Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2012

Did you guys see the backlash about the Native American outfit? They're cutting it from the broadcast because so many people were offended by it, and both Karlie and VS apologized on Twitter.

... on the bright side, looks like the criteria to become an angel has widened a bit. Even average looking girls have a shot.

Haha hilarious!
This along with vanity sizing, every girl out there is going to think she can be a model!

ok...well, I'm sure they could have seen this coming, why even bother putting it in in the first place

oh god spare me:wtf:

That's ridiculous, that was one of my favourite outfits. People need to calm the hell down. I wasn't offended by it, and I'm native as well, if that means anything.

Ugh, doesn't surprise me one bit. It always astounds me, isn't there like an entire team of people who have to come up with the idea, and greenlight them? How does not a single person go "uhh...wait guys, this might not sit well with some people". Going back to the whole No Doubt video fiasco a few weeks ago which was pretty much the same thing.

Agreed. This is so stupid. How can you be offended by that outfit? There was nothing possibly offensive about it...our society has become so sensitive.

Nowadays, people get offended about anything race/culture/history related.
That is ridiculous and it's getting worse.

We are not offended about stupidity or obscenity though.

But why ? I mean you can even say that they included something native american as a recognition and tribute, its not as if they were making fun of anything. I just don't get it, maybe I'm missing something...

Right?! Everyone has to be so careful about stepping on other people's toes these days. Recently Urban Outfitters had to recall a Navajo line for the same reason, I think it's mostly some fundamental Native American group protesting things like this. But yeah you'd think VS would have known better and just avoided putting it in there even if they didn't think it was a big deal they should have known people would get all offended. I almost feel like they did it just to make the show stir up some trouble since VS is rapidly sliding down the slippery slope of irrelevancy.

The people who work at VS aren't stupid. I doubt it was a coincidence that the outfit that would stir up controversy went to a white girl with 3 outfits, as opposed to a darker girl with 1 outfit or an angel. Plus, something similar to this already happened to VS when they had to remove its "Go East" collection, which featured Asian-inspired lingerie. They probably thought "any publicity is good publicity". ;)

Apparently Bieber split with Cookie Cutter Gomez and started to hit on Thunder Thighs Barbara after the show :wtf:
They're not together (and hopefully will never be, Barbs can do better), but still...
Well, Barbara is obviously much prettier than Selena (if she could just stop eating and start trimming those thighs...)
Um, Hungarian Cara Delevingne much?

I thought Barbs had a bf? But Selena started attacking her (jealous non-model bitch)

Seriously if teen pop star-top model couples become a thing now I'm gonna puke for all the jealous 12-year-olds proudly claiming they know a lot about models just because they know the name of the one their favorite singer is dating.

@diamondsjoyandcharm barbara said on her twitter that she only took a pic with justin and that all the rumours were not true at all. she also said that she was still with her boyfriend.
i honestly can't imagine her and bieber and i feel sorry for her because of all the trouble she's facing. type #teamselena on twitter and you'll find a shitload of comments by angry 13 year old 'beliebers'.

Why feel bad for her? This controversy is making her somewhat relevant. She's had a huge increase in twitter followers and she's making herself known by the general public. If anything, she should be grateful.

if i was in her position, i would seriously be devasted. i wouldn't care for the fact that all the haters are little girls with pimples on their foreheads who have a crush on justin. for me it would be brutal to have a public shitstorm against me, no matter how ridiculous it may be. and she seems to be a girl who lacks self-confidence sometimes, which makes it even worse.

I agree that perhaps society is getting a little sensitive but there are reasons why people are offended by the use of the headdress. Headdresses are not worn by women in native culture, they are worn by warriors and cheifs. Native culture carries a deep respect for traditions as well as traditional dress. It is offensive for something that is respected and honored to be used as a "costume" or for entertainment value.

And i did like the outfit- i just understand why it could be seen as disrespectful.

Seconded...

How many times have people been sued or gotten backlash for dressing like Native Americans? (Hint: its a lot) Instead of risking it they should have just gone in a different direction so Karlie wouldn't be cut from the show.

As soon as I saw the outfit I knew it was going to be a problem.

ok that starts to make sense, I did not know that. Still, I think they are way too sensitive about it, and of course VS people should have seen this coming (cof cof) they probably did, as someone here said, any kind of publicity is good publicity.

100% agreed! It's going to be super obvious when they air that a chunk of the segment is missing?

exactly. While I don't fully agree the uproar is warranted, I saw it coming the minute I saw the photos. I didn't get why on earth they wouldn't just stay away from things they know will cause controversy but smack face....publicity!

Frida at the show= Perfection
