Fashion No No

i don't hate that many things besides the obvious ones listed on here, but i must admit i really hate this "manicured ripped jeans" look lately--you know, the skinny jeans with perfect, frayless slits in them, supposedly resembling distress? Like, I'm a huge fan of distressed, comfy denim (bonus points if you've distressed them yourself--or stole them from an S.O. ;) ) as well as slick, skinny jeans, but the combination is revolting.

Completely agree. I don't mind distressed jeans, infact I quite like them, but they look so perfectly ripped that it's just off-putting and looks bizarre.

I think the whole "contrived" lifestyle has been huge since mid '00s, but I'm starting to see a lot of futuristic fashion lately. You look at the majority of women's major makeup trends and it's all intense and noticeable contouring, which is anything but natural. Anything "punk" these days is contrived, just like the jeans people buy that are just perfectly ripped that are hundreds and hundreds of dollars. And it still looks like shit. I think it's true when they say originality is being lost by the minute. Big fashion no no that I believe is having too many things going on at once, including makeup, statement shoes, and patterns on every inch of clothing. I think this has more to do with buying outfits solely for showing the brand off on social media, kind of like music festivals. And maybe it has to do with their body type? Or maybe that's just judgmental as hell haha?

I love fashion as much as everyone here, but you have to dress according to your age, height, body type, weight... I see too much people on the streets wearing fashionable things that look like sh*t on them.

I agree. The reason people get away with wearing outlandish clothes is almost fully due to their body. I think the majority of people here have way higher standards when it comes to clothes and bodies though, so the rest tend to ignore dressing for their body type. I don't see age as a main factor because I just don't see why age is so heavenly emphasized when it comes to relationships and appearance, if that makes sense haha.

Lanyards as key chains. Looks. Fucking. Stupid. Don't leave that shit hanging out of your purse or pocket.

In addition to that, your phone practically falling out of your pockets or seeing an heavy outline of a phone in your skinny jeans. You're asking to be pick pocketed.

Walking around with the phone in your hand and the purse on your arm- not exactly a question of fashion, but still questionable.

I know this was naughty, but I couldn't resist.... I guess I know I'm an SG addict because as soon as I saw this I immediately thought of this forum
It's just that this one outfit basically epitomizes what I consider to be a "no-no" and goes to show that just because you're not obese, does not mean you can pull off anything

Louis Vuitton, animal print sweater, baseball cap, those shorts. Wedged trainers. Good god. It hurts.

I really, really, really hate heels with jeans. I know it's very common, and I've come to realise that skinnies can pull it off (I even do it on occation myself, but only with block heels), but average people who wear heels with skinny jeans? They aren't fooling anybody...

Other than that, I really despise how the fat activist movement have ruined 50s and rockabilly style, because I actually quite like it. 50s dresses are wonderful. They manage to make it look awful though, and now people assosiate the style with annoying whiny fatties.

Lol you're spot on about rockabilly fatties. I love rockabilly music and will see as many bands as a I can bc it's so much fun to dance to, but I feel like wearing the rockabilly style is akin to the goth or emo thing- it's for people who couldn't shine in normal clothes so they had to choose a subculture whose dress they can adopt and will be more likely to stand out in. Does that make sense? I think I even go so far as to dress uber normal at rockabilly shows to distance myself from that desperate vibe and prove I don't need to have a theme to look good. Saying that, I do love the whole victory rolls and arm-tats-on-girls look when it's done well.

Yes, absolutely. Even my husband has noticed this. A family member was talking about someone they knew and said they dressed 'very 1950's' and he said out of nowhere 'they sound fat, are they fat?' Turned out they were indeed fat.

It makes total sense. When I was a student, punk/skater clothes had the same problem. It was terrible because a lot of those clothes only look good on skinny people. I worked at a club and we got so many overweight 19 year olds in with corsets, baggy jeans and bellies hanging out under them. Anyone skinny looked phenomenal though..

Listen, i feel you ladies, but absolutely none of these faux pas are as urgent as the Underbutt.

Agreed. I was in a shopping mall this weekend and the girl climbing the stairs in front of me had some serious underbutt going on in her short shorts. Just so beyond tacky

If you like the look of distressed and worn in clothes, wear them to that point. Don't buy it because it always obviously looks contrived.

Also, outfits that have colors that don't go well together.
