Wedding Dresses (for those of us who care about them)

That's absolutely brilliant! I had really wanted to just elope, but my husband wanted the whole big wedding thing, so we compromised and I made him do 80% of the planning, haha. Most of our budget was getting a favorite restaurant to cater. The rest was super cheap.

Ah but my dear, money was worth so much more in those days, back when I was a young thing, just a wee slip of a girl, and thruppence ha'penny was a week's wages...

And yes, I approve of your making Mr Salander do the work. I bet he didn't have to sew anything. So there.

I'm of that decrepit issue too. Once I admitted to my classmates that the internet didn't exist when I was a child and that I could remember when people didn't have computers, and they laughed and spoke together in their new young person's language that I couldn't understand.

Ha ha - yes I remember when you had to call a travel agent when you wanted to fly somewhere!

My wedding in 2000 was planned by a wedding planner who did all of the leg work. Back then there were not many websites. It must be so much easier to plan one now!

Ok girls, I need your expert opinions- I have been looking at dresses and found this one and I simply must know what you all think! This is really the dress I'm dying to be skinny for...

pronovias, right?

i love pronovias, they make gorgeous gowns!!!

concerning your dress:
a little too much lace for my taste, but very good cut and elegant!

this dress is one of my favourites by pronovias dreams collection:
(except the bolero)

Yes exactly! I do love the lace look but that's because I like something that has a beautiful, timeless feel. But I do know you can achieve that without the lace as well.

how do you like my dress?
I think it's gorgeous and for me there is something about the bolero that I do like...but it is elegant and I would say princess like without being too over the top (if you can understand my meaning) no, it's beautiful! :luv:

ja, i am simply not sure about the bolero... i like it and i don't like it. it's weird ;). for church it's great.

Pronovias

Yours is gorgeous... I love the texture, and that train! (what's the name of it?) I might skip the bolero... they are expensive to tailor (as are all things lacey and beautiful) and they look terrible baggy.

I just got a Pronovias, too! Beret. Apparently it's been discontinued, so I got to walk away with the in-store copy for a pretty good discount...

Unfortunately it's a size 10 so there are going to be some serious alterations. What do you all think of this?

Am I the only one that's gone into a little spelling-police-rage because it says "use" instead of "us" in the title of the thread? Love this thread though, makes me go all dreamy for my future wedding! :p

It's super-detailed. I tried a few Lazaro dresses (my ceremony veil was a Lazaro cathedral) and they're all such lovely quality. I think you look gorgeous in the dress. Just remember tailoring when you lose weight, especially if you're like me where stress=not eating=weight loss. Last minute alterations suck.
