Second-hand stores - yes or no?

I love vintage BUT I make sure I wash every item before wearing them!

Yes

i work in a charity shop, so when the shops quiet i browse and sometimes i find some amazing things, e.g. i got a shirt dress which i wear all the time and it looks like its from Topshop! I also bought a Versace jacket in there for £3.50 and some woman asked to buy it off me on the street a couple of days ago!
crazy haha

I love them, but without sewing machine are not much use for me, only sizes S and up there :nopity: I look as if I wore my mother's clothes in majority of the things..pearls are rare ..

Hell yes! I don't buy new clothes in general, for two reasons. I don't have money for those uniquish, great looking clothes I would love to wear, and my style doesn't allow me to wear much of those H&M mass-production clothes. And anyway I'm very poor, so I shop in second-hand. All my wardrope is from those places, except stockings and underwear.

Hear hear! Love second hand, it seems silly to spend money on something mass produced and poor quality when you can get decent, hardly worn, unique stuff for a fraction of the price.

oh its not in london i'm afraid :( its in rochester, where i live outside of term-time.
do you know any good vintage shops in london? i'd be interested to find some too!

Sorry, the only vintage shops I know are in Leicester! That said, there are meant to be some amazing ones in the posher places. If you go to South Ken/Chelsea people will quite happily give a dress they've worn once to a charity shop. It's a lot more expensive though!

With me being a somewhat "gothy" type, second hand stores can be really handy! Although I almost never remember to go to them.>_< I get most of my stuff from chinese and Japanese sellers on ebay.:3

I love second hand/thrift stores!! on my budget I can only shop in trashy low quality places so thrift stores are an opportunity to get classier clothes for cheap:luv:

I LOVE SECONG HAND STORES!!!!!! BUT, popular second hand stores lke Goodwill adn Salvation Army may not have a lot of top notch, vintage clothing. A nice store called Plato's Closet opened up near me and I love it because it caters to teenagers and they only accept things that are in sytle right now :)
And any small town botiques are absolutly wonderful. My sisters and I went to one of those stores and spent about $200 ( 154 euro/ 124 pounds ) and got loads of stuff :)

LOVE LOVE LOVE second hand stores, like 75 % of my clothes I found them there, and great unique pieces! I dont have a big budget for spending in normal stores that usually are over expensive and bad quality and too trendy, and neither designer clothes (I wish I could buy but too expensive).
I never could buy a lot of clothes and I got frustated so when I discovered thrift shops I went crazy! I love fashion and thrifts shops helped me being more creative and fashion foward also I found some really unique and amazing pieces that no one has.

Ahh yes.OwO Literally the only problem I have is, things will fit me just fine, except everything is too short on me because Asians tend to be very petite and I'm a bit lanky.D: Haha

I got MAC lipstick and blusher for £1 each from them though..O_O

aha, yes, i always check the length before i buy it, some of the clothes would barely cover my bum :p

I've never thought about buying makeup from there! ...... ebay time....

Never in my life have I stepped into a second-hand clothing store, let alone worn a second-hand piece of clothing. I've just never done it.
But, I'd like to. I've been thinking about it for a while & might go to one and have a poke around. IDK, just something about them creeps me out. They look smelly. But I'll give it a go :)

I love the idea, and I know there's not really anything icky about it, but germaphobe me just can't do it

So overall, I still thinks it's a "yes"!

I like vintage stores, with vintage brands, but I don't like second hand shops too much. Most of the time, the stuff is ruined or spoiled. I still enjoy browsing and hoping to find a gem though! Plus I love getting my jewellery from second hand stores (except earrings, or anything else you pierce into your body eugh).

My main reason for not enjoying visits to most Op Shops is the smell. I really do not like it.

However, I do get a lot of old oversized painting shirts there!

yes. some of my favorite clothes are from second-hand stores and they were so much cheaper than if i bought it from the actual brand store. Keep in mind that some of the clothes in these stores are new clothes that stores throw out after a season is over so you're essentially buying new clothes are super clearance prices.

YES FOR SURE!!! i went to goodwill my my friends one day and got an entire wardrobe!!!!!! for 39 dollars oh my word really cute cloths!!!!

After losing 25 lbs, none of my jeans fit me... And we're talking true religion, Hudson, Rock and republics,,l it was very frustrating. I didn't want to let them go because I loved having them. Realistically thoug, they just took up space in my closet so I ended up taking in a buch of clothes to buffalo exchange and I actually ended up trading for true religions and Hudson's in my size! So I think I came out even. As much as I enjoy designer jeans, my budget is modest, so these stores are great

There are some higher-end consignment stores where I live and I will check them out for something interesting. I consign so I just end up using my credit to buy new things. Everything is very clean. On the one occasion I found a dress with a stain they removed it from the floor immediately.
