I'm just echoing what everyone else said to give you a resounding THANK YOU!! I know it must have been a pain in the ass to deal with all of this while still keeping our community safe & in tact, and it is really disturbing to think you had to receive threats of any kind in the process. I'm sure both you and AB can see how much these forums mean to all of us, and I think the changes are great and sound perfectly reasonable to me.

SG, you are awesome...thank you so much for everything...

i just can't believe that...i mean death and rape threats? wtf is wrong with people...that is insane...

Who has the right to force anyone to censor what they choose to partake in online? Nobody here is being forced to be here and read what is written. Just like the existence of drugs, porn, book, movies you choose to make good or bad out of them. Nobody forces any choice upon anyone.

In response to your post - I must say, the socially unacceptable aspect to 'skinniness' and especially striving for and most especially succeeding at being thin is that it is what many want. Slim/leanness even curvy leanness is a physiological sign of health and athleticism. Skinniness is associated with youth, edginess, fashion etc. whilst being overweight and especially obese is associated with lethargy, and bad health and is thus undesirable. Because of these associations, people who are heavier are automatically considered the underdog even despite the fact skinny people are often underdogs and that there isn't any real correlation to weight and success or happiness or beauty. It is socially unacceptable to badger underdogs, but it is okay to beat down those presumed to be well to do. What a strange culture we have.

p.s. i adore this site skinnygurl! You are an eloquent light for girls with or without eds, and any girl who needs somewhere to speak freely about things where they won't be so heavily judged! I love it! thanks for that

 As I was reading it I was like CRAP should have saved them. You were thinking ahead!
I wouldn't worry, they have been quoted in plenty of comment sections on all the articles that have been written about SG/us ;)
But really, is there not a thread of them on here?... :hmm:

What I write on the site is intentionally outrageous and intended to provoke controversy, but I never imagined it would grow to the point where the celebrities I was writing about were actually reading the articles, and that has made me think.
Just wondering, SG, will there be some change in intensity or direction of the takedowns? I'm somewhat torn--I enjoy the cattiness and my sense of humor can be quite vicious, but it also feels a bit different as the site gains exposure.

I was going to say the same. Unbelievable that you're being criticized for your crude yet honest opinions by people who would dare to send death/rape threats. Find what's wrong in that........

This is a great article. It is so sad that people call this community "pro-ana" and so on. I USED to be anorexic and bulimic, but I'm fully recovered and this site is only helping me to see food and dieting in a positive light. I do not feel fat or depressed when I log on and see beautiful skinny girls in the "skinny showcase" but I feel motivated and happy for them. :luv:

Thank all of you, not only Skinny Gurl and AB, for a great and safe site, where we we DON'T promote eating disorders and self harm, but instead praise the healthy, skinny body and it's benefits!

SG, thank you for being such a graceful & intelligent Ambassador of the Skinny World! I loved the article and it reflects the characteristics of a sensible & grand person.

I have to admit that I am really really saddened in a way. The website is going to have precautions about something that didn’t exist to begin with. Every member who implicated self-harm was immediately bashed and frowned at until they scurried away and/or was advised with sincerity & concern. From the day SG came back from the attack though, I knew the website will never be the same.

But it is understandable since SG has become widespread, its exclusivity and elitist aura has faded away. I really loved the rawness of the articles at SG & the posts made here (including the amazing honest insights from the VIPs). I have a feeling that now, things are going to be different & most posts here will be made with a sense of conformity & political correctness.

I am sorry to hear about the appalling threats you got. You see, being normal is overrated as @Skinny2012’s sig says. SG’s standards are neither normal nor average & people’s simplistic narrow-minded perspectives hate anything different, challenging or isn’t within their comfort zone; it scares them. The attack against SG isn’t a complete shock.

Skinny Gossip is never going to be the same, but it was fun while it lasted. Nevertheless, thank you Skinny Gurl & Anon B for fighting to keep the website and the forums up & running

Don't be like that. It's smart to lay low for now, but i hope this wasn't @Skinny Gurl's last takedown.
Very true about laying low. I hope my post did not imply that SG is going to succumb to fat people's limited perspectives, because I know she wouldn't since she built a strong community here that supports a 100%. But you have to admit after that excruciating attack and God knows how many horrendous hate emails SG got, it has inevitably left a mark one way or another, however subtle it may be.

I give the new traffic volume two weeks tops. People who find us through the internet furore and like what they find will stay, the others will go away. I think that Skinny Gurl's persona is far more cutting and outrageous than the way forum members normally express themselves - that's why she's The Boss - so even if people can't handle an SG takedown, they'll still be able to see that this forum is the home of rational adults and not some poisonous teen cult. When they see the scandal won't hold up, they'll lose interest. So we don't need to change what we do, just the way we present ourselves to the wider world. We don't need to go into mourning just yet!

Agreed. If you can depend on the internet for one thing, it's short-ass attention spans. Especially for articles that are featured in the likes of Us Weekly, Jezebel, and The Daily Fail.

SG... I wish I had your grace!!!! Wow! You are truly a class act and a very open minded and strong person.

Thank you for all that you do to keep us here on this forum, to keep us safe from the weirdo's, and to keep us educated and aware of everything.
I cannot imagine the stress you must have been feeling, the anger and the hurt (no matter how tough the cookies crumbs still fall off).

I wish I could give you a hug and say "Hey let me take some of the load" But since I cant actually hug you I will say my offer to help is always on the table.
Take care

"including several death and rape threats"

Seriously? That's sickening, far more so than any of our "starving tips" or takedowns or snarky comments.

Very well written response from SG... and I hope people will lose their interest in our community soon enough. I might not be the most active writer here, but I'd be really sad if this site/forum got shut down.

SG this is why we all love you and this site so much! Classy, thoughtful, and beautiful! I personally would be so lost without this site, and the wonderful ladies here! It's an amazing thing(family!) you and AB have created. :)
