I'm not very happy with the new Gucci. I've heard many people praise it for being more wearable, less loud, and just very much in the spirit of 90s minimalism. However to me it feels plain, washed out, and lacking personality. To me, this is no longer Gucci- it has no signature to it (dare I say and hope: yet?). Some of the cuts felt like they were made hastily, hence not very flattering. If I'd see some of it at ASOS, I wouldn't be mad. But just for an artistic desire, I was hoping for something more.

De Sarno‘s Gucci is really tragic and hoping this is just a bad start… It manages to both be extremely commercial/bland and at the same time to have an aura of trying too hard. Reads as an attempt to scream the “quiet luxury trend” which is bound to fail since the whole concept is an oxymoron in terms. “Red and green because it’s so quiet guys, money talks wealth whispers amirite, just like the Loro Piana cap that you totally just buy because it’s so quiet and not because it’s the trend du jour that everyone recognizes—so classy old money stealth wealth we promise—” Then that’s inexplicably mixed with a marketing team’s idea of “dressing sexy” which just looks awkward with zero allure. And the way the clothes look in movement is even worse if possible, heightening the sense that they are all about conspicuous consumption and the photographed broadcast that you have x amount of money but in a way that is totally quiet and classy obvi… so boring and tedious!

I don’t gripe about brands selling their little commercial paraphernalia on the mass market because I get it’s a business but I thought the fun of high fashion is for them to do that so that the runway at least can indulge in art.

Patiently waiting for the Bottega showlist though as along with Prada it’s one of the few I liked this season. Much preferring Blazy to Daniel Lee.

If I'd see some of it at ASOS, I wouldn't be mad. But just for an artistic desire, I was hoping for something more.

Agreed, imo it looks like Zara.
