Why do I find this so out of touch in the middle of the situation we’re living? There are people losing jobs and the economy is at its worst and you post a screenshot of your friend bragging about eating caviar lol so tacky, empathy is not for everyone I guess. Waiting for the next interview where they cry about how humble they are
Had to laugh a little, here in Scandinavia caviar is the cheapest food we have, usually eaten by broke students :hahano:
Though I’m assuming cara’s caviar didn’t come from a tube.

This is a great example of that false confidence people get when their friends overhype them, but in this case we have her and her followers commenting sexy mama!! 1! every chance they get.

Nothing is sexy about looking bloated 24/7 and allowing yourself to look like that because oh man, you pushed out a watermelon sized human pet out of your lady parts approximately too long ago? Give me a break.

The fact that New York has such a great variety of healthy restaurants/bars/takeouts etc., including vegan and organic options and she chooses the most disgusting, cheapest fast foods is extremely baffling to me. For fucks sake if you have the money why would you willingly eat some fried shit off the floor AND proceed to flaunt it everywhere like you're proud of yourself:slinkout:

This is from Pommes Frites on MacDougal in the village! As a self-confessed potato lover I must admit that their fries are very good but the portion sizes are huge! I would consider the "small" as enough for my entire day.
But... I would never eat these with any kind of sauce.

I hope this is not by a stylist's doing... The chunky cheap looking jewellery, the bad eyeliner, ratty frizzy extensions, the tacky top. Looking like straight up trailer trash :wtf:

I believe in a saying "what you put in is what you get out". If there is one, the stylist is sure doing a great job following that principle - for both Gigi and Bella.

This might be a bit of a redundant statement (then again, I'm probably known at this point for my tendency to say redundant things), but I can't help but rant a bit about how Bella insisted on just how much eating "makes her happy". I'm sorry, but I just think it's so unprofessional for any top model to talk about eating in itself as if it's some sort of hobby or passion of theirs. Maybe it's to endorse the whole new-age popular sentiment that "modelz need to be good influences and make their fanz feel less insecure about the fact that eating is all that gives them purpose! therefore, good modelz are just like you! all hail bOdY pOsiTiViTy!!" But still, I just think that if you're (at least considered by the public to be) a professional supermodel and you're okay with admitting that eating makes you that happy, you just shouldn't be a model, let alone a supermodel. Period. It's a stain upon the classical reputation of the fashion industry as a whole, and it seems like such a slap in the face to those behind-the-scenes people who are in charge of putting together sample sizes and are used to following the classic guidelines that make a real sample size for those models who are taught to work hard and earn their keep; maintaining a good figure so they can embody the clothes on the runway as to give respect to the designer's artwork. Openly talking about neglecting your daily workout routine and then making it worse by eating your heart out (and super unhealthy and fattening fast food, at that! Pizza and hamburgers? Really?? Are you a millionaire who can afford all the premium-quality foods, or aren't you?) just seems to me as one of the most disrespectful things you can do to the fashion industry. I'm not saying I'm surprised by Bella saying it, but the fact that she's saying it so openly and passionately is maddening nonetheless.

To be honest, I don't agree with you on this. While I understand where you're coming from, I don't think the attitude of "I love food" and "food makes me happy" is negative; I, for one, feel the same. I love food and making sure that what I consume are things that I enjoy. Does that mean that I go around perpetuating this false narrative that I eat junk all day, don't work out, and still manage to stay thin in comparison to the general population? Absolutely not. The issue with her messaging is that a large portion of her audience is highly susceptible to these misleading statements because they WANT to believe it is possible, because it's easy, and that's where the issue lies for me.

Is this misalignment with the idea some have of the fashion industry and what it should represent disrespectful? Sure, maybe to some, but for most (especially those profiting IN the industry), I think the fact that she's one of their biggest cash cows, and one that they can milk regardless of size, far outweighs any sort of standards they may have.

All, please feel free to bash me for these comments, I can take it ;) I just wanted to share my thoughts on this.

(small P.S. Let's make one thing clear though: while she seems like a decently nice person, I can't really stand Bella even though I don't really follow her activities all too much. She just rubs me the wrong way for a variety of reasons)

Yeah I don't know...tbh I feel that attitude is a little MPA. You can be skinny and love food - it is just about quality over quantity. Eating should make you very happy - if it doesn't you probably have a disordered relationship with food. In fact inhabitants of countries where the day is centred around a love of good food are on average far skinnier than in Anglo-Saxon countries where the relationship is highly distorted. Of course she 100% takes the piss when it comes to being a model (particularly when she says she "works hard") but overall I would say you should feel happy and passionate about your meals. If you don't, reassess why you're wasting your calories and time on that food.

Idk, I can see where @atxwaif is coming from. Maybe it’s just how Bella expressed it, but to me a statement like “food makes me so happy” sounds really weird. I don’t think there’s anything strange about saying “I love food” though. It’s the use of the word “happy” that gets me. It just seems like a weird way to express a positive feeling towards food. I mean, I like food too and really enjoy it but I wouldn’t say it makes me “happy”. My dogs, my partner, socialising with friends, doing well at work, going on holiday = these are things that make me happy. I wouldn’t put food in the same category.

I actually like what you said, and I can get behind a lot of your points. I think it's perfectly healthy to love food, and I believe it is possible to be skinny and still consider yourself a foodie. However, I obviously believe that the food you love should be healthy, or at least high-quality, not fast food.

I think I should rephrase and just say that the way Bella was very misleading with her statements rubbed me the wrong way, and it was so annoying how she made her appreciation for food (but not even food— she specifically said eating, which is what got me) sound like a full-on hobby, like a life purpose. It kind of seems like it's similar to the mindset adopted by overweight and obese people (although, with obese people, it's more extreme since it's driven from actual mental health issues, and usually stems from a background of psychological trauma), so that's even more maddening to me, as her statements seem to perpetuate an unhealthy narrative that outright rejects the concept of food morality.

That being said, though, I definitely agree with having a healthy appreciation for good food, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't love a delicious indulgence in a decadent serving of Italian cuisine every once in awhile. I also love to cook, and I consider myself to be a skinny foodie, for sure.

I also want to say that I don't think pizza and hamburgers are inherently terrible, as I've eaten some very high-quality gourmet hamburgers and pizzas at my favourite upscale restaurants, made with quality ingredients and minimal processing... However, the Hadid sisters aren't really known for having standards when it comes to food, so when they talk about partaking in the excessive consumption of greasy pizza and loaded hamburgers, it's pretty easy for me to assume that they wouldn't hesitate to stop in at a McDonald's for it if they didn't encounter a more upscale and expensive establishment prior to it.
