Iconic Handbags?

That's the bag I just received for my birthday. Though, I'm not sure if its iconic or popular.
You received this for your birthday? Holy shit... that's a nice gift.

I'd say it's a pretty great basic - and it's certainly popular amongst the models.

Yeah, understandable - I'm not a MK fan either.

This picture initially turned me on to this bag

I've also noticed Nicole Richie, Kate Moss, January Jones - all sporting this satchel. I think it's such a lovely basic. You should go for it!

The Celine trapeze probably wouldn't be described as a 'classic' bag but the style is so timeless and streamlined. I just got the 'almond' colored one as a gift and am in love

For a long time, I wanted a Chanel 2.55, preferably the reissue, without the interlocking cc clasp, since I like to keep my logos minimal.

But I have found a new love! The Louis Vuitton Alma in epi leather. Perfect and classic.

My dad's girlfriend has this in red, it's such a goooorgeous and classy bag, simple and yet very interesting because of the shape and texture on the leather. And needless to say impeccably made. It's a shame that LV doesn't make more products without the ridiculous monogram print branding, but hey, some people are into that I guess.

This is a kinda up-and-coming company, and I've been oggling their bags for a little while now... Cambridge Satchel Company

They make satchels that are all pretty much the same design, but come in several different sizes and so so many different colors. They are handmade to order, and are so clean and crisp and structured looking. I would love one of these for carrying around my notebooks and stuff to class!

Funky color and monogram :

I wouldn't call them iconic- just popular. I don't get the hype around these bags- a flatmate had it just looks awful in my opinion and it needs a lot of care to make sure the leather does not crack (she only got it a month ago). I would expect a good bag not to need such regular care. Yes, you can customise it, but why get something which every other teenager carries?

:disgusted: - a bit over exagerrated expression, I don't think it's "ugly" but certainty not an iconic bag. They are as iconic as a coach bag. :nervous:
(I would though, go for any bag over a Coach purse)

I really do like Celine, Givenchy, Balenciaga, Dior...

Louis Vuitton a little less because it's rather cheap for how expensive it is. Mass produced and available to anyone, nothing special about them.

Ouch, time to throw out my LV collection.

But seriously, though, I abuse the shit out of my Vuittons and they still look good years later. My Mulberry Alexa only took 1 year to look like utter shit. My Miu Miu is holding up pretty well but it's only been about 6 months since I got it, so it's hard to tell.

I'm eyeing a mini Lady Dior or a micro Celine Luggage next, but my bank account's not ready to commit.:nopity:

Some of you girls have such great taste in bags! And a skinny girl with a nice handbag always gets my attention. ;)

I'm lusting after a couple Dior bags now, not just the Miss Dior. :p

I did not mean to offend, I'm sorry :(
I just see everyone and their mother carrying a Louis.. :nervous:
Yes they are iconic but at the same time.. so common. I can literally see up to 40 in a day.

Absolutely agree. I think the speedy is iconic but there are loads of teenagers with that bag. At uni it's the bigger one, shown in the picture above (especially popular with the Asian girls). And around sale time - I don't think they even do sales but there is always a huge queue (mostly tourists) at Harrods and Selfridges for those monogram bags. They always have security guards and let people go in small groups.
Don't get me wrong, some of the stuff is lovely but because too many people have them it just loses the appeal.

Oh and I agree the Cambridge Satchels are not iconic - they're taken the old school bag and brought it back and modernised it. It's just a phase. I do kind of like them but they look like a little cheap and like they're going to fall apart.

@SkinnyBones lovely prada and lovely colour :)

I can only dream of many of these bags, unfortunately I will never be able to afford most, if any of them

but you all have great taste!
