Freja Beha Erichsen - Thinspo & Model Profile

As promised, here is the model profile of Freja Beha Erichsen.  Freja started modeling in 2005 and since then she has been going strong.  Freja is currently with IMG Models.  She has walked countless fashion shows and has done numerous editorials.  She has also appeared in many advertising campaigns for Chanel, Gucci, H&M, Balenciaga, Chloé and many others. Freja has also had a number of designer products named after her.

Freja has 16 tattoos, even more than Abbey Lee Kershaw.  Rumor has it that Freja made a deal with her agent that she could have as many tattoos as she wanted as long as she didn’t cut her hair.  However, she did cut her hair back in 2007, after she made it big in the fashion industry.  Freja is currently ranked #3 on the Top 50  Women Models by models.com.  I’ve read that she is a muse for Karl Lagerfeld and I’ve seen pictures of them together and they seem very fond of each other.

I think that Freja is a pretty girl and very skinny.  She isn’t one of my favorites though and I’m not exactly sure why; I think it’s because I never paid that much attention to her.  I don’t particularly care for her short hair, I think it makes her look boyish.  And while I love a small boyish frame on a model, I prefer the face and hair to be overly feminine…. just my preference though.  I couldn’t believe how many tattoos she has, but I’m glad we can’t see most of them.  I prefer pure beauty without any modifications such as tattoos or piercings, but that is just what I like… we all like different things and are entitled to our own opinion : )

What do you think of Freja?

P.S.  The next model profile will be Snejana.

    Long skinny legs! =)
I think she has quite a pretty face, judging on the first few pics. I’m on my phone right now and reception is shocking (I’m on a bus) so i’ll have to look at the other pictures later. I agree about the tattoos Skinny Gurl, while some suit some people i can’t stand the way they cover and hide people (or the way you can’t wash them off or anything – they will always be there). But, we can’t see Freja’s so i don’t mind =)
I don’t mind her. Not my favourite but definitely up there =)

  2. Arabella says:

Her face reminds me a little of Rachel McAdams in some photos.
I think her body is good, but her face doesn’t quite cut it for me.
Also her eyebrows. Wow. I’m English and we see a lot of untamed facial hair but they are odd.

  3. qwerty says:

Love Freja, I’m a sucker for the boyish look (and the boyish frame). She’s the queen of that at the moment, and she’s sexy too. Great figure and proportions too. Perfect!

  4. Anya says:

    picture #14 is phenomenal

  5. tay says:

I think she looks best when she has long hair and looks like a girl!

  6. Pippi says:

@ Arabella – you’re so right! I was browsing the pictures and getting frustrated trying to think of who she reminded me of, when I read your comment. Does anyone else think that both she and Rachel McAdams always seem to have a determined expression on their faces? Maybe they’re just focused on living the skinny lifestyle ;) .

@ Skinny Gurl and Cass – I agree with you guys about the tattoos. Fashions in tattoos and body piercings change as much as clothing, and every avant garde trend setter who got a celtic knot design in the late eighties is now automatically lumped in with a load of cliched white trash *for the rest of their lives*. When I look at a body I want to see beauty, not a reminder of a poor decision, or some lame fashion trend which fizzled out long ago. You may as well put a best before label on your body (for example, girls with butterflies and dolphin ankle tattoos were young in the 90s, girls with tramp stamps and stars were young in the noughties e.t.c).

Sorry to rant so, but my philosophy is; if you put so much effort into treating your body like a temple, why would you graffitti the walls?

  7. Prettyskeleton says:

I love Freja and I love her even more for having 16 tattoos. I have 5 ,but just like freja, I can hide them or show them if i please. Tattoos are fine to me as long as you dont have some stupid lame stuff like stars, little hearts, cherries..ugh that’s very tacky to me. but yeah im a huge fan of Freja. LOVE HER.

  8. Gabriella says:

Awww…I’m disappointed a little. Beautiful girl but I read someone she sort of looked like Gia Carangi. These pics show otherwise. Gia was and is my favorite supermodel of all time. Still haven’t seen anyone that looks like her in the modeling world-yet.

  9. Gabriella says:

    somewhere*

  10. Marijam says:

I love her! She is herself and takes that with her in fashion, this is why she made it. And of course her apparent beauty…

  11. Justine says:

I love Freja, I love her boyish look. And I think her tattoos are great – they’re not too big and as prettyskeleton said, not too tacky. And I think they add to her tomboy look, which I absolutely adore.
Oh and I just love how skinny she is!

  12. Zoe says:

Huh finally a Freja post… tnx Skinny Gurl! Freja is my absolute favorite… her face is out of this world (look at that bone structure!) and I adore her super skinny frame. Besides that, she’s the coolest girl around and so down to earth despite the huge success. No doubt she’ll stay one of the biggest fashion stars for the next few years.

  13. Victoria N says:

haha my fav tattoo of hers is “this too shall pass..”

  14. Gabby says:

ohhh i just wish i was as tall as her… how can i get skinny like a model!! its impossible

  15. cass says:

@Arabella – I agree on the Rachel McAdams call!
@Prettyskeleton – I’m happy if the tattoos some sort of relevance, but like you said, if it’s just ‘clip-art’ stuff, it just shows your immaturity, I would say. I like words, if they having meaning.
@Pippi, agreed about the best-before label on bodies. I particularly liked your last line in your argument =)
    @Gabby, nothing’s impossible!

  16. Gabby says:

@cass- I know but now that ive lost 5 kg I’m not loosing anymore which sux, Ive started to drink a lot of water and do more ecercise, but now do u think i should start changing my eating habits? eg: instead of having normal breakfast, apple, big salad, snack, salad or soup. I should have big breakfast, no break, salad, soup??
Any tips?? how long is it going to take me to loose 4 kg? I want to be 44 or so

  17. cass says:

@Gabby, oh plateauing sucks (but it feels good to know you’ve got those 5kg behind you I bet! =) )
That’s a good idea about the water and exercise. I’m not quite sure – google plateauing – but I don’t think cutting down right now is a good idea. I think more it’s just about changing up the amount of calories you have each day for about a week or so – like, for example if you normally ate 500, you would go 800, 400, 700, 100, 600, 300, 1000, sort of thing. This tricks your body and speeds up your metabolism. Then weightloss should happen again. Eventually, you might have to cut back on how much you eat if you get to a point where you literally cannot lose anymore regardless of what you try and you still want to lose weight.
I have no idea how long it’ll take you to lose 4 kilos, the weight loss will probably be a lot slower now, than the initial part. But if you stick with it, you CAN get there =) Good luck with it all and let us all know how you go! XX

  18. DianaDenmark says:

She makes me proud to me a Dane. I love her.

  19. Gabby says:

@cass- thank you soso muchh!! I hope i loose it :)

  20. cass says:

@Gabby, no worries, good luck! =)

  21. Becks says:

she is so edgy and sexy at the same time and her body is ridiculous! I love freja, I have a picture of her on my desktop for inspiration.

  22. sara says:

yah go danish women . im danish too :)

  23. Mark says:

She is so sexy. I love her narrow body and pretty face, so hot!

  24. Abbey says:

she has gotten really skinny lately! i just saw her in a valentino spring/summer 2010 fashion show and her legs are SO SKINNY!!! In case anyone wants to see, its on youtube, and she is the model at 1:55… her legs are the best I’ve ever seen

  25. Abbey says:

And i think one of her skinny secrets is gum… in every interview and backstage footage I’ve seen of her, she is chewing gum. coincidence? i think not.

  26. AnnikaSchönebeck says:

    Hey all..
I just wanna know, how do you know, that she her weight is 50 kilos? :-)

  27. Alexandra says:

in my opinion her face looks rebel, and i like her body!she is good for a top model!

  28. imogene k says:

she has the best body in picture 14, her legs are the thinnest and she has lanky arms :)
she suits the fringe down best, just
makes her cheekbones look more defined.
ok now bad news..she has barely a presence on the runway. its a shame, she could really stand out, she could’ve been the next Snejana Onopka.
she needs to sway her hips more and pick up her arms if you get what i mean. more attitude on the runway, make the footsteps sharp and keep her expression exactly as it is. a little something extra and she’ll get there.

    but the tattoo…
yeah its fashionable, but isnt the best idea for a catwalk model
photographic work – that’d be fine, but i’m sure that has to be part of the reason she hasn’t quite made the star list.

beautiful, and such a successful model already though . :)
well done on keeping your weight pretty much the same too, Freja.
you’ll notice most models have ‘upsy-downy weights”, but seems she has what she likes set :) she definitely proud!

    stay strong girls
    have fun!
    x
her strides look quite short and even though thats obviously her, she needs to learn to
