Sorry. Had to go there. :whistling:

What is your guys' take on the new addition to the royal family?
Personally, I'm rather disappointed in her choice of wedding dress. :meh:

Same here re: wedding dress choice. I thought it was a bit underwhelming for the location. I usually love Givenchy, but don't think that was great.

Love the women though.

I’m not extremely well versed on this topic. Only through my older sister who is obsessed haha anyway.

You do have to take into account that she is marrying into the royal family. She’s already walking on eggshells considering her background. She can’t quite dress like she’s going to the Met Galla or Cannes.

All the dresses have looked pretty similar to hers except Princess Di (and we all know the royal family felt about her). The only other really extravagant dress was ironically Queen Elizabeth II

I went to a Royal Wedding watch party this morning and spent an embarrassing amount of time analyzing the whole wedding. I thought her dress choice was tasteful and elegant, but yet still left me wanting more. I much preferred Kate's dress, especially when seeing them next to each other.

Meghan looked beautiful, though. And it was a fun excuse to drink champagne at 6 am.

I much preferred her reception dress.

GORGEOUS!!!!

The wedding dress... I dunno. The veil was absolutely gorgeous, but the dress itself fell a bit flat for me.
I felt like it didn't quite fit her snugly enough so her whole upper body just looked sort of... blah.
The neckline and shoulders are very elegant, but below that feels very... nothing-y.... Also, I'm not crazy about her choice of tiara. It looks like it's made of plastic.
Definitely pales in comparison to Kate's, IMO. I can understand her wanting to go in her own unique direction, but I was personally disappointed by the choice.

LOVE her reception dress!

I feel like her wedding dress almost needed to be altered a bit, it looked too lose. In this photo you can see her sleeves looking quite baggy.

From what I have heard, Keller carefully made the dress respecting a few details. Not only that the protocol asks to have the arms covered, but this design was meant to reveal the shoulders in such a manner that when she was filmed from above to inspire decency.

As for the tiara, it's a combination of the "something borrowed, something old" wedding tradition. It was created and 1932 and was offered to her by Elisabeth II.

I loved her wedding dress and tiara choice (Queen Mary's diamond bandeau with the centre brooch dating to 1893) I thought it all suited her perfectly. And the veil had the floral emblems of all 53 commonwealth countries/territories.

I liked the dress, but loved the veil. Not sold on silk cady for a full-length A-line skirt with trail? And I'm underwhelmed that the dress is essentially just a combination of the silhouette of look 30 and the material of look 18 of Givenchy's most recent couture show--essentially turning the aisle of St. George's Chapel into a direct continuation of last season's runway.

Anyway, I much prefer the sleek minimalism she's been curating over the last couple months to the gaudy baroqueness of her engagement shoot gown. Nothing against Ralph and Russo--except the naked crystal dress which is dead by several red carpets already--it's just they're pm antithetical to British taste, and a somewhat tone-deaf choice for the then duchess-to-be.

Harry looked so happy though, which was really endearing, as was Prince Charles giving her away.

This is what I was talking about.

Not to nitpick, but I find her center part in her hair a bit aging...

Reception dress looked much better, and I understand her wanting to go for a timeless look, but I found the wedding dress itself a bit plain. I agree that her veil was beautiful though.

The reception dress was great, a good mix of sexy + classy + elegant, what I saw of the ceremony was amazing - the (semi) modern fairytale I was expecting. I'm sure she is a nice person and I hope they are happy blah blah.

But I'm just going to say it - I find her kind of homely. Not ugly, but so average. Her face is OK but her body is stocky and masculine. Still though I am so happy to see a divorced biracial American girl marrying into British royalty and making them update their ways/thinking.

She wasn't always stocky.

I thought the dress was very reminiscent of the what the danish crown princess wore in 2004, and I do like Mary’s better (I’m biased as a dane) But classic and royal :luvluv:

I definitely agree, I found it was quite ill-fitting.

I also did much prefer the reception dress. IMO I saw resemblance to a Ralph Lauren dress Emma Watson wore in 2014 -

I prefer Meghan’s dress, simply because I like the way it flows in the lower half of the dress.

Just no to the entire presentation. Both dresses are ill-fitting - it looks like she had her last dress fittings a week or so ago, dropped another few lbs, and didn't have time to alter again. With proper tailoring the simplicity and elegance of the designs would have been fantastic.

I wasn't a fan of her dress either, I also thought that it looked like it didn't fit right. I also thought that if it had been made if a different fabric/was more tailored it would have looked better but still had the element of modesty and coverage from top angles.

I do find that these pictures put forward by the royal family make the dress look a lot more flattering.

I also hate the messy hairstyle. I get that she was going for a relaxed look and wants to "be herself" but it was just so basic and blah and YAWN.

GIRL!!!! YOU MARRYING A PRINCE!!!!!!!! GIVE US SOME GLAMOUR FFS!!!!!!

The more I look at it the more underwhelmed I am by the whole thing.
The thickness of the dress fabric accentuates how badly it fits her arms and torso, and what she has of a waist isn't defined at all.
She could have delivered some high-fashion drama for the viewers and still stayed true to her personal aesthetic.

...Or at least gotten it properly fitted!!!!! :headbang:

She wasn't always stocky.
She always had great pins but her upper body is relatively stocky, even when she was thin for a celeb.
But she’s slim enough and average is relatable and “humble” and enough for the masses.
