Anyone else obsessed with this 5-ep HBO miniseries?! It's a drama/murder mystery revolving around a group of mothers and their kids. Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, and Shailene Woodley are all fabulous in it.

Yes! It's really good. There are 7 episodes though.
Ah you're right! 5 eps out so far and 2 haven't aired yet. I'd forgotten what it was like to actually have to wait for a show every week...
Nevertheless, it won't become a cult show.
I'm gonna miss it when it's over. The fact that it doesn't have cult appeal is what makes it great, imo No pressure to keep spinning increasingly absurd storylines -- it'll end after 7 eps and wrap up tightly like a well-thought-out crime story should be.
Both sad and excited for the season finale next week
One thing the show has done is make me fall absolutely in love with Reese Witherspoon, who I'd honestly kind of dismissed as an actress until now. She's also aging so well -- didn't realize she was already in her 40s.
You should also watch her movie Wild then, excellent acting.
I only just started, but I'm totally hooked
I feel a bit sorry for Shailene Woodley though, actresses 20 years her senior look way better on the show. It seems a bit symptomatic of today's young Hollywood, perhaps it's just me but I feel actresses used to be more graceful and refined ...
That may just be Shailene; she belongs in the same kind of awkward and graceless but somewhat endearing camp that Jennifer Lawrence is in. There are other young actresses who are quite elegant, I think -- Emma Stone comes to mind, at least in her skinny and poised Birdman days.
Just watched the finale last night -- anyone else seen it yet?? I have my quibbles with it, but overall it was so well done.
That's true, I agree I overgeneralised. It was the beginning of the show and I still found her acting a bit jarring, I got used to it as the story gripped me. Also I liked Zoë Kravitz in the same show and she's also a representation of young Hollywood. It was just that the contrast in poise and acting between the three leads was really stark, you know?
I just watched the finale, I liked it! I mean, the death was a very convenient way to wrap up all the plot lines neatly, but I appreciated the message of women's unity and strength in the end
Shailene, on the other hand... I've always found her sort of annoying, ever since her Secret Life of the American Teenager days. And I just don't think she's as talented as Hollywood apparently thinks she is? I do think she's been looking better in the latest episode I've watched compared to the previous ones, but I just cannot look at her and not remember how she said she only washes her hair like once a year.
