Holy Grail Bags/I want a Chanel mini

I really want the Givenchy Antigona in black, but it's a bit too pricey :(

Omg me too. Not my holy grail bag, but definitely on my lust list :luv:

Not that I could afford any of these...

You must have an amazing bag collection. :luv:
Also, do you know why the bags from Harrods/etc are supposedly better quality than the ones from boutiques? I don't think I've ever picked up on that.

I actually don't have a good bag collection. They're too expensive send done times it makes no sense buying a cute bag when I need a big bag to fit my big fat books in. I think it's because harrods have more tourists coming in to spend more money on. Also because harrods has a reputation, so they need to maintain their image that the bag is of good quality and it won't damage too soon afterwards. I dunno. It's just my feeling from family members and stuff that brought bags, those from boutiques have needed repairing whereas mine from harrods have been fine plus mine are older. Also you get points if you have the harrods card. So worth purchasing from there. But who knows the quality might just be the same across all stores.

There's nothing more elegant than having a taste so refined that you resist trends and establish a style. Don't buy it (or at least for goodness' sake, not red for an heirloom piece).

Old ass post but... refined style or just picky as hell? I've only ever fallen in love with a few bags. Balenciaga City, Givenchy Nightingale, PS11, and my bf likes the Celine Boston which I'm impartial to (he thinks it looks like a happy face... men ). I'm in love with these bags because I saw someone wear it once and they were so damn beautiful.

I have a friend whose dream bag is a Hermes Kelly. Now I think of Chanel, Hermes, Burberry, LV, etc as bags to display your status quo, but to each your own. I would never carry LV, but my attachment to Balenciaga is probably just as ridiculous as the next girl's attachment to Chanel.

Tl;dr if you really love a bag, you won't give a damn what someone else thinks, if they think it's a fake, etc. I don't dress for others and I sure as hell won't buy a bag to please other people's taste. It's for MY eyes first and foremost. :p

I know its not a "Holy Grail Bag" but my collection or Jerome Dreyfuss bags is something timeless to me, the leather is beautiful and nond of them ever seem to go out of date, at least in my eyes.

A woman at the retail store I work in comes in EVERY. SINGLE. DAY with a new birkin bag, no joke, I've counted about 17 so far.....:wtf: and she has the croc ones.......

these are my babies

My Favourite bag has to be the MK Hamilton, because it so closely resembles the timeless classic shape of a Hermes bag, but it is a fraction of the price, it is genuine leather, and it will last me a long time. I used to buy cheap ass bags based on what they looked like but now I have grown to appreciate fine leather handbags. (I am sure there are some who consider a $200 range purse cheap) But realistically, $1000 on a bag? You can get an entire leather sofa for that much!!! Yes, I always dreamed of having a Chanel quilted handbag like everyone else apparently (maybe it was ingrained into me by the media). Now, my holy grail is a Michael Kors selma, another affordable bag, to me this bag is perfect and it is everything I need....

Update: I got the Antigona at Christmas and it is my favorite thing ever--it comfortably fits my laptop and still doesn't look bulky

These aren't holy grails, but they're definitely starters, I'm in love with marc by marc jacobs right now, mainly because this is my schoolbag (fits ipad, notebooks, books, and redbull zero when I need it to)

And then I have this for fun/days when I don't need a lot of books.

I'm saving my life for Balenciaga, Wang, and Mulberry, and my next 'affordable' bag will be the 3.1 Phillip Lim 31 Hour bag.

I am obsessing over this prada envelope clutch right now. I looked online and it's only available in white. I'd order it but I'm worried it'll stain so easily. Anyone have a white bag and manage to keep it looking new?

I love the MJ classic Q bags! I actually realllllly love this one, it's so nice! I just bought a black classic Q Natasha (mini) but I've really wanted a larger bag for a long time. I got the mini so I could use it for everyday and going out at night.

The classic Qs are amazing! I just love the feeling of the leather, I would honestly never buy a LV simply because I hate hate hate the coated canvas, it feels like such shit I can't stand it.

I agree! I have a thing for pebbled leather

It just feels so nice and soft doesn't it? I would never have anything else. My holy grail is definitely a Mulberry bayswater, in either grey, navy blue, or black! So soft and perfect.

Bump! I'm in for a big birthday gift this year and I love most of the bags you girls posted here. I'm in love w this one especially:

But I feel like I should opt for a more classic model. Any rec on a bag that is worth investing over and will still be 'in' in a few years?

If I were in you, I'd buy a classic bag, but in a fancy color (I mean, not completely black)
I can't afford many expensive pieces, so imo is better to invest in timeless pieces and go "extravagant"
These are (just a few. I have a thing with bags) the ones I personally like:

OR go with a trendy piece in black:

Okay, I might have just confused you, but that's what I do because my taste changes very quickly. So I wannabe sure to like how I spent my money also in a few years :)
