My Questions for Models-I was asked to model!

Since you are 5'4" maybe you are being asked to be a fit model. Basically, it means you have ideal, proportional measurements so you would just try on a bunch of clothes to see how they fit.

But honestly...it sounds like someone's trying to sell you some modeling classes. It happens to the best of us. I've been on auditions that seem SO legit and at the end they call you to the office to say "congratulations....you've been chosen to join our super expensive school!!!"

Either way, keep us updated. I'm on pins and needles.

Aw this sounds really exciting. If it's true, I hope it is what you've been told. I really can't say anything more on it because I know nothing about how these things work, my knowledge of how modelling works goes as far as Americas Next Top Model so I'm guessing that means zero knowledge.

Anyway, hope it works out, whatever it is? :)

Congrats! I have to say it seems somewhat unlikely to seriously be signing to an agency like ford and expecting to work in the industry at 5'4" but hey, they did just sign their first female to the mens board, the times they are a changin'

Well done regardless.

Well, darnit :meh: I really hope that it is a real, good-intended offer to us, and that Allison and I aren't just going to go through a lot of work for nothing.... I haven't gone and seen the offices in Dallas yet, so I am calling them tonight, because they want me there on Friday. I really do hope it isn't a "come pay us a ton of money for modeling classes!" Scam, though :( I guess I will find out! I will tell you lovelies what they say on the phone as soon as I hang up, so that I don't agree to a scam over the phone and only find out after I miss school and go see them. :meh: Anyays, thanks for the good wishes and good advice. I'm gonna go call now! I am crossing my fingers that they still want a photographer and someone to model or if they just want money for classes.

So what happened dearie?

I really would like to know how it went too! I hope for your sake that it's legit - there are some 5'4" models out there like Anja Konstantinova, but if I were you I'd remain sceptical because models tend to be over 5'7", and usually more like 5' 9/10" (or taller).

Ford and Elite have been going downhill. Sometimes sketchy agencies that only want money and will take anyone use Ford or Elites name. I have to assume that is what happened to you since you are only 5'4.

I really really hate to say this but this is very possible. Something similar happened to me in Toronto, with a sketchy agency who claimed to be a sub-company under -- Elmer Olsen, I believe it was? I mentioned it a while ago on the forums. I figured it out before signing anything but I'm sure not everyone was so lucky.

Anyways just be careful, because unfortunately, there are some really crappy scams out there.

So, I have a really long post about what ended up happening. I will tell everything once I can use my PC and not an iPad, but for now, I will do my best to sumarize.
I stopped posting recently. Not just on this forum, but the whole Internet. See, my brother got caught watching internet porn. :wtf: And my parents decided that apparently, we ALL needed to be punished. So they Blocked all the websites except for things like email and Facebook, which we need for school assignments. So everything in what I will post happened like 2 weeks ago.
I called. The lady wanted to meet up in person, so we went and met up, and she brought along a guy named Kendall, who I think was her boss, or at least someone she works with.
They say "oh yeah you have such potential blah blah blah". It's just crap though, because then she gave me a surprise.
Kendall said "oh we arent related in any way to The Ford modeling agency you are talking about. We are a separate, independent modeling agency specifically for children's fashion."
As in, they wanted me to be a children's clothes model.
And then. That's not all. The Nordstrom photo shoot isn't even an official thing for Nordstrom. It is an ad...the Type you tape up around the mall for the mall location when it has a sale. Specifically, the photo shoot would be for a week long sale ad in Spring, and it would be the type of ad that you Xerox and tape up for the sale that week. Not even an actual, company thing.
Ugh. It was sooo....I don't know. I mean, it just seemed so...official, I guess. An actual photos shoot, and actual possibilities, and meeting, and paying me...everything was just all official. They even let me keep this really georgous Burburry dress from the store a whlole month before it goes on sale without paying! I don't know. I just feel...used. Like, "Really, b*tch? You made me get my hopes up and drive all the way to Starbucks and basically lied, or at least deffinately mislead, me just to tell me that you want me to model children's clothes in a (not-even-officially-endorsed-by-Nordstrom) tiny, printable ad to tape up in the mall?
Anyways, longer and more detailed, soup-to-nuts story when I can type from a PC. Glad to have my SG access back, though! It feels good to vent about it. Thank you guys for supporting me and the good luck wishes too :) sorry for the rant. I just had to get that out of my system.

@Dancer4Life - So sorry to hear it wasn't legit. If you have their details, maybe you should try talking to someone from the real Ford agency and tell them that they're trying to con teenagers using their name. I'm sure they won't be impressed.

Are you still getting paid? Even though you aren't modeling for Nordstrom (and regardless of how it seemed at the time, the way they approached you was NOT legit), I think this is still very cool for you. You got to keep a designer dress and if you ever decide you want to try to do print modeling or commercial acting you will already have shots and a bit of a resume. I know you are disappointed but this definitely turned out better than what I expected.

When I was your age my agency sent me on WAY lamer jobs but hey, they paid so I was still happy. With your height you are never going to be a high fashion model but you could still use this to propel your career forward.

This was my first thought. But I would also contact Ford and just inform them that it's happening, then again, it's probably going on all the time so there's not much they could do about it. You got a free dress out of it though! How old are you? What age group would you have been for childrens wear?

I got scouted earlier this week. They want me to go up to Chicago and then NYC. I am not sure if it is even worth it--while I'm a touch taller than 5'4" (sorry dear:(), I don't want to invest all of this time and put aside my real job if 5'8" is too short. I know there are other girls at that height but not many--and they are epicly beautiful. I dunno, I guess I am just nervous about taking pictures 1) without makeup 2) when I am not at my new goal weight 3) I just came out of race season and I have scary muscles--not so Vlada.

I don't want to be the short, fat [and ginger] one.

VIPs--any advice for a "within range" shortie?

if its real scout for real agency donot worry, but make sure 100%!

when the managers see you, they will tell you what to weigh before they make contract,or if your lucky, they sign you and starve you
