SG hate

This is my first time looking at this thread, but the Joyci girl literally has an account on here- I think she only posted once or twice (maybe a month ago?) before she was scared off, but her username was almost identical to her Twitter name. One of her friends joined at the same time and her username was also identical to everything she uses on social media :badgirl: Now I need to find her account profile :whistling:
My theory: everyone who publicly hates on Skinnygossip secretly has an account on here. If you tweet about how bad it is, no one will ever trace that account back to you, right?
Ahh Joyci is my mutual on twt if you find her account let me know i'm feeling sneaky :whistling: But just so you all know she follows and likes a lot of ed related accounts and posts so i'm kinda glad shes not browsing anymore (at least not as often as far as I know); at least until she finds a healthier mindset when it comes to food and herself.

(she'll probably see or hear about this this since some of her twitter followers/mutuals i'm sure are on sg as well and might let her know but oh well:yawn:)

Yes, SG is triggering to many people with EDs. But that's not the fault of the site - rather, it's the disorder that we have to blame. For example, people with EDs can be triggered by regular weight loss forums, MFP, hell, even food/cooking shows. Does that mean that Gordon Ramsey is pro-ana? For mentally healthy people, these things are not triggers. I might be wrong, but I think most people with EDs who come to SG to be triggered are deflecting the blame away from the real problem.

I definitely agree. Its not sg's fault i'm just glad that someone with an obvious ed is staying away from something they are aware can be a strong trigger whether that's SG or the food network really makes no difference.

Her before pics arent even professional modeing pics, theyre pics of her out with friends.. so of course shes smiling...
She isnt smiling in her professional pictures because, if you havent already realized this, and you clearly havent models arent supposed to smile. Unless they were instructed to.
She looks sick? Thats body shaming, you faux body positive dicks.

if she were truly unhappy, she wouldn't be doing it. Anyway. I look forward to spam loving everything she posts on instagram and laughing at the plebs.

I can sympathise with the sentiment but one not entirely insignificant difference between Gordon Ramsay and SGF is our overt promotion of a skinny extreme. Of course, we're a rather niche website in a not-too-crowded corner of the Internet so I incline to agree that most anonymous lurkers come here by design, but we also can't claim innocence on par with the random food show host.

Oh definetely. My point was more concerning how, for people with EDs, there's more to it than the pursuit of skinniness or a fascination/obsession food. Those things in itself are not necessarily mental illnesses and it's incredibly harmful if the general public perceives things to be that way. It's like saying OCD is only about washing your hands or turning the lights on and off. The reductionist perception of EDs that floats around in the media has led to a sort of trivialisation or misunderstanding of the basis behind eating disorders. We can't solve the problem by looking at triggers alone - that is putting a bandaid over a bullet wound. I agree that I didn't put it very articulately in my post.

That thread is a trainwreck. It went from saying that SG is "pro-ana" to selling underage girl's pics to the deep web to not accepting black girls. What kind of mental gymnastics is this?

Maybe we can't claim innocence, but tbh this site is literally the only place I've been able to find in which it's acceptable to glorify skinniness WITHOUT glorifying EDs. I used to lurk ED websites because there was no other place to hear people echo my appreciation of beautifully skinny people and the desire to look like that. It's really easy to slip into ED-style thinking if that's what you associate with consistently. I'd say that, for people without an ED and without the mental propensity for one, this site is ridiculously healthy, because it requires you to think of skinniness as SEPARATE from EDs.

I wouldn't expect outsiders to understand that. But it makes me feel happy about being a member.

(ED COMMUNITIES? SG is explicitly anti-ed. She really 'rated' communities that promote disordered eating highly)

Someone made a video on YouTube about skinnygossip and what we say about Kate Upton. It's from a while ago, but I haven't seen it anywhere on here and the juxtaposition between this woman and this site's members amuses me, as well as the obvious jealousy and defensiveness.

(I'm not sure how to embed a video so sorry about that)

What a coincidence that this thread saw a recent spike— almost posted earlier a result from my decision to search ‘Skinny Gossip’ on Facebook. Because if we get what we get on Twitter, one can only imagine, right?
What else do I find but a group called ‘human beings against Skinny Gossip’. It’s pretty old & doesn’t look to have been updated in a while, but I had to laugh at the name alone. Human beings. Okay, so what do you consider the members of the site? Just because we may weigh less doesn’t mean that we are.

Because how could anyone argue with that? :eyeroll:

Also I won't give them another link but there is a new thread on MPA about how we're all actually middle-aged child pornographers or whatever. The usual yawn. It does spike the applications though.
