Should I buy it?

Save the money! I used to have this jacket and it was from their 2017 collection so it will definitely pop up again!! Also, it is zero warm but if you really like it and want it check Depop etc and you’ll find them for 20$??? Or at least that’s how much I sold it for on there 😅

I actually had no idea that it was a rerun! Thank you for sharing this info! 😍 I will definitely look into Depop.

@proseccoprincess @conqueste @raven @ZouZou thank you all for your advice, you've all been very helpful. 🥰

There's this absolutely gorgeous dress on sale at Aritzia... but i'm not sure I'll use it.

This is the colour I want, and this is how it looks on the model (she is only pictured wearing black):

I envision myself wearing it to patios and farmer's markets, my common summer activities, and I own a wide-brimmed straw hat that I think would go perfectly. However, I'm not sure if it's gathered enough at the waist (proportionately my waist is much narrower than my shoulders, which - unfortunately! - tend towards sharp and muscular) so I'm worried it'll make me look rectangular. I would appreciate any thoughts! :)

I absolutely love that dress, especially the simple and clean shape! You probably will keep it in your closet for a long time because of the timeless style. What fabric is the dress made of? I personally always make sure it is a long-lasting and natural fabric that feels good on my skin.
If it looks too 'boxy' you could always add a thin belt to exaggerate your waist :luvluv:

I don’t know how helpful this is but this dress is similar but with more waist definition?

Love the belt idea! I will try that! I think the fabric is polyester sadly, but Aritzia’s polyester has never disappointed. (If anyone isn’t familiar, I highly recommend!)

I do like this dress too, but I’m trying to stay away from something ‘sexy’ as I want to be able to wear this dress casually.

You ladies convinced me - I’m going to buy it! It’s $40 on sale from $140 and frankly I’ll never get a more beautiful dress for such a good deal.

I‘m so glad this thread exists because I need your advice about which pair of shoes I should buy! I don’t own any loafers and really cannot decide between those two. For me it is important if the clothing piece or here, shoe is timeless.
I appreciate your help!!🤍

I think you should go for the Gucci ones. The design is an absolute classic (Its been there since the 1950s) which will definitely look good in 5-10 years too. The Prada ones are cool and edgy and I like the chunkiness, but I feel they will look a little dated in a few seasons. Also, I would feel a little uncomfortable wearing logoed items to work/internship. But of course, that also depends on the industry you are working in/ headed too,... IMO the Gucci ones are far more versatile and subtle. Go for them

(I hope that made sense – I am writing this in deep brain fog – 2 exams and too little food and sleep this week... So sorry for the lack of good spelling and eloquence.)

Thank you for your response and I definitely agree with you. As I said, I prefer timeless items and therefore I wasn’t entirely sure about the Prada ones.
well, I just saw that you’re from Berlin, just as I am, so don’t worry about spelling!! Ich habe bestimmt auch einige Schreibfehler im englischen, aber in Deutsch wäre es bestimmt nicht besser hahah.
Thank you again!

Sorry to bump this thread, but I was browsing Etsy today and am in a dilemma about which of these to buy (because I’m trying to save for a holiday and not buy both )

Item 1 - Vent Vent by Pierre Balmain jacket

Would look super cute with skinny jeans and black boots, and seasonally appropriate as it’s getting colder here.

Item 2 - 1989 Moschino “Cruise Me Baby” collection knit bodycon dress

A little more expensive than Item 1 and less seasonally appropriate, but I do love it. Some slight concerns - I am quite busty so I don’t know how flattering it’ll be on me seeing as the model is quite flat.

I absolutely love the first jumper!! 😍 I would definitely buy it, if only because it’s very versatile and you’ll probably wear it quite often- and not just in the colder months. (Also, the jumper/skinny jeans/boot combo is so timeless and chic.)
I also LOVE the dress, and if it doesn’t break the bank I’d buy it too. Is it for an occasion? Or just because? What I find with body-con dresses such as that one is that they’re either extremely flattering or extremely not. I’m not a fan of body-con dresses myself because I find them to be uncomfortable and hard to move in, but I have no doubt it’d look absolutely amazing on you- so if you know you’ll wear it eventually and it isn’t too much, I do think you should get it
If you’re only looking to buy one, though, I’d go with the jumper. However I love them both!

Yes, that’s what I thought too! It’s so versatile and I think I’ll wear it a lot especially now that it’s getting cold here in Sydney.

Not for any particular occasion, just because I like it  I agree though, I’m wary to buy a dress online without trying it on for comfort/sizing and to see if it’s flattering.

If you’re only looking to buy one, though, I’d go with the jumper. However I love them both!
Yes, I think buying the jumper is the option I’m leaning towards! Thank you for your reply

I vote the jacket as well. It’s something I would wear 😀 The dress will date. Personally I’m not a fan of body con dresses. They give me flash backs to when they were all the rage in the late 2000s - early 2010s and worn to death by the likes of the Kardashians etc. Jacket is v versatile and could be worn with not just jeans, but dresses and skirts as well. If you look after it you’ll have it forever.

Ugh girls please help I went into Sandro for fun the other day and tried on this dress and fell in love with it. But it's double what I would even treat myself to on a special occasion and my mom said that it doesn't look like an expensive dress (I'm canadian so the currency conversion turns it to an almost C$500 dress)...I am getting a bonus from work so I could even though it wouldn't be the most financially responsible but I could....should I?
The lace is so on the shoulders are so delicate...

It’s pretty, but I agree with your mum that it doesn’t look super ‘expensive’ as such. If you really love it go for it, but personally I wouldn’t spend that much on that dress.

Try checking Poshmark for this exact dress. I just did a quick search and found a NWT size 0 being sold for USD $290 (seller is taraelizposh) aka 40% off retail.

Poshmark has a lot of New with Tags and excellent condition Sandro pieces that people gain weight and no longer fit into, and you can find them priced in the $100-250 range which is closer to what the quality price ratio should be for their pieces. I’ve had a bunch of their dresses that I’ve tried on in store, passed on because of price, and found them NWT a year later on Poshmark (and they seem fully authentic to me in terms of fabric thickness and lace quality etc).

So, I work in a pretty fancy restaurant and I’m a hostess. We have to wear all black, but I just recently found out we’re allowed to wear dresses (especially because the weather is getting so much warmer here.)

I realllllly love this dress:

But my goal is to save my money to buy a new MacBook for college, I currently have a MacBook Air from 2017 but I want a faster one with more storage for when I go away this fall. The dress is about $90 so not bad, but I just don’t know if I should… I really love it though:luv: and I’d definitely get good usage out of it. Help would be much appreciated!

Where is it from? It’s so gorgeous! I say it’s definitely worth it, the price is not bad if the piece is made with quality, I am sure it will last a long time. You can always keep saving for the Mac! But I don’t think $90 would hurt the savings as much considering a new Mac is usually around $1500. But again, I am one of the most impulsive buyers :whistling:
