Me again with shoe question. I know I know. I'm hopeless. You'd think I'm a shoe person, but really I'm not, I prefer bags. I'm just more confused about shoes and also because I have no one to ask. I've never worn these type in my life but I do like the look of these for casual looks. I probably won't get one just yet, but I want to be prepared. Ha!

Which ones do you have? What colour? Which brand? Which one do you think I should get?

Converse? or the other type, the ones that go higher, I think they're called high tops? not sure.

I'm not too sure about these, maybe too punkish for me.

Superga?

Vans?

Other?

I think Converse shoes are so ugly. They're just so unflattering and grungy looking. I like the Supergas and Vans. They're just simple and cute. Any shoe that's simple and cute usually works.

I love this post, it's so cute :p

I like these ones the best out off all you posted. I love girls who can rock these. The fashion blogger Jennifer Grace (Native Fox) always styles her converse so awesome! Although to me she isn't a thinspo anymore, I think she has gained some weight :nervous:. Anyways back on topic, if I wanted to get into that look I would choose these ones (not the high-tops though, I don't really like those personally).

Hmm now you got me thinking about them.. maybe I'll buy some.. or a knockoff version to begin with that looks the same in case I can't pull it off :p

Oh by the way these aren't the colours I want, I just randomly picked the pictures from google to show the brands. Not sure on the colours so need colour recommendations too.

I probably dumb but how? They all look the same to me.

p.s. I'm not leaning towards converse or anything it's just that they all look the same and if they're worn in an unflattering way then yes it can look grungy but so can vans and superga.

@classichic :hmm: I don't know there's just something about Converse that really put me off. I feel like the Vans and Supergas can look preppy and light if worn with the right outfit, while Converse just always give off that punk vibe that I don't like. Maybe it's the super long laces? I don't know.

These Vans make this outfit really preppy and chic:

I like the way Alexa wears these Supergas:

And this:

The Converse really ruin the outfit though:

I think I like the Vans a bit more than the Supergas. Depends on the outfit though.

Ahh I see what you mean. The pictures help, thank you.

Get the Supergas! I have them in navy blue and I just find them a bit more unique (maybe not where you are but where I live very few people wear them) and stylish, considering the fact that Chucks are everywhere. I get more compliments on those than I do when I wear my other sneakers.

I really do like my Chucks, though (I have both white and denim-blue low tops), as long as you don't get them disgustingly gross and grungy, I think they are a nice casual shoe, and pretty inexpensive too. You can tuck in the laces so they look less juvenile as well. I am not as big a fan of the high-tops.

Also, maybe take into consideration the width of your feet too. I have very narrow but big feet (I wear a 9.5-10), and in my opinion, the Chucks work better for a narrow foot. I have to use insoles in my Supergas to make them fit better, because they are a bit too wide. Maybe my feet are weird though  I recommend that you try them all on in store and see which fit your feet best.

Sorry I can't provide an opinion on the Vans, as I don't own a pair, but I have friends that do and the ones in basic colours (black, white) can look really cute.

Also, if you are just starting out with sneakers, get a very basic colour so it can go with more clothing. Perhaps I am biased in that my wardrobe is entirely comprised of neutrals, but I really don't like sneakers in very bright colours (anything neon, for example). Red can be okay if you want to make a statement, but I stick to brighter colours for things like flats and sandals.

I like converse sneakers best. I have Vans and converses and I don't wear my vans anymore, except for while dancing, because I don't like them... the shape is just a bit off to me, now.
Supergas... I don't know, it really depends on the colour but in most cases I don't like them.

The pictures of converses you were shown were only of high tops. I don't like high tops either, haha, but the low ones are great IMO.

This doesn't quite represent my sense of style but I guess she makes them look great, though I'm not fond of the outfits.

I get what you mean, all three brands of sneakers are quite similar, if you think about it. BUT, I think the subtle differences in design can really change the level of wearability and feel of the sneakers. Converse make your feet look a bit banana shaped, haha, so I think Vans and Superga look a bit cuter and even a bit dainty (but I wear size 36 so all my shoes seem dainty ).

I like superga sneakers. I think they're the cutest option out of the three.

I also like completely black low-top Converse, even though it's quite common and cliche, because of how versatile the shoes are. Personally I don't own a pair, but some of my friends do, and it looks cute with a laid back outfit on a skinny/slim girl, like with skinny jeans or shorts. Anyway, I'm on the fence about Converse; some are cute but seeing the black/navy/red and white one in bigger sizes just looks weird, because of the long/bananaish shape of the shoe. I think Converse look better if you don't have big feet, maybe. Also, I think Converse high-tops can only be pulled off by a skinny girl or slim girl in skinny jeans. I hate seeing "average" girls' legs in Converse high-tops and shorts. :superpuke: Overall, for Converse and Vans, I've seen both cute and ugly pairs, depending on the overall outfit, apperance of the wearer and of course the colour of the shoes.

I agree, bigger size look weird and I get the babanaish reference. I'm still undecided. I think converse can look punkish for my taste but that's only because so many girls have it and they would wear it in a way that doesn't. But, I've also seen loads of girls wear converse nicely. With Superga I've got no idea because I haven't really seen anyone wear these, I only think of Alexa Chung with them. I wish a bunch of girls would wear their Supaga's in front of me and parade it round just so I can make my decision. I think these type of shoes scare me the most.

Thanks to all that gave their input

You could always travel to Italy  I heard that a lot of girls wear it there. Meanwhile, here's some street style pics. I think it looks cute with skinny jeans and, on skinny legs, casual skirts/shorts.

Oop thanks for sharing, those pics are cute. I'm leaning towards superga now.

Those completely changed my minds about supergas haha!

@classichic did you end up buying a pair? I bought some Supergas the other day and I must say, I'm really in love with them.

I'm like a total anti-sneakers person :run:

I prefer sandals or boots and sometimes flats (with the right outfit and the PERFECT pair of flats)

Sorry I couldn't help :(

But honestly, it really depends on YOUR style and what YOU like. With the right attitude and overall outfit, you can pull off anything

No. I haven't yet. I think I'll buy them maybe after my exams. Been too nervous to shop lately. Which ones did you get?
