Shit Model Management / Shitmodelmgmt / Agency Whistle Blower

Oh the article/interview is real it was by Philip Utz for Numero. We've all known Karl is a piece of work for ages but this interview takes the cake! He really does insult everyone!

Tangential interjection but in regards to the interview, when on earth did this happen:
Personally, I adore Mrs Obama. I fell for her when an American journalist asked her if her leather skirts weren’t a little tight for a first lady, and Michelle Obama answered, “Why, don’t you like my big black ass?”
??? :wtf:

I feel like had this happened we would definitely have heard shrieking from Fox over it??

How the hell did I miss that gem!?!?

Also that's WTF at Karl's quote - not you. There is NO WAY that actually happened and no way it wouldn't have been major headlines if had... Karl is either the ultimate troll (and really fecking good at it) or has finally, for real, lost his damn mind.

Didn’t know where to ask this, but does any of you know why Leni’s models is on the bad agencies list??

Well it's implied on the screenshot that models have claimed to have issues with those agencies paying... But personally I think their philosophy is the thing worth avoiding -- they're pretty outspoken about rejecting size 0 for not being 'healthy', 'aspirational' or 'attainable'. They're into that ~realistic~ women schtick :whistling:

Can we change the title of this thread to Shit Model Management / shitmodelmgmt, or the like, to make it easier to search?

I entered "Shit model" into the search and didn't get this thread till page three...

Just a thought

Maybe it’s just me but the email isnt bad at all to me? I mean she is a model... it has its requirements like any other job. She knew what she was getting into. If you don’t want to be a model then don’t be one. There are thousands of girls that can and will happily take your place. “Trash email” - lol that’s probably the biggest exaggeration I’ve ever heard.

Just like being an athlete, there are strict physical regulations — but people are rarely so up in arms about how “problematic” and “trash” that is. It’s up to the individual if they believe sport, or the art of fashion, or just getting paid is worth the sacrifice.

Agreed, and I think it could be helpful for young models who may still be relying on fast metabolisms and don't really watch what they eat. Her responses are so petty- especially to the "things high in sugar aren't good"- like, where is the lie???? In general people shouldn't eat too much sugar, and you're a model so it's your job to eat healthier than most people??? She sounds like a little kid whose mom won't let her eat ice cream before dinner, not a professional... And the part about birth control pills is absolutely true, a doctor just told me to go on birth control to put on weight and get my period back:hahano::facepalm:

Yes, this email could be harmful to a girl who already suffers from disordered eating, and yes, the modeling industry does have many girls with eating disorders, but to the average person, this is no more harmful than seeing a diet plan in a magazine, or reading fitness advice online. And, as far as I know, most agents at reputable agencies are very focused on discouraging eating disorders for new models, so this email doesn't really show both sides of the situation. I think whoever runs shitmodelmgmt might be projecting her already existing issues with food onto this email and the industry in general.

**All this being said, the email is very sloppily written and doesn't exactly sound professional itself, but the content of the email, albeit had it been worded better, doesn't appear to be problematic to me.

exactly. i understand that the requirements are extreme sometimes but like...where's the gun to your head? i know modeling is something i truly want and i'll happily make the sacrifices. if it doesn't make me happy one day, why complain when i could just quit  wow, who knew that people could make decisions. shocker!

If they’re going to shit on agency requirement, at least go after the sketchy ones and not try to make an example out of a completely normal email.

Eeeeeeh, I wouldn't call the email completely normal. The bullet point on birth control was pretty fucked up and really "fear-mongering".

Everything else was fine though, I really don't get why they had any issue with it, especially the social media tip. Instagram is one of the biggest networking tools in fashion, just like LinkedIn in business and Twitter in STEM.

I'm curious as to what the comment about the "vacation fund" meant :hahano: and I agree that the BC bulletpoint was a bit...out there, because I know people who take it for health reasons, not because they're having sex. I also agree on the point that the overall tone of the email wasn't exactly professional (the typos/incorrect grammar don't help, lol). If I got an email like that from my boss about things that are pertinent to my job, I'd be kind of put off too-it's just the tone and diction, not necessarily the content. Modeling is a real, legitimate job, which is something that I feel people outside the industry have a hard time accepting. These kinds of unprofessional ("unprofessional" in the tone, word choice, grammar, et cetera; most of the actual content seems fine to me) emails probably don't help reinforce the concept that modeling is an actual career.

(Also, I'm really curious as to what the Inner Thigh toning video is, now . The person who owns the account might not be into that stuff, but I love a good workout video :D)

Why is it fucked up? The agent is not saying "don't take any birth control pills", just advising the (bratty) model to talk to her doctor about which option would be best for her. Given that her job depends on maintaining a certain weight/measurements, I don't think it is an unnecessary precaution, and one with very little downside at that.

As someone who ballooned up shortly after starting birth control and struggled so much trying to shed the pounds until I stopped taking the pills (then the weight came off easy and I stopped feeling like an emotional wreck), I can see where the agent is coming from. Just avoiding potential risks.
