Underage models

Speaking as a booker, these girls are too young. But it's my job to discover talent before other people do, and the most promising ages for that are early to mid teens. After that, it becomes harder and harder (and therefore less promising) for many reasons.

I just googled her parents. It's crazy that Thylane is the result of them. Unreal beauty 'made by' two average looking people.

12 years old. she is insanely beautiful. still i think she is far too young.

I guess I will be the outcast & say I'm not really bothered by it. Yeah some of it is a bit too grown-up and I wouldn't let my girl do it but I don't really see the big deal... I don't think they are being sexualised (the person looking at the pictures might sexualise it.. that's another thing..) and nudity doesn't have to be sexual.

:highfive:

The one's who disturb me are the ones who sexualize the photos.

I mostly don't see the harm. I don't like that first picture with the stilettos and feel that it's wrong. I don't think the leopard print is wrong. I just don't like the over the top make up and the heels but the rest was ok for me. With the other pictures I don't see anything wrong. I think she's very pretty and I can see why she is modelling. It's everyone else in the media that are taking her career out of proportion, sexualising everything. She probably doesn't understand ithe full context, she's just probably just thinking I have to sit right and look cute, make mummy proud (whilst mummy is busy counting the $$$).
But, what Babydoll mentioned about modelling, about Kate Moss, I've also heard other models say 16 years old is the right age to start and not younger, so if more than one model is saying this then maybe there's a reason to listen to these advice. She's in a grown up industry and i would imagine there's a lot of pressure on her. But, what can I say, her parents might know best.

Not posting a full body shot, but she is no tall, skinny teenager. Not at all.

TBH, she may have the look but she's not got the expressive range to be outrageously successful as a model just yet. She'll have to work really hard if she wants to really excel in the industry without riding on her parent's coattails the whole way.

I'm very supportive of modelling post 18-20 which I know is unrealistic.
For me it's the actual image being represented.
When I see 16 year olds modelling wedding dresses it's a little off. I mean they would need their parents to consent! Have someone aged 28 in the dress and same with business suits and pearls etc (ie their respective ages).

I know it's idealistic and unrealistic but there's my view.

What's difficult for youngggg models is they will always be compared with their looks then/when their career explodes.
Gemma will never look 14 again and neither will anyone on the planet.
Except no one knows what you looked like at 14 but you and your friends then. Imagine if the whole world knew and comments how you had lost your looks by age 28? Very psychologically impactful. Especially if you are defined by your profession.
Beauty does not equal youth. I have seen many BEAUTIFUL women aged 40+. But it's because they cared for themselves. Which not everyone does.
And I don't mean they look younger than they are, I mean they look like a beautiful 45 year old.

No matter what anti ageing lifestyle you have you CANNOT halt nature. Retard it yes but not stop it. And even then it really will only take effect post 24 (well really 35).

Also what bothers people more about these models,
- their numerical age
OR
- that they LOOK their age?

Like if a 12 year old looked 16 would it be such a big deal to you? The only reason you know about these models' ages is because the media printed them. Imagine if you didn't know....

What the hell, is it me or her face looks totally off somehow? Has she done something to it!? I used to find her incredibly breathtaking and looking at this picture just makes me think she's past her prime already at freaking 14 yrs old :seeya:

You just proved my point above.
Hence why I believe in models starting later in life.
Not criticising you. Just evidencing my opinion.

It isn't going to happen. Most of the first world has an obsession with youth and the industry simply reflects that.
