Ok, I admit it, I have a thing for steamy and controversial campaigns for which 80 percent of our generation would probably start throwing words such as "sexualization of the women's body" at me, the minute they're looking at shots like these.
However, beauty lies in the eye of the observer and so does art. The risqué play between genders, almost over crossing the thin line of too sexual and provocative, but still, remaining class and aesthetic is what makes the editorial so interesting and a form of art.

In the end, campaigns are made to get people to talk, to bring our attention to the brand, the photographer, the model, and so on.
And besides that, what better place than editorials like these to feature a skinny body?

  • Tom Ford 2007 men’s fragrance advertisement

Is there a better way to get male attention than to stick a perfume bottle in the most erotic zones of a woman? There’s no surprise this advertisement was shot by Terry Richardson and ended up being banned in Italy.

  • Sisley Spring/Summer 2001 campaign
You can probably guess the photographer of this suggestive editorial. Richardson and Sisley teamed up together to break the generalized standards and certainly did.

  • Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2017 campaign

Definitely a less controversial shoot by Collier Schorr, but even the intimacy of Selena Forrest and Hiandra Martinez, as well as Freja posing topless, seems too provocative for some people.

  • Abbey Lee Kershaw, Freja Beha Erichsen, Magdalena Frackowiak & Eniko Mihalik for Purple Fashion Magazine F/W09 shot by Terry Richardson
    "
Simply the beautiful girls we love, who feel free to use their bodies to the best effect. So, with total freedom we return to glamour, to show how much we love real fashion, especially when it’s real playful and spontaneous. Terry and I didn’t brainstorm before the shoot — the visual echoes of late ’70s glam rock, Studio 54, and sexual-revolution eros just happened."
