    Hey Gurls!

I am interviewing for a fairly prestigious high school tomorrow, and I'm having some trouble deciding on an outfit! I'm going into the IGCSE age group (I think) and their uniform is pretty standard Catholic school uniform, although the school isn't Catholic: knee-length plaid skirt, white button-down blouse, navy blazer, stockings and black shoes. Loose hair and makeup are forbidden :meh: so if I'm accepted I'll have to put on really subtle makeup.

I want to convey that I dress very appropriately and conservatively, but am not frumpy in any way. I want to look studious, professional (to an extent) but still youthful. Quite difficult for me, since I pretty much live in shorts and tank tops (note that I'm young enough for this to be okay)

I was considering wearing seamless underwear, beige tank top (not visible) with a light grey blouse (the blouse has buttons reaching about 1/3 of the way down with floral detail and little sewn lines along them) with a pair of high waisted jeans (no chance of a wardrobe malfunction) and plain black pumps. As for hair and makeup, I was thinking of a fishtail braid with nude makeup (lip balm, bb cream, powder, lightly pencilled eyebrows and subtle mascara), and a very small, silver, engraved locket on a simple, short silver chain, or a silver Africa with animals engraved on it, and small diamond studs.

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

I was with you until the jeans part - I'd recommend something a little more "polished" than jeans, especially if the school is rather conservative (and to me based on the description of the uniform, it sounds like it is). A pair of dress pants or a tailored or a-line knee length skirt would look much more put together. You might also want to stick with a lower heel. I think the fresh-faced makeup and your charming and pleasant disposition during the interview will convey youthfulness just fine. The locket sounds lovely for accessories with simple earrings.

Good luck with your interview! I'm sure you'll do well - just try to stay relaxed and calm and remember that the people who are interviewing you are only that - other people. Try to "connect" with them in a way that shows you are interested in what they have to say (ask questions, remember their names, make eye contact, be friendly and open, etc.). Make an effort to keep the interview pleasant for your interviewers, and you will definitely stand out on top of your academic achievements. Please let us know how it goes! :)

Thank you! I did end up wearing a navy skirt, it might sound a bit odd, but I think it looked good. Hopefully it went well! :)
