Shit Model Management / Shitmodelmgmt / Agency Whistle Blower

Oh woah! I've worked with a few of the photographers listed (which feels weird since I haven't modeled in quite a while) there is one that doesn't have an asterisk but definitely should and at least one more I could add to the list.

Oliver Zahm, sad but unfortunately not surprised :/

Does anybody know what the story is behind this is? I gues Hollie May Saker falsely accused a photographer, which is so messed up!

Uh, no. I wanted an outlet to go anonymous. There was one for the Skinny Gossip confessions thread. I wasn’t asking to specifically become a VIP and to have everyone else that has stories to tell to become a VIP as well, that would make no sense. :eyeroll:
Also, trying to crack jokes when we talking about such a serious, sad and very sensitive topic is so rude...

@Alpha Bullcock Would it be possible for there to be another anon function for this thread as there was for confessions? It sounds as though it might be somewhat useful for some of the members here to be able to share more detailed information.

Did anyone by chance screenshot the list before it was taken down today at midnight? My phone died before I could, and I couldn't get to my phone in time to do so..

Also, I know a couple of photographers on that list and I'm 110% not surprised. I wish I had enough courage to put mine on the list but.. it's so much easier said than done. 6 years later and I'm still afraid to go public.

I hope the VIP that posted this can see this.

Firstly, I wanted to apologize that something traumatic happened to you in the first place. Being violated by another person is an especially painful kind of trauma because you doubt whether or not it's worth it to put yourself in a position to be potentially hurt again.

Secondly, it's important to note that even though you might feel an immediate pressure to talk about it because you feel it's the strong thing to do (even though it was a while ago), remember that the strongest thing to do is always to take care of yourself and mental health. I know it's corny, but people often overlook personal care in favor of being a secure, courageous person. In the past, I've confronted trauma a little to promptly because I and others (but mostly myself) thought it was what I needed to do. And when I say "a little too promptly," that isn't a definitive amount of time. "Too promptly" can definitely mean 6 years if it's something you're still not ready for. This is not to say that being open about your pain isn't liberating sometimes -- it can be -- , but it is almost never liberating when you feel you have to force it out of yourself against your own will.

It sounds like it is something that you want to work towards, though, and that alone is enough to be proud of yourself. If you can make sure that publishing that information is safe for you as an individual, I wholeheartedly believe that it's a hardship you can tackle, whatever the outcome. Best of luck <3

There is an Instagram called something like 'protect models' and they have the screenshots on their page.

And I am extremely sorry to hear that you had bad experience with photographer,I hope you're ok now.

Yip but it's hard to feel sorry for girls when ten minutes of research on the internet will tell them that a reputable agency will not ask for money up front.
You would think that's the case, but so many people are dumb as bricks. I only know about this from the acting world, but it looks like exactly the same scenario plays out - desperate, ignorant parents and non-talented idiots who haven't had proper training but just "decided" to become actors (because obviously it's totes easy) are the ones who end up financing scam agencies. All you have to do is type "X Agency Scam" into Google to find takedowns. Hell, past dupes have even left bad, lengthy Google reviews on those "agency" pages! And yet they'll line up to drop $5000-$10,000 on headshots and classes which can *only* be provided exclusively by *that* agency, which should be yet another massive red flag...

The words "We think you have so much potential and you could make it huge; you just have to take these classes we provide which you have to pay for" should be a warning, but to so many they aren't...

The words "We've worked with these young kids who are now famous" should mean NOTHING to a 50y/o real estate agent or a 25 y/o Army vet, but they don't even stop to think "can this agency market someone of my type effectively?"

I don't have much sympathy for the dumbasses, but it does bother me that the scammers are tainting the integrity of the industry.

Wihelmina has licensed subsidiaries, much like Elite does. Elite London, Paris, LA and The Society as well as Wilhelmina NY, LA, London, Miami are 100% legit and as a result, probably have better payment. The others, like Elite NY (and other cities) or Wilhelmina in other cities just bought access to the name and aren't managed by the same people, and aren't publicly traded in Wilhelmina's case (whereas the NY/London/Miami/LA is publicly traded)
I’d be interested in your opinions on IMG?

From what I’ve seen written on the forums, it’s a legitimate agency but they put all their effort into their ‘stars’ and much less into development and new faces

I’m in Australia and I applied for chic and I’ve been asked into a meeting, do you know if chic is
reputable? I noticed it was on the list of not legitimate modelling agencies.

I'm not an insider by any stretch but I'd take most of that list with a grain of salt. Walk in ready to listen, be professional, be gracious, and scour any contract offered with a fine toothed comb. Be prepared and willing to walk away from anything that feels uncomfortable and/or wrong.

Hopefully someone else had some proper insight. This is just the advise I'd give anyone looking to sign a contract in any industry.

This was insightful and extremely helpful, thank you :)

I feel like I also need to qualify that the list that I'm taking about is the agency list and the reason why is simply because I don't know, or feel like, they did any kind of proper vetting. It IS a whistle blower list but none of us know who or what the circumstances were. That's not to discount or detract from anyone's personal experience - just acknowledging the question mark of anonymity. *Marcus @Monster got dragged hard and it was later shown as a mistake.

That said I DO know and have worked with a few of the photographers on the list (and could add a few)... and with regards to that I would say take precautions - have a minder (parent, friend, unobtrusive but visible witness) onset. Even if you're certain in your convictions it's helpful to have a witness when things start swinging a different direction.

Those aren't mistakes, it's people with agendas to ruin other people's reputation. That's why I'm always skeptical and uncomfortable about anonymous accusations.
