Game of Thrones

Cersei's walk of shame was one of the most uncomfortable things I have ever seen. I don't even know why I care so much, but it seriously bothered me. More than Ned's beheading and anything else.

At this point, I just can't gather much enthusiasm for the show or the books. Half of the characters I don't care about, then there are so many randomly missing or dead, so many side plots are going on, it just became too convoluted IMHO.

I stopped watching the show after the first season because I finished reading the books and could bear seeing on screen stuff I had read about already. My thoughts when reading the last book were exactly this: too many sideplots, too many good characters dead, I cannot follow the story line anymore. :smash:

I love the fan theory that Jon Snow is not really dead and in fact he is not Ned Stark's son but a child to Lyanna and Rhaegar Targaryen which would kind of make him the rightful king. A lot of action in recent season pointed in this direction. I hope it goes this way

Yup. Exactly. There is a reason why 99% of successful books and movies just feature only major characters. Otherwise, while confronted with a 1000 different people ( Oisha, Rickon, etc) you just find yourself not giving a shit after a certain point.

Yes yes, Martin wanted to create something that would be more "life-like". People read books however because they want to immerse themselves in a world of fantasy, where usually things are easy and a good, relatable guy wins. If I wanted to watch something life-like and "real", a world of shades of grey where there are a lot of side character and everyone ends up hurt, I'd probably just turn on the news.

I like the fact that there are so many sideplots and characters because it's the whole point of the story - there's one iron throne and seven different kingdoms, and the large number of characters accurately portrays what is going on in all of them. I never really got into Game of Thrones until recently so I am at the peak of loving it haha, and I agree Cersei's walk of shame was so awful it went on for like 8 minutes...but I'm excited to see how she's going to take revenge next season :sneaky: I honestly never thought I'd be rooting for Cersei but I feel so bad for her

Yeah I've heard this one as well, I think Melisandre will bring him back to life because I think it was mentioned in one of the past seasons. Also so only wants to have sex with people that are the "rightful heirs" for the shadow baby thing and she came onto him in season 4
Also as soon as she realised she fucked up she went straight to Jon Snow, and there's no way she would just let him die randomly if she was right there. And Jon Snow's last words were "ghost" :naughty:

Sorry for the super long post I fucking love this show

Eh....I haven't read the books and I didn't know about the fan predictions but honestly, yeh. The moment he got murdered after she arrived, my first thought was automatically that she would resurrect him. I found this season unfulfilling although not sure why. Daenerys was so ineffective as a leader, and so passive. Cersei's walk of shame had me pity her but I remind myself that she is the catalyst for starting everything in Game of Thrones, with the execution of Ned Stark....She is such a dumb b****. She had rather engage in petty jealousy and scheming over solidifying her relationship with the only ally (the Tyrell's)they had....

Oddly enough, having not read the books, I thought from the first series he was probably Lyanna's son, but I assumed it was with Robert as the father at first. Nothing about him being the son of some extra marital fling Ned had made any sense at all, it would be an utterly out of character thing for him to do, but being wrongly thought of as an adulterer for years to help keep his sister's child safe would be his sort of thing.

The motivation behind the Rhaegar theory is that Ned also kept secret from Robert so that he did not kill the child - I don't think Ned would keep Robert's baby from him.

This just happened:luv: can we just have Khal Drogo come back? That might make up for season 5.

Yes! Can't wait for episode 3 already and I'm so curious to know how it will all end, I'm addicted to the ending theories videos on youtube

Same! I love watching analyses of the episodes after they air also. And yes episode 3 was set up to be so heartbreaking I can't wait to see what will happen.

I literally looked at my partner at the end of ep2 and said "*so n so* is going to die next week and I'm going to cry"

I read the books long before the series started and totally predicted the Jon/Targaryen thing. I'm curious about how it's going to wrap up and a little bent that he didn't finish writing the books before the series.

Am I the only one who thinks the show has become practically unwatchable lately?
The quality of writing has dropped to such a point that I can't get through a scene without cringing now, and much of the acting is painful to watch as well.

***SPOILERS AHEAD***

Arya is a great example of what's wrong with the show for me now. She started out as my favorite character, but over the course of the series she's become totally arrogant and achieved this badass, world-savior status without (in my opinion) doing anything to really earn it. She got back to Winterfell all smug and bitchy, with zero compassion for her sister or respect for older, more seasoned female warriors like Brienne. I kept waiting for someone to put her in her place and no one ever did. She just gets rewarded for her terrible behavior by getting all the biggest moments of glory the show has to offer. Oh, and don't even get me started on the sex scene. Can you imagine if the gender roles had been reversed there? She was rape-y AF.
