Natalia Vodianova

I

I do love young Natalia but in these covers seems odd.

I think AB said this some time back, but I've actually heard a few people say it -- her facial expressions, especially her eyes, have not been the same since her first baby (2001?)

Yes, it's like she's not expressive anymore, or something similar. Absolutely no light in her eyes

Baby Natalia... She never had the best model body, but that FACE
:ijizzed::ijizzed::ijizzed::ijizzed:

Now she's still beautiful, but yea, that 'oomph' just isn't there anymore.

Thanks for posting these photos.. They make me think about my good old times!!
My model passion started, more or less,15 years ago when I was a teenager and I used to read Glamour Italia and saw this pic of baby Natalia. That day my life changed and I models became my biggest inspiration.

^^ I don't know why every model out there is trying to make the blond look happen when they look a million times better with the dirty blond/ light ash brown hair better.
- - - > Karlie is an obvious one that comes to mind as well.
Is there really some feeling attached to being blond haired, that blond status..

I never understood the hype over her as a high fashion model. Sure, she has great bone structure, but regarding the rest she is pretty uninspiring. Looks quite short, and I've never considered her versatile.

So weird. I feel like pregnancy/childrearing may change one's body but really shouldn't affect one's expressiveness. Why do you think this is?

I've had the impression for years that this tends to happen to (female) musicians a lot. Tori Amos comes to mind. It's as if they just lose some kind of spark, and become a dull version of themselves. I wonder why...

Gemma I think is the EPITOME of this post baby dullness effect. So sad

I'm guessing late nights with a baby and running around after kids can be exhausting and that would take its toll on some women - raising children can probably be easier or harder depending on your expectations/how much support you're provided.

--------
Edit: I mean, I think she takes her role as a mum as very serious, and wants to provide them with all her time/resources whereas some people take a more relaxed approach. Some people need to always be there for their children, and others are happy to leave them with their grandparents for a week every now and then because they have had enough. I just get this impression that she would be very involved and actually is quite a serious/dutiful/self-sacrificing person.

I think she looks like someone who has missed a proper +8 hour sleep in the last 10 years, therefor NV still looks so,so good.

There are recent pictures of her and Karlie, and - I beg to differ, comparison is dumb - but it's such a different world between an eternal beauty who has arrived in life and someone who is painfully boring and average mainstream expect her height.

Tiredness and being preoccupied would be my best guess. It can be a lot harder to focus your attention in one direction when you've had kids because usually at least half your brain is taken up by thinking about them even when you're not with them. Before she had the babies she could probably mentally get herself to a place where everything was focused on her facial expression and how she was holding herself, now that might be a lot harder.

Weird example, I can completely focus on a painting at night when my son is safely asleep in the next room to my studio because I know he's safe and it's ok for me to switch off from him a bit but when he's at school or with a relative I cannot concentrate nearly so well so I have to use the mornings for basic work, admin and stuff like that and save anything that requires genuine creativity for the evening.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I LOVE her. She was my first model crush and mad props to her for maintaining a skinny body even though she isn't a working model anymore (well except for appearances here and there.)

Her cheat day: "My daughter and I have half a pain au chocolat on a Saturday morning – it’s our ritual."
:luv:

http://nymag.com/thecut/2012/04/natalia-vodianova-its-better-to-be-skinny.html

On how images of thin models affect women: "Come on, guys, it's better to be skinny than to be fat! We eat well, we exercise — please, do the same and you will look like this. I'm sorry, but today the NHS [Britain’s National Health Service] are fighting against obesity, children are taken away from their parents because they’re too fat … And here we are, defending that we are healthy and skinny."

On her diet: "I respect my body — my body is my temple. If I eat like a pig, I feel like a pig."

On losing weight after childbirth: "I must say I actually came to [an event at] the V&A after giving birth to [my son] Victor, three days later, and I was wearing Givenchy Couture."

Her advice to women who want to lose weight: "I don't want to offend people who are trying to lose weight — if you want my tip, everyone should look into the only diet I've ever done. When I was little I had ulcers in my stomach from not eating very properly. I had really bad digestion and suffered from it for a long time. Then somebody recommended the blood type diet. Ever since, I have more energy and I've been doing it for five years now. It really works for me. It's not about eating more protein or more carbohydrates — it's which protein you eat, and which carbohydrates."

On exercise: "I run [a marathon] once a year; I don't train. It's true!"

Also more recently:
https://www.nytimes.com/2016/02/11/fashion/natalia-vodianova-beauty-routine.html?_r=0

"For diet, I do have rules. I follow the blood-type diet. I know a lot of people don’t believe in it. But I’ve had problems with my digestive system ever since I was a little girl. I had ulcers, and then in my 20s, I was having really deep problems. Then I tried this, and in two weeks I found a huge difference in how I felt."

Whatever you think about the blood type diet, admire her consistency. :inluv:

Also going to go check out what blood type O should eat :run:

Between the blood type diet (and ulcers spontaneously healing due to a diet.. essentially what she is implying) and this quote, I think she should shut her pretty little mouth and only open it for certain activities [:cumshot:]. Some people are more beautiful when they're silent (also applies to Snej :mclap:)

I revise my point, I saw this in my feed and just went back to look at her work and her wiki. It more seems like it was after her second child. She still was very sexy and expressive etc right up thru 2004 or '05 at least. Her second child was in 2006. Everything after that is like ... she is dead behind the eyes. :(
