I feel like the "I would never spend so much one one makeup item" attitude can be a bit of an act to seem more relatable to a teen audience, similar to the "junk food lover" personality these girls put on for interviews.

I completely agree, that comment totally seemed like she was faking a humble attitude to please her then fans (she wasn't that famous and just moved to NYC to study)

Can't wait to see her flab jiggle all over the VS runway !

She wasn't looking bad a year ago, I would be freaking out if I had to walk a VS show in that body.
It is in 24 days. What is she relying on to lose all that weight in such a short amount of time? On lipo laser maybe?

My current apartment was put on the market by my landlord for $2million. It's only one bedroom. Its a really big bedroom to be fair, but still a crazy amount. In Dumbo, Brooklyn. I agree with @espressoenthusiast if you have a few million, it can be blown away quick.
And if you do drugs? Or live a hard lifestyle? 100 to 0 real quick. That's why a lot of dealers (after doing time) don't have a lot to show for it. Lived fast, blew it all. It is frightenly easy to spend a few mil and have very little to show for it.

She has two months until the show so I'm going to guess she either really doesn't give a damn and is going to stay how she is or she'll start heavily restricting and working out, & maybe lose like 10 pounds (but still look dumpy). Either way, it seems insulting to the other girls who are openly working their asses off to look their best.

And, sure a year ago she wasn't looking bad but I can't say I think she looked healthy and in shape either. She just is not cut out to be a model whatsoever and at this point, she isn't even trying :meh:

I thought the show was the 28th November in Shanghai which is in less than 1 month.
I completely agree with you, she wasn't looking super good either last year but she could have worked from there instead of completely letting herself go. Even 'insta models' try harder than her, if her ed is what makes her fluctuate the modeling industry is not for her.

Oh for some reason I thought it was at the end of December. Oops!

Having trouble wrapping my head around the concept of "he's not that rich, he's only a millionaire." I'll be more open in the money thread just created, but this is a fascinating subject to me.

A billionaire can buy an island, can have a private jet, a yacht, and extremely fine works of art in their homes and/or aforementioned yacht (warhols, basquiat, picassos, etc.)

How goes the joke again? The difference between a millionaire and a billionaire is three zeros and a comma? And those zeros absolutely do take practical effect, though the first two more so than the last, and only at net worths in the 11 digits can you do truly whatever you want.

Just to flesh out @espressoenthusiast's note on purchasing power:
If you buy a boat at $10MM, the annual upkeep will usually run in the millions. Same with jets. I think the G450 is $40MM-something new, $15MM pre-owned, with maintenance and other expenditures totaling upwards of two millions a year. At Christie's Post-War and Contemporary auction in two weeks, the new Da Vinci is estimated at $100MM, the van Gogh at $50MM (and yes, both are guaranteed). Heck, even something as trivial as a good fur is >$60k. You can't sustainably consume at that level even if you're worth in the high double-digit millions.

Private islands are surprisingly inexpensive, actually. MUCH cheaper than London real estate. You can easily find one for less than a mill.

Oh for some reason I thought it was at the end of December. Oops!

Filming is November 20th.

Okay sorry this is a little OT of the current conversation but I found this comparison of Bella in Nov 2016 (one year ago) and July 2017 like obviously we know she's gained but like... how is she a spokesperson for Nike??? An athletic brand??? View attachment 18813View attachment 18814
She's gained more since July too. If I cared enough I would make my own more recent comparison. Can't wait to see her flab jiggle all over the VS runway !
i think she's taking the whole relatable "i eat burgers like everyone else" thing way too fucking far now damn :wtf: or maybe it's her ego because she knows she'll be booked for everything because she's bella hadid regardless of her hip measurement

At this point she's mostly a celebrity so I don't think her size really matters. She has Lyme, living her life, getting booked. She looks to be a "healthy weight" and looks happier. I don't think she feels pressure to prove herself anymore.

She's definitely presenting as more "celebrity" than model these days, gigi too. I'm happy they seem to be phasing out a little bit

The thing I really don't get, is I have chronic Lyme and it makes it literally almost impossible to eat. Like I have to follow a strict Auto immune paleo diet in order to keep my symptoms at bay, and while I understand it's bioindividual, most girls I know with Lyme follow the same protocol- it's usually the first thing doctors prescribe. I'm surprised she's even able to function at all with that diet.

Side note.. WTF. This is inexusable. I'm genuinely shocked that this was allowed to be published. It's essentially blackface- she even is noticeably covered in a dark bronzer.

Okay so one late, late night tumblr suggested this Bella fan blog for me to follow and I was bored so I creeped around and started reading their FAQs and anyway they have this theory that the Hadids might be totally bullshitting about their Lyme disease. I didn't read the entire response but found it interesting as I skimmed it over.

^ Read the word "homeopathic doctor" and instantly stopped. Homeopathy is a load of BULLSHIT. I've had "homeopathic doctors" recommend INSANE doses of vitamins. Anyway..

Homeopathy itself is based on several principles, of which I currently only remember two:
1) The poison is the cure. So if you get disease X from compound W, then low doses of compund W will fully treat the disease.
2) The lower the dose, the higher the potency... because apparently diluting and shaking a liquid activates the "vital substance" of that liquid. For example, some homeopathic solutions are diluted to the concentration of "30C" which in laymans terms means a dilution by a factor of 10^60 (that is 10 followed by 60 zeros). If you're thinking this is essentially expensive purified water, you would be 100% correct.

Back on topic, any disease diagnosed by a homeopathic doctor might as well be diagnosed by a witch doctor... in fact I'm more inclined to trust the witch doctor.

If the Hadids do indeed employ an exten$$$ive homeopathic regimen, they're even more stupid (and foolish) than previously thought. 2 seconds of googling and that's all it'd take.

More on the B.S. of homeopathy (not a great source but it's a starter): https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homeopathic_dilutions

It's the vogue Italia cover from November 2015.
The wigs were mostly pastel colours and Gigi was moreso the tanned sports illustrated chick back then, so I don't think people thought much of it.

I don't agree that tanned and an afro on a white girl = blackface.
My natural hair is very curly/frizzy/afro-like, and I know quite a few other girls who have natural afros (or extremely close to it) who aren't of African descent and I'd don't think they'd appreciate this conclusion just as I don't. I understand that girl with an afro wig =/= girl who naturally has an afro, but why is that even important? After all, wearing an afro wig and having a tan =/= trying to represent a different race or trying to popularize black culture. It's just a hairstyle that isn't at all exclusive to a single race, so let's please not get offended by it.

I agree that an Afro on a white girl is not the same as black face. Black face is deeply offensive as it perpetuates demeaning stereotypes and regardless of intent, you cant separate black face from its colonial history where people of African American descent were slaves and treated as lesser human beings.

However, a white girl who wears an Afro wig as a way to be trendy (I.e who does not naturally have hair like that)...it's a form of cultural appropriation and no different to a white girl wearing corn rows. In that photo there's no evidence that Gigi/the photographer understands and respects black culture. The fact that the modelling industry lacks diversity adds further insult to injury.

Yeah I apologize for the dumb mistake and irrelevance- I follow the stylist on instagram, and she had posted the photo two nights ago - my midterm sleep deprived self thought it was recent, even though I knew about the original shoot.

It's interesting to hear your thoughts on what constitutes black face @Tinyportia - I actually have to agree with you as there is an egregious nature to the act of actually painting ones face black that might be minimized by categorizing it under something that could be construed as cultural appropriation of a hair style.

I have a few friends who are activists, and black, that disagree. They refer to everything under the realm of appropriation as a form of blackface, so I'm still on the fence.

Totally agree about the insult to injury. There's not only a lack of diversity, but Hair and MUA still often don't know how and were not taught how to treat skin and hair that is not white. I have so many friends who still struggle with this, and end up having their hair messed up, or the wrong shades of makeup applied.
