Triggering tumblr links?

That's why we have a trigger warning, not censorship.

I think some stuff needs censorship. You don't have to agree with me, but i don't want to see tumblrs with "cute" little anorexia collages and pro ana bullshit around here. As a moderator i haven't deleted a lot of stuff, but i did delete one or two threads ("Eating spoiled food to make yourself sick") and some links of pro ana sites.

I'm not talking about thinspo tumblrs here although i appreciate the trigger warnings some girls added.

Warning: super gross, i couldn't bare to look at it but I saw this on an ACTUAL tumblr blog a few times in the past.

:wtf::disgusted:

I've never seen a pic like that on any tumblr...why would you repost something like that????

I have come across links to tumblr's with pictures of cutting and thinspo and if thats how girls want to express themselves because thats what they are dealing with, just put a trigger warning.

I don't think a trigger warning is enough, any kind of tumblrs promoting self harm should be deleted.

"Expressing themselves"? What do you think cutting is, some kind of art???

@SugarFree
i have never seen an image like that posted on a tumblr that belonged to a member :rolleyes:

You might of not seen some of these links, but I actually have.

@SugarFree
You are using your opinion to decide what is "acceptable". We don't all see it the way you do. That's why we have a trigger warning, not censorship.

That is fine then, if you want links to girls cutting themselves, go right ahead (Y)

if they posted a picture of someone cutting because thats how their life is right now are they telling girls to pick up a blade? uh, no.

WHY should a PRO-SKINNY website have links to PRO-SELFHARM. It might not be telling girls to pick up a blade, but it's either disgusting or triggering to a person. Unless your'e mentally sick. You can have that on your own blog if you want to "EXPRESS" yourself, but I personally think it shouldn't be linked.

WTF? There was a thread about "Eating spoiled food to make yourself sick"? Who posted that shit? (was it the ghee lover?)

Some stuff should be deleted. @Skinny2012 Thanks for taking care of this.

As for @SugarFree i'm actually on your side here, but posting a self harm pic to show that self harm tumblrs shouldn't be linked is kind of a bad move.... :whistling:

That is complete bs. It's the same stuff the pro ana girls post: "No we don't want anyone to develop an eating disorder / If you don't know what pro ana is, leave this site right now" ....

It doesn't work that way. Especially not when you are 12 or 13 years old.

Oh, yeah.. LOL. @Skinny2012 could you please remove the self harm picture link?

You saw that posted by a SG member? Or you saw that posted on Tumblr? If the first one, I still don't think you should have posted it here. If the second one, what the hell does it have to do with what we're talking about? I've seen lots of gore on Tumblr, that doesn't make it relevant to this conversation. It's like saying we shouldn't link to Google because we can search for dead baby pictures on it. :rolleyes:

anyhoo, this seems to be getting a bit heated. I think what is classed as triggering is always going to subjective, so basically, if you wouldn't see it posted in the SG forums and discussed on the SG forums (without it being deleted or getting a good old public slap) then your tumblr link is not relevant enough to be placed in your signature, even if only one in 10 pictures you post is classed as unsuitable in a harmful way, because people will scroll, and once they see something that hits home with them, they'll keep on scrolling and get dragged into it again before they know it. blah blah blah.

Please re-read that post. You obviously did not understand. I don't want to have to explain something that simple..
