I found this absolutely fascinating and thought you all might enjoy it. A former "fat acceptance" activist who used to mod a popular tumblr (think This Is Thin Privilege) kind of snapped out of it, left the "movement," and answered questions on a reddit AMA. Her answers are really insightful to what's going on in the heads of so-called fat-activists.

Anyway, I thought it was interesting:

It's nice to see that it's possible for these "activists" to turn around and admit they've been in the wrong. I was banned on /r/BodyAcceptance because apparently pointing out that while it's possible to love your body at a certain weight, being 300+ pounds overweight does have inherent health implications . So it's refreshing to see someone from the other side admitting that the "fat acceptance"/thin privilege movement is bullshit.

Wow - So impressed.

That video with the two 'prominent Sjers' talking about Intuitive eating though...OMG....facepalm; so toxic, SO WRONG.

That is just so sad. How can they delude themselves like that?!

They said 'uhhh' and 'like' more than the times I've eaten this month.

It's like they have to think through the fat congesting their brains.

Sickening.

Fascinating read. The self-loathing/insecurity that she describes in the FA community contrasts starkly to the image of "yayyy for fat!" super-confidence that so may of them try to exude. Thanks for sharing!
