Swimwear Models

I was taking a study break, and I came across some FTV videos. O-M-G why do lots of designers (*cough cough MIAMI cough cough*) use chunky girls to model their swimsuits?

Case Study:

I couldn't even focus on the swimsuits, the girls' bodies were just too distracting.....:superpuke:

Why can't they stick to some of the regular international catwalk models, like was the case at the end of the Herve Leger S/S 2009 show?

What's your opinion on this???

:wtf: They all seem to be quite chunky around the butt and stomach area. The jiggle is distracting and not for the catwalk. Second video is so much better there is no jiggle and Freja looks hot!

The first video was terrible! horrible walk and to much jiggling fat eww.

But the second video I loved, no jiggling fat and they where just amazing models! :D

You should look at the end of the first vid, when the designers do their little walk... They're, um, "real women" alright. Might explain the model selections.

I would never call the girls in the first video chunky, if I met (most of) them IRL I would find them very pretty... but I've never seen a better illustration of what a big difference 2in on your thigh makes.

Because there's not a single designer showing @ Miami who could afford those girls.

Ah you're from Toronto too! Hihi! :D

As for the show... Ugh. Just no. No no no. The pose at 0:53!

I KNOW RIGHT?! I wish people would separate models from "real women". Ok sarcasm aside, models have a body that is unique compared to what the "average"/"healthy" woman should/does have. This is probably why I stick to watch real fashion shows rather than swimwear shows :p

ps. yes I am from Toronto too! Omg so cool :) And we have kind of similar stats! Hahah

Looove Freja (minus her um bad habit...:(). She killed it that show!

Hahah that's so true...I know what you mean. Just kind of frustrates me that they have a whole fashion week of models who aren't really models, and that just fuels that whole argument of "models should be 'healthier looking'" which is even more frustrating.....:\

diet +no working out = loss of muscle

thats why i love fitblr blogs so much!

Why didn't you post this with the takedowns? That's were this thread belongs...

Thanks for the reverse thinspo! It made me want to work out instead of just relying on 'diet'. Cringe cringe cringe!

THIS! Exactly! Some of them 'seem' toned and in shape, like if it was in an editorial it wouldn't look as bad, but that extra jiggle around the belly and thighs definitely seperates them hugely from the high fashion models or girls like Miranda and Erin who are pretty firm and petite...

No problem :) Glad it helped! I can't wait until exams are done, I'll be working out and dieting hard core! I know exactly what you mean...you can have curves and still be slim, but sometimes those curves just take your body TOO far if you know what I mean :\

The first video is horrible for a fashion show showing off swimwear. The jiggle is soooo distracting. I do agree that they are not "fat" though. They are really just not a good choice for this product. They need to tone up the ol' thigh area thats for sure. The second video is so much better.

Hmm... I'm gonna stick with Chanel Iman in Rosa Cha for a swimsuit thinspo.
