a pic.

I bought some of these to go over my usual chunky flat boots, I haven't slipped at all even when I was walking fast
£10-15 from outdoor shops eg mountain warehouse, blacks
