Iconic Runway Moments

Fair enough! I was unsure of where to post as I was interested in some of the 2022 fashion week shows but couldn't find specific threads about them (maybe this is something I'll need to unlock at a higher level) but this thread does seem to be more focused on iconic shows from all time. I think opinions on the outfits themselves are down to personal taste but I do think his innovation is something very exciting. In my opinion, the installation on the runway and the designs showcased feel like a breath of fresh air compared to some shows this season. I guess time will tell which shows are remembered and forgotten.
I did not intend to come off as mean, and I apologise if I sounded like that. I've been on edge today, so maybe I'm just a little bit passive aggressive right now! :)

Alexander McQueen S/S 10 "Plato's Atlantis"
While this iconic collection doesn't necessarily meet my preferred taste, I completely admire McQueen's creativity and the remarkable effort he demonstrates with his last show. It proves once again how sadism, ugliness, and beauty are linked in fashion, considering the 10-inch heels which perfectly accentuate those skinny legs.
“Foreseeing a time when the polar ice caps have melted and the seas have risen, McQueen predicts a future in which humans, with the aid of bio-engineering, reverse evolution and return to the sea from which life came. “Plato’s Atlantis,” the title of the show, refers to the legendary island described by the classical Greek philosopher as having sunk beneath the sea. McQueen explains that this show is based on fantasy, myth, and legend.”

Love the idea of this thread!
Off the top of my head there's Alexander Mcqueen's S/S 2001 show titled "Voss". While "Joan" is my personal favourite McQueen show this comes close second. Guests were seated facing a large mirrored box that once lit up revealed models in an asylum like cell. The show and it's finale was inspired by an artwork by Joel Peter Witkin titled "Sanatorium" and the ending revealed journalist Michelle Olley lying on a coach with breathing tubes. Olley stated:
“My body’s going to be so at odds with the fashion sparrows and bony old crow-people in the audience...I am what most of them fear most – fat”

Who said I didn't like plus sized models? I enjoyed the finale of Voss very much!

Also can't forget about Tanya opening for Versace S/S 2008. This show and opening will forever be ingrained in my mind.

This may not be iconic but it was certainly memorable- Jessica Stam at Chloe

Would have been extra iconic if the pretentious bitch split her nose open. I'll never get tired of that one. No one deserves it more than her.

Dolce & Gabbana S/S 07
Although I don’t support D&G by any means due to the racism and homophobia allegations, this show still falls under the category iconic due to the major performance, futuristic ambiance, and a very sexy collection of black bustier dresses, plastic-corseted belts, skin-tight satin Bodysuits, and shorts, worn by our favorite skinnies.
On another note, watching the show online works perfectly for maintaining willpower on a fast, which I doubt nobody of us is lacking, but with Snej, Vlada, Sasha, Olga, Natasha walking down the runway, looking as fierce as always, discipline is ensured.
"SexyBack' by Justin Timberlake blasted out of the speakers as power women dug spiked shoes into the Plexiglas runway, plastic corsets cinched black-clad bodies and fireworks of color and pattern exploded across the translucent set.
The pop singer summed up a spectacular Dolce & Gabbana show that crystallized in its devilish references to sexual provocation, S&M and to the towering designers of the newly fashionable 1980s just what is right and wrong about the Milan spring/summer 2007 season. The clothes may be provocative and striking, but all the references are looking back to find the future." - Suzy Menkes

Nina Ricci F/W 09
I personally admire Theyskens, not only because he always brings the best legs on the runway, but for his creativity, which made his departure at Nina Ricci bittersweet but on the other hand turns this specific show even more outstanding and iconic. He was able to create a quite magical atmosphere through the dark, rich colors, allowing a play between glitter, paillettes, and reflective light that comes close to the moonlight in an endlessly shining night. The collection speaks for itself and clearly doesn't require a majestic show, but emphasizes how perfection can lie in razor-sharp cuts, fierce, strong yet simple designs.
The show might have been his swan song at Nina Ricci, but Olivier Theyskens saw it through with a fierce, surreal poetry no one who witnessed it will forget. Vastly tall, his strong-shouldered women were walking, trancelike, on what looked like an impossibility: a laced-up platform ankle boot with a sickle-shaped hole at the back. No heels at all. Their clothes—everything from strangely flowing pants to incredibly cut suits to probably the best black leather jacket in Paris and evening dresses with swooping, furling skirts—were a tour de force.

John Galliano F/W 2009

From Vogue:
Galliano struck out on his own into the frozen wastes of Russian-Balkan folklore for Fall. A micro-bubble snowstorm was falling on the runway, and a trick of laser lighting created a magical illusion that the models were walking in some fairy-tale tunnel far, far removed from the brutish realities of humankind's current worries. It was theater, escapism—the creation of a parallel fantasy world upon which the concerns of "fashion" barely impinged.
