Eugenia Cooney

Are some of us really still questioning the plausibility of her having anorexia? She is sick, there are no two ways about it.

It's just macabre at this point.

The people/family around her are failing her.
Clearly they seem to care more about her monetized YouTube income than her actual well being. I refuse to watch anymore of her videos.

I watched her latest video this morning about her "morning routine", because, like everyone else, I was curious if she included breakfast. (Shocker: Nope. I mean, neither do I, but I'd expected her to fake it for the sake of maintaining a facade).

What jumped out to me, signaling extreme weakness:

- She keeps apologizing for her poorly made bed/clothes being out? But it occurred to me tidying that might be too taxing to manage...?

- She takes a bath over a shower; baths are wicked nice but again this could be conserving energy

- She struggles to put back on the cap of her hairspray. I have bought the same kind and you can snap it just by applying pressure. She must not be capable of generating that force? (8:10)

I will be following suit. Unless something shifts drastically, no one gets anything from watching save Eugenia's reinforcement monetarily and psychologically.

@Intrinsicality @gracilis I agree, the state she is in is horrifying, but would her view counts falling really help her? I doubt she has much else (like school or another job) going on in her life, so maybe boycotting her might cause her more stress and worsen her ED?

I find it strange her family is not intervening though, as far as we can see. I mean, there is no way they're oblivious to her problem at this point. I don't want to believe they're onboard with her starving herself just because they know it brings in a lot of views, her mother seemed really nice. Huge, but nice. Obviously it's impossible to for us tell what's going on for sure, but something isn't right here. It seems hard to imagine they would let her starve herself to death though. Honestly, looking at her, I was genuinely surprised she managed to hold up the camera for such a long period. I wish there was some way we could help her, if her family refuses to :(

@vixen I'm not "boycotting" anything; that implies a level of care I really don't have toward Miss Cooney. I'm not ushering in social activism here, I meant I can't imagine the majority of her viewers click for the actual content she provides, so why click at all?

There is nothing in her online persona I find worthwhile. Her stress and ED being worsened by falling views is not my responsibility nor my concern and doesn't really reflect on anyone but Eugenia. Moot point. I think if anything she likes the attention, for ad money or just feeling like a special snowflake, and sating a clinical curiosity (am in health care, enjoy armchair assessing) isn't worth the bother.

@vixen; what @gracilis said.

First of all, Eugenia didn't even exist on my radar. If it wasn't for the hoopla surrounding her shocking cachectic appearance - she would probably be a nobody goth youtuber otherwise. Her content offers no substance apart from being very depraved, self-harming performance art at this point. Why are hundreds of thousands tuning in? Surely not for her wardrobe and make up tips? (Kafka's hunger artist, anyone?)

Her videos, self promotion and the audience she has cultivated is a vicious cycle. I want no part of that. Also, I am under no delusions that watching her content is somehow 'helping her'. It's not. She has only herself and those close to her in any real position to actually help her. Unfortunately they seem to be MIA. Nobody in internet world can do that for her. Ultimately whether we watch her or not... Any help requires actual physical and legal intervention from her family to get needed inpatient medical treatment. They need to get a conservatorship from the courts; this was explained by Silent Night earlier. It's doable but clearly no one's stepping up.

This has been my impression lately as well. It all strikes me as very morbid performance art. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like anyone will try to intervene.

How is she still functioning enough to stand?

Now, even her skin looks rotten...

I'm surprised she can stand on one leg for more than 3 seconds
Ditto. I also wonder if she's ever at all bothered that most clothing won't fit her now.
Maybe some children's clothing would fit, or if she got stuff tailored ... I know that she's really sick, so she probably likes it.
It's just so bizarre to watch someone model clothing that doesn't fit them.

Her voice in that last video is even more shrill than when I listened to her about a month ago. She's barely coherent.

So sad that this woman's life-threatening illness is being encouraged and supported by millions of online views. It seems like the online equivalent of rubbernecking on a highway to gawk at a car crash.

My question is - how does she maintain her hair? Unlike the rest of her body, her hair seems (to me) to be in pretty good condition. At her weight, I'd expect some thinning to occur. Do you think she wears extensions?

Wig? Extensions? There are so many options. Especially with the amount she must earn

I actually don't think she earns a really huge amount, although probably enough to buy wigs....

For most of the people who run blogs and vlogs I think earnings are sometimes exaggerated a lot by the press and this idea is sustained by the bloggers themselves.

I wonder if it's always been a wig? Would explain why her hair has always seemed "mismatched"

Not even I can find this thinspirational. It's sad how she's become a living corpse, or even more so than she was.
