Romee Strijd

A good friend of mine has worked with her on several projects and said that she eats 1/4-1/3 of what she posts, and no more. She also exercises a minimum of 2hours a day, typically closer to 3.
If she eats this little and exercises that much, shouldn’t her body look different??

I kind of love her from her vlogs which makes me want to cut her some slack but they don’t look that great in pap photos from Miami... Bad photos...? (And as much as it shocks me to admit it Josephine is the only one that surprised me in a positive way??? I think Romee is still smaller than her but not by as much as I would have thought/hoped.) Elsa looks enormous :busted:

A little OT, but I think Josephine sometimes appears a little bigger than she actually is - she often poses like this, which is kind of unflattering imo. That could be one of the reasons why she might look better in real life/candids. Of course she's not as thin as Romee, even though Romee gained some lately (and to me, still looks good and healthy)

I think Jo tries to look curvier in photos because that's more of her angle (hence the boob job, butt exercises, etc)

Yes I noticed that too! She’s also showing more of her stomach and less legs in a lot of pictures, which to me is her best feature, so it makes sence.

i feel like she's being misguided by being a VS angel and following their health/fitness routines...all of the girls in the show this year looked huge

A few of them looked amazing, I don’t think for example Romee or Ming Xi looked bad. But of course, there were many more amazing-looking models besides the huge ones.

i definitely agree that was a total generalization. but i do think the over all body type they were trying to show was one more larger/muscular

I don’t think she’s letting herself go, she’s just gained a bit after the show. From the past years, it’s obvious she’s most toned and skinny during the time of the VSFS, and then gets a little softer afterwards.

Last year:

I think she has a bodybuilder mentality in that she has a 'contest weight' where she restricts heavily and works out to be ready for the show and then experiences a post-contest weight gain as she loosens the reins after working so hard, especially with the holidays etc. I can see how that helps her stay sane.

I think you two are right.

This is what fitness models who have a career that last typically do, not just bodybuilders. In season, they go down to their "photogenic" bodyfat level, and out of season, they allow their body fat to raise a few percentage points. The few who have careers that span years all, all do this. Jamie Eason used to be my best example, as she had a few statements out about what offseason really meant for female bikini models... but im not sure if she's working anymore. (Many guy bodybuilders talk about epic bingeing post-contest and offseason, but the girls cant afford the calories- neither can the "natty" guys.) Most fitness models only work a year or two, because staying at photoshoot bodyfat level year-round, on top of the heavy year-round lifting, is really taxing and pretty much impossible. Sets you up for injuries or to get sick. But seasonal cycling is quite a different level of discipline to master. "Loosens the reins" is a nice phrase for it- for she does still hold the reins and steers, just less calculatedly.

The female finess models with a lasting career dont binge after season and gain shit tons. That would make it way too hard to get back to photogenic. They just are a little less strict, and bodyfat goes up, but never up to supposed "ideal" levels, just rises out of "dangerous"/ultralean for awhile. Staying that higher bodyfat a couple months a year- if you can stand it psychologically- is actually better hormonally. It makes it sustainable. Most people who dont have to frame the timing around their career choose to peak their bodyfat for summer...

If youre NOT a fitness model/bodybuilder... Training must be changed seasonally too, if you alter diet/bodyfat seasonally, or you can easily end up bulky in a few years. Like, i gain muscle easy. So if youre like that.... while youre leaning out, you can lift and exercise kinda whatever, bc you wont gain much muscle and itll mostly just help you retain what you have... but during the periods where your bodyfat is higher, your better off doing yoga and walking, and maybe a little bodyweight stuff, but definitely no lifting heavy or power work. If you keep too much intense workouts in year-round, in a few years you do gain significant bulk.

VS girls overall look more like fitness models than model-models, so i think it's relevant what fitness models do bodywise and dietwise... it's interesting, even if it's not the direction we aim for.

I honestly am a little curious how Romee is altering VS's plan, and if she is just not muscular genetically, or -probably- both are a factor. Its been like 2-3 years shes been with VS...

She's paid a lot of money to be an angel...she's not being "misguided," she's following the demands of her specific job. If she were HF thin (which, by the way, she's closer to than most if not all VS models especially angels) she would break contract probably, and lose her job. Just like if a HF model gained 10 lbs of muscle and looked less fragile. Apples and oranges.

I guess people were thinking she was pregnant? In her last vlog she did lot a bit softer, but I wouldn't of drawn that conclusion. I think she looks fabulous in this photo!

I think that was in response to this photo because she's wearing the same bikini.

Can't wait for Aug/Oct when she'll (hopefully) start looking amazing again

I'm not sure how to articulate this but my major thing when I say she's gained isn't meant to pick her apart or put her down but rather it's more like... Her body a few months ago was my absolute ideal and it seemed like that was a lot more sustainable that pure starving. So is her cycle of fluctuations more a thing specific to her wants and something that she just chooses or is it more to do with the fact that such low bf% combined with muscle is actually harder to maintain than just having less muscle to begin with? I really want to eventually spend less time thinking about my weight but cannot imagine not caring about being skinny
