*I apologize if this is the wrong thread to post this in!

This whole thing is some psychology ish haha.

I met with my agent and basically she reprogrammed my mind. She was telling me why she thinks i cant lose weight.
-I have begun to think of it as a chore because i am TOLD to lose weight
-Because i am told to lose weight, i have forgotten that i'm the one who wants this, not just the people around me, so i shouldnt rebel against what im told.
-I hate running because im told to do it, but i should love it because every step is a step closer to my dream

idk i suppose im talking out loud. I just thought it was interesting because subconciously i had begun to not want my dream as much just because i was being told what to do. I just needed that push to remind me, what the hell, IM the one who wanted this in the first place, why am i complaining?

You know the human psychology is so complex haha I have the same feeling sometimes working on my graduation project, because I see it as something I HAVE to do to finish collage, like a chore and also because Im a perfectionist. so I proscastinate the most. (people who are perfectionist usually are procastinators to the core lol).
Maybe is also a fear of finishing a chapter in my life and starting an adult/job life. .

And its true when someone says you have to do certain thing even if its a nice advice you subconciously o conciosly want to rebel.

I think you have to see it as something for yourself your own goal, your own happiness...change the resason why you are doinig it. Not beacuse they told you to lose weight but because you'll feel better and is for something that you want. Your own happiness, health and goals. Your future and possibilities as a model. If you have the chance to be in an agancy and model, go for it, motivate yourself!!

:)

I don't know the whole story, but it sounds like you're not taking it seriously and being a bit of a brat. If you want to be a serious fashion model, you better get used to being told what to do!

And if your agent has this kind of patience with you, be thankful. If you were on my board, and I had told you to lose weight, and you were gaining... I'd give you a warning or two.. but I wouldn't bother with the psychobabble.. I'd just drop you.

Maybe that's not what you want to hear, and it's not very supportive - but it's true and maybe it's what you need to hear. I don't know what market you're in, but NY, Paris, Tokyo, Milan won't coddle you.

This.

It might sound a bit harsh but i think that's exactly what you need to hear. Stop overthinking everything you do and start working for your dream. You are not going to get anywhere by feeling sorry for yourself.

I get what your saying- and im like that with nearly everything else, eg, schoolwork or stuff, if my mum keeps nagging me to do stuff- well, the more she asks me, the less i want to do it! haha. im terrible with reverse psychology though.
but NOT with losing weight. if you cant take that seriously you are not going to get far. you cant go to a casting and be like oh sorryyyy, i was meant to lose 10lbs but i havent! they wont take to that kindly atall. if you seriously want this, then youve gotta do it, there are thousands of girls who would take your job in a second.

This. It's your JOB to maintain a certain set of measurements, correct? Well, how would that be in any other job? "Sorry, I didn't do the project because you told me to ..."

Reverse psychology and pseudo-rebellion can only be "excused" to a certain degree.

Eventually it has to kick in that this is your career. It's your job to fit the sample size. If you don't, there are countless others who already do or are willing to without needing to get a pep talk from their booker (who sounds like they have the patience of a saint).

If you don't have the temperament, maybe this isn't the industry for you. If it is, get on it; be disciplined and self-aware.

Oh no I don't want you guys to think I'm a brat :( I know I'm being terrible but it is my dream so I finally pulled my head out of my ass. Haha my agent is a saint, maybe that is why it's easier not to listen to her...if she were like you guys, I would have been scared into losing weight lol.
Alright I feel like enough of a loser now, the proffessor example is perfect hah. Mkay off I go to the gym, I'll prove you guys wrong.
Thanks!! :)

"I hate running"

I used to absolutly hate running too. Then someone said to me 'running is like sex. At first it hurts, but then you get the hang of it and it feels amazing' LOL so I keep running. I don't enjoy it (yet) but its not as hard as it used to be.

Understatement of the year! :highfive:

As always, ExtraShot, you are 10000% correct. This point is something I left out of my original post, and it's worth reinforcing. Why would I bother psychoanalyzing and coaching someone who obviously isn't willing to do the work required when there are literally thousands of girls who will, right behind her, trying to knock the door down? Sorry, I don't have the damn time. Not to mention I'm an icy bitch and very very busy. Do your job, or someone else will. I have heard thousands of sob stories...  I won't bore you with them, but I've gotten so numb to them because in almost ten years of doing this I think I've heard them all.

Agytha, you rock! Perfectly said. :highfive:

I really don't think you need the gym, but that's a bit off-topic. Based on your other posts, I think you are eating too much.

"I hate running"

I used to absolutly hate running too. Then someone said to me 'running is like sex. At first it hurts, but then you get the hang of it and it feels amazing'

Sometimes it hurts and feels amazing. :sneaky:

I'm not a model but I'd like to add my thoughts.
Whenever I focus on losing weight I feel deprived. I don't listen to my body anymore and I feel upset about my eating and exercise. I used to love to run some time ago when I was using it to clear my thoughts, feel happy, start my day, and prove myself that I can. Now, as I use it to lose weight, it has become a pain...
I love having salads for dinner but when I focus on having salad instead of something else because salad has less calories I feel deprived and still hungry.
Idk if that's helpful.

If you want this so bad you would get your ass in gear and do it. Like others have said, millions of girls would die to have a career in modeling. A lack of commitment is obvious to see and if your agent sees that... you're dropped.

You saying "I hate running" is a terrible excuse and is the same as an over weight person saying "I hate healthy food".

In the end if you are even thinking its not for you, then it isn't. Step aside and do something else.

Out of interest what are your measurements and daily diet/exercise regime consist of?

That line is amazing, and so true!
