Supersize VS superskinny

Just watched part of an episode for the first time ever.

Once it hit around the 10 minute mark- I decided to skip my breakfast. I'm absolutely disgusted. I wish the US had these kinds of TV shows. Very rarely do you see stuff talking about obesity on the tv- maybe on talk shows but never so realistic.

That woman... over 50 stone... standing up... :run: I thought i was going to be eaten through my computer.

Hot damn! Lol I'm barely watching, but thanks for posting this up. Seeing these obese people gross me out, but I like to compare different body sizes.

God how much do you think they paid some of these people to come out? I'm chubby, nowhere near the obese woman, but there's NO way I would participate in something like this lol

I do sometimes get sucked into this show for thinspo, but am I the only one who finds the preachy tone annoying as hell??
Yes, to be fair, many of the skinnies have poor diets (living off of soda, etc), but the show so often relies on useless measurments like calorie total and BMI.
They always try to make the skinnies' calorie count as shocking as possible, when much of the time it isnt even that low, the problem is simply that they're getting inadequate nutirition for those calories.
I get so sick of hearing them say things like "So-and-so is BARELY scraping by on a meager 1700 calories a day!" Or "Oh my GOD! So-and-so is surviving on a measly 1500calories!"
Give me a fucking break!!

Lol, yeah. When I watched that show, I saw the episode with the woman that ''ONLY'' eats 1700 calories a day. ''That's a calorie deficit of 300 a day! If she will continue like this, SHE IS GONNA DIEEEE.'' :wtf:
Her problem was that she only ate pizza and fatty crap, but she couldn't get all of it down her throat. Those people are idiots. 1700 is a perfectly healthy calorie intake, and you could easily live on less. You don't have to stuff your face to be healthy.

BTW, I once saw an episode where they made this skinny guy eat like 3500 calories per day to gain weight. How is that healthy?

This makes me laugh so much. A woman at 5'3" needs 2000 do they? Oh, right, cool, thanks for letting me know... Hey, Western world, how's that obesity crisis working out? ooft. :nervous:

You're right Keroppi, they need to put this show on American TV!
I used to be a fatty and it helped me change ^^; and I say it all the time, but it helped me see how some girls are sooo tiny while drinking energy drinks and eating skittles..

Definitely the show is over-exaggerating, but they kind of have to make certain things seem terrifying and others not so bad.. otherwise people would feel their situations are hopeless and keep on going until they kill themselves.. :(

Haha, sometimes this show does make me laugh.

The lady will be like, "I want to look like a woman!!" But then she eats a slice of processed cheese for lunch and wonders why she's 90 lbs.....

I.Am.Addicted!!

I watched the whole season in the last three days :)
But it does kind of annoy me that they just make the skinnies eat more, when clearly the real problem is that they make poor food choices and don't get enough nutrition!

Well... to be honest, I am a fan of fit guys, not super skinny guys, and the body of the bartender guy who just drank juice for dinner really grossed me out :superpuke:

But I am so jealous of tinie tiny Tatiana (was that her name) my god she was a waif!

I absolutely love this show. It's great thinspo...when they pour all the food in that tube to show how much they eat...blech!!!

I also love this show, watched most of the seasons. It's nice when the "supersizers" lose weight after they take part, I hope they keep at it.

Does anyone else notice though that the skinnies often barely gain after they come for their weight in? Usually they just seem to have lots of makeup in a "healthy glowing" way

Does anyone know if they are doing another season this year? I've watched all the seasons (5, I believe).

Or did I miss something? I live in the States so I watch it online.

I've watched this program since it started about 6 years ago. From series one I have always watched it watching what the skinnies eat and seeing if I can get any tips from it. I have always been completely confued by their reports of how they eat 1,400 calories a day, most of it from fat and how they are so underweight? I don't get it!!! But now i'm not the only one who has noticed it I don't feel such a klutz!

I love this show. But I never think the skinnies look bad unless it's the guys. I would love to have most of the girls' bodies.

But I do agree the way they do it is ridiculous. Most of them eat a normal amount like 1,500 or 1,700 and they make it seem like so little. And on the most recent episode I watched the girl had a BMI of 17.3. That's like me. So you can imagine how un-skinny she looked...

On season 5. Just watched the episode with the medical student who was morbidly obese :wtf: She talked about having to lose weight or else patients would not take her seriously if she told them to lose weight, and it reminds me of my school nurse who I cannot take seriously at all because she is also morbidly obese.

I refuse to take advice from fat doctors. It;s like having a morbidly obese personal trainer. How can I expect good advice on my health from someone who does not take care of their own.
