Ask a model anything

In all those outdated and controversial race classifications (not linguoid ones, where Aryan is synonymous with Indo-European), Aryan is the Nordic subrace of Caucasian. I know Slavic and Baltic people aren't Aryan, but their features go very well with the profile (blond, blue-eyed, light-skinned, narrow-nosed).
I thought using this particular term was important to emphasize the distinction between Eastern and Southeastern European models: I think Southeastern European (Balkans + Moldova, Cyprus, and of course Turkey) are much less popular - despite presumably being equally cheap - because their looks vary from Dinarid to Armenoid which is far less high fashion, apparently.

Now I made it boring, sorry. :D
Edit - I mis-read your post that I tagged.
Yes, we agree they are not Aryan by strict definition, but by inaccurate misuse as synonymous with Nordic.
:)

The Price Of A Model In Cannes

This model has been front and center in Cannes this week. She doesn’t have to ask anyone to take her photo. Everyone knows who she is.

However, she’s not there for a photo shoot. She’s not there to promote a film. She doesn’t really even act. So what’s she doing there? Fielding offers to spend the night with someone! Her asking price? $500k. She can make more in one night on a yacht than she can in a month or two of modeling!

No, it’s not Gisele Bundchen.

Some poeple say it's Miranda Kerr...

Sorry if this is a totally rude question...but I'm really curious as to what different tiers of model make salary wise? I know it depends on the season. What about like an AVERAGE season? Does one get paid her show? What is the pay like for different tiers of brands?

:drama:

the only other model who has been front and center is karlie, but miranda seems so much more probable.

This is an interesting thread indeed... think it's a good idea for models to be expressing the reality of our world

I see a lot of questions about models and what they eat, do, weight etc.
I know we must have lots of models with the inside goss you all crave so I was thinking we need a new thread of questions to ask models, bookers etc since the old thread is dead.
If anyones interested ask away and hopefully the VIP's will step up the the plate ;)

Great idea!! I know there's a thread about this, but I feel it went a bit off topic somehow. I've got a few questions brewing, but I'll stew on them a bit more before I ask ;).

How long does it take to shoot an editorial? I remember how it took hours of styling for just one or two shots as a kid, and people had to follow child labor laws. What about when you have 8-10 looks? What about location?

It varies depending on the set/location and complexity of hair/makeup. I go into it with the interest of getting finished as quickly as possible--it's not like you're getting paid. The sets are made before I ever get there. Lights are tested and configured while hair/makeup is going.
call: 8am
h/mu: 2h minimum
45 minutes for each look maybeeee, on average?

If there are multiple models the day is super boring because you sit around (usually in the cold) all day. Add more time for children or animals or super fussy stylists.

I had three looks in an editorial last week and it took an 8h day but yesterday I shot five looks and was out by 2pm. Granted, I don't fuck around with "lunches" or "breaks." Asian trained

Also, I don't think child labour laws apply to editorials because if they don't pay us, it's not "labour." Loop holes. Actual bookings function a little differently.

Sorry @Artemis this is probably a stupid question but why don't you get paid? Do models not get paid for certain work? Again, excuse my ignorance!

Yeah, things like runway show and editorials don't really pay (you may get a couple hundred but after fees it's effectively nothing). They serve to "promote" the model. A true supermodel might get something but 95% get next to nothing. They pay is more in the prestige.
