What are you girls excited about to buy this summer for wardrobe?

I’m not really a huge fan of summer clothes (I’m usually in just short shorts and a t-shirt) but all my shorts are falling off me and they look like jean skirts because the thighs openings are extra huge (and this is size 00, f*cking vanity sizing :supermad:).
I love cooler weather because I’m just so used to grabbing my skinny jeans, leather coat, ankle boots and being out the door looking chic and classic with little effort.

So I need some ideas of what to wear in the summer. I’m not a fan of short summer dresses (too little girl for me :nervous:). I did buy this dress in the dark purple which I’m totally excited to accessorize/wear.
And I was thinking of getting some skirts like these (since shorts are out of the question now, unless they’re spandex material but that’s definitely not always appropriate.. I was thinking kids department shorts maybe ) and wearing them with tight tops tucked in.

I’m in desperate need of ideas of what you girls are putting together for summer this year! And more specific what you are doing for casual run-around apparel. I feel so awkward now because I don’t know how to dress my extra small body
So please share what you’re all wearing for the hot weather!

Thanks

I love dresses in the summertime - very cool when it's extra hot, and can easily be dressed up/down. When I'm going casual, I like to wear them with flat sandals or espadrilles, and then a heeled pair of sandals can make the dress look nice for evening. I usually go for knee length, as I think maxi dresses overwhelm me. Plus, with a sundress, you can throw on a light blazer or fun jacket/sweater and instantly look put together.

I also like dresses, knee-length or slightly higher cotton dresses are good in the summer. I especially like dresses with interesting detail in the back. You can wear them casually or dress them up.

(This one is from Anthropologie)
I have a few pairs of shorts, but I have to be feeling brave to wear them...I feel so uncomfortable in shorts.

I like waist high maxi skirts with little crop tops but I need to either go kids size or hoist them up with a good belt (vanity sizing again).

Like you, I'm better at cooler weather dressing, I go into meltdown mode when it's hot.

The dress you have is lovely and the skirt you're looking at is quite nice too :luv: How about some high waisted pencil skirts with flats? Or a midi dress? You're tall and thin enough to rock a midi dress... Not too girly but can look very chic on the right (skinny :p ) body type. I picked one up in a kids/tween range and it's quite nice :)

This happened to me yesterday.. It was close to + 30C and I almost cried because nothing I tried from my closet was working for going out.

How about some high waisted pencil skirts with flats?

High waisted doesn't work for me because I have a VERY short waist so I need everything extra low rise, and plus I have tons of skirts like that that I wear for work. So I don't consider them "going out wear" lol. And I don't like going out with dressy skirts with flats.. it's a weird combo to me..

Thanks for the ideas :luv:

Thanks for the ideas so far girls!
Not a huge summer dress fan though. I think my only resort is to shop in the kids section for shorts.

I like camis and tanks because they always fit. For going out you could also wear something like a cami with a loose see-through shirt/sweater with holes in it. For shorts, maybe try kids? Usually it isn't noticable because denim is denim - as long as you don't get the ones with fake diamonds and flowers painted on, haha. Also if you have any old skinny jeans that you were thinking of getting rid of, maybe make shorts out of them?

Wow I never thought of this, this is a really good idea!! Thanks @Golden ice  I do have a few black faded skinny jeans that I could try this with. And I sew so I can just hem them myself.. :hmm:

You might be able to find something at Zara. They have some pretty nice shorts (the girls section). The 13 - 16 year-olds sizes actually fit quite nice. Also, you can check Cheap Monday, as their clothes tend to run in smaller sizes as well. Asos is another place to check. (their petite range might fit you). I hope you have luck in finding what you want, hun. :flower:

As far as I'm concerned, I tend to go for trousers! They look chic and casual with everything :)

Sweet I looked online and the 10-12 year old should fit my hips.
Thanks for this idea! :bow::kiss:
Hopefully I can go maybe this weekend and check them out

I used to buy H&M Kids clothes when I was your size. It worked even for me
and I'm 178cm! (shorts & dresses and jackets and skirts ... long pants no change of course) Besides that: what about jumpsuits? I think they look uber hot
on skinny people. Also, short, shoulder free ones make you look even skinnier combined with heels. Skinny and classy! Also, check out www.yesstyle.com it sells asian fashion. Asian size zero is actual size zero ;) They have nice clothes, most of them anything but expensive and good quality!

I love maxi skirts but I don't find any fitting me because of my short-torso-long-legs problem. :nopity: (Refusing flats/ ballerinas doesn't make it easier)

The ones I own make me looking fat, giving my high-waist a 'nice' fat area. The same with dresses.

I don't create much drama about summer clothes
so I only go for wider and long tops, cardigans
short skirts and pants
normal (skinny) jeans and pants.

So I went to Zara and I got a pair of shorts.
The kids 7-8 fit SO awesome in the bum/thighs, but I couldn't do up the waist :(
So I got the size 9-10, they're big in the bum/thighs but a lot better than anything I have currently :)

Also I went to American Apparel to look at those skirts.. wasn’t a fan.

Maxi dresses
Jean jackets
Jean vests
Colored denim (shorts and pants)
Light colored denim shirts
Maxi skirts
Summery, light colored scarves
Stripes
Subtle high waisted shorts (not super tight or completely up your ass)
The color mint/coral
Lace shorts

Hmm I'm quite girly so I usually do dresses. But I find shorts very tricky to buy since they end up looking like mum shorts on me. Have you tried hollister or Abercrombie kids? Another good kids sections are zara, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren. - but these are bigger so you might have to wear younger kids rather than big kids :p

Summer clothes for me
Vest dresses
Girly dresses - I've brought quite a few things from zara kids :p
Coloured denim - zara kids
Maxi dress - I only have one and its from the kids section

I find dresses easier to wear because if shorts or denim/tops are big it looks all wrong whereas a dress can be pinned/ or worn with a belt. Also I think it's acceptable if the dress is slightly loose.

I can't wait until it's *actually* summer and not just jeans-and-light-sweater weather. I cut off the sleeves and cropped a few of my old band t-shirts and can't wait to wear them with my hi-waist denim shorts. I know there's nothing classy about that, but once I find a job I will have to get out my Anthropologie again. Until then, no point wearing nice things that prevent me from spontaneous hiking/hooping/adventuring/sweating

I don't know if these come in sizes that don't fall off your body, but I like strapless tops/dresses.

It's a nice way to show some bones. ;) I can't wait for my arms and shoulders to be skinny again.
