Forgive the title. This has been on my mind for awhile. Often I see actresses( sometimes actors) who are meant to represent a certain ideal in films/television. However that does not always happen. Jennifer Lawrence's portrayal of Katniss Everdeen is an example. I feel that she would have really solidified her performance had she lost some weight.

Which brings me to my main point. I think when it comes to preparing for a role, portraying the character is important. It takes away from the imagery if your distracted by a few excess pounds. If the character is meant to look skinny then either lose the excess to best of your ability, or find someone who will/ can do the role.

I'm sorry if it seems like I am rambling. It's frustrating to see a performance become average because the actress themselves looks average. I guess this is directed more towards casting directors than actresses theme.

What do you think?
