Thinspiration Movies & Shows

I never understood the hype of that movie.
Could someone explain to me why did it become so popular?

Have you read the book? It was published around 6 years before the film was made and I believe it was very well received which might explain why people were interested in seeing the film. I also think the casting of James Woods and Kathleen Turner for the parents helped make it an interesting prospect.

I read the book when it first came out and found it very intriguing so was naturally interested in seeing the film and also in seeing what Francis Ford Coppola's daughter would be like as a director as I'd read somewhere he'd taught her a lot.

It's not my favourite film or book, but it's a very good movie adaptation of an interesting enough book so that's what I like about it!

I've been watching the British series 'Secret Eaters' lately. It makes me feel a bit paranoid about snacking, which definitely helps!
It is SO frustrating at the beginning of the episodes though! Watching people who are very overweight talking about how they feel like some days they don't actually eat enough food and that they hardly eat, so don't know how they can be the size that they are....... :cautious:

I saw this on Netflix the other day and I was going to post about her! The movie is interesting (and creepy) and very french, she's a stunning actress and I thought her body looked great in it. I know there is this stereotype about french girls being very thin but I can't help but wonder if it's true since I always find some thinspo when I watch french movies

you are right, I have been wondering about that as well! :)
One of my favorite movies, I have been totally in love with marine since it. That particular scene from your picture is stunning, she looks amazingly dainty in that underwear! what a beautiful girl!

I am obsessed with Latin dancer Yulia Zagoruychenko and her clips on youtube. She is poetry in motion. I have never seen anyone dancing like her, what she does with her long pins (despite being so short as 157cm ) is as amazing as the way she moves her fingers so gracefully.

Holy shit. I have to echo the youtube commentors here: That woman is a QUEEN.

:bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow:

Thanks for sharing!

By the way, I have to make an honorable mention for The 10th Kingdom, amazing fantasy miniseries of my childhood (and my avatar on this lovely website :p) It's a fantastic piece of work (if you have about eight hours to dedicate to it) and the main character Virginia inspires me in so many ways, including thin-spirationally!

I echo everyone who said Young and Beautiful, Marine is absolutely gorgeous.

Now disclaimer: I in no way mean to fetishize eating disorders. I see that there is a whole thread dedicated to Lily Collins.

I just watched To the Bone on Netflix and while Collins looked ill much of the time, I loved her in this particular scene. The overall/flannel combined with her dark hair and doll features.

I'm still impressed that she lost so much weight for this role. Eating disorders shouldn't be glamorized, but I thought this film was done really well. I liked Collins' character, too. The whole artist, moody-girl, quiet and mysterious movie trope is possibly overdone, but is still my favorite.

I didn't dislike To The Bone in terms of content or anything, I just felt like the plot sucked. I thoroughly enjoyed everything that happened in it but for some reason it just felt like a lot was missing for it to truly be a film.

That being said, it triggered me IMMENSELY. loved that.

Rookies. Stop. We just had this talk about threads glamorizing eating disorders and the two above posts do exact that.

Collins is playing a girl with an eating disorder, do not glamorize this. Even if just a movie, do not glamorize this. I'm sure you meant that you just liked this outfit or whatever, but it sounds very different. It definitely could be me here, but I don't think criticizing or admiring someone with an eating disorder's look is right.

Second post right above me, you say it triggered you and you loved being triggered? Your words are misleading.

I'm extremely passionate about this because my best friend just admitted to me about her eating disorder.

My "loved that" was sarcastic lol i thought that was obvious I apologize for the miscommunication!!!! Sarcasm doesn't translate well over typing :/ I'll edit my post and take that out. --- Kidding I can't edit it but for anyone else reading this interaction I was being sarcastic.

That's fucked up. Are you suffering from an ED or recovering from one?

Again- my "loved that" was sarcastic. My ED isn't really bad right now so i guess in between sufferring/recovering.

@lilangel I know some of these may have been exaggerated for social media, and perhaps it's not my place to say, but it seems like you might not be in the best place right now mentally to be spending time on a forum dedicated to weight loss and being skinny (despite this site promoting healthy weight loss).

I'm extremely uncomfortable that you went through my tweets to pick those ones out and posted them all on here. that being said, thank you for your concern. there are some exaggerations but the message there is the same in theory i guess.

the initial problem here was that you misread a comment i made sarcastically and so i apologized for that. and now you have brought my twitter into this and my well-being as well as my being on this site at all into question?? not sure why we are finding ways to see what things i've done that can be taken as a problem.

i'm very confused. but generally,
I am losing weight healthily now as my ED is not at a bad place and i don't really have anything to recover from (if that makes sense). me being suicidal or stressed out or depressed are all things that I am dealing with, which you now made public on the site by bringing them into this specific conversation where they were not relevant to the thread at all. but those are things that i'm dealing with with doctors, therapy, etc. and i still do tweet about them but that doesn't mean they're issues that are being ignored- i'm really trying to get my mental health to 100% prior to moving in a month.

I like skinnygossip because people here understand me more on a lot of levels. i don't know what other personal aspects of my life have to do with me being on this site, but if you were speaking from concern, then obviously thank you that means a lot but i'd rather have that done in a less public manner because i'm just very confused right now.

@lilangel I'm terribly sorry for any added distress I may have caused you, I was genuinely expressing concern and I perhaps should have done it more privately. I in no way intended to try to expose or call you out. I'm glad to hear you are doing better and truly hope you are well.

Seems like @lilangel didn't see this, or ignored it, why am I not surprised. :eyeroll:

:drama:
I'm not the one who initially brought up "To The Bone"- I just replied to what a girl said about it in a brief interaction. Did I do something wrong that I am not addressing? I thought the issue was that To The Bone was brought up in a way that glamourized it. I didn't do that. I did not initiate the discussion nor did I glamourize To The Bone myself. Please let me know what the issue is so I can take responsibility for it fully without looking like a bigger idiot.

Couldn't the same be said for Black Swan? The main character was anorexic/bulimic and yet it's listed in this thread.

My apologies regardless.

I get where you're coming from 100%.
to clarify, I'm not pro-ana. i am not emo i rarely use tumblr and i normally don't come with "drama" but i see why you'd think that.

sorry it's bugging you i don't really see how there's a solution to this? i think you're basing your assumptions of me based on a few things you've been exposed to in a short amount of time and while that is obviously not a fair judge of character i can't force you to reconsider my character and i'm not going to try to unless you'd be open to it. (this isn't meant to be taken offensively by the way i just can't find a better way to word it).

with that said, sorry i bugged you and i apologize for any and all miscommunications that i was involved in.
