Miss USA Contestants Pretend to Gorge Themselves

Posted by Skinny Gurl

A few weeks ago, the 2010 Miss USA contestants dined (or pretended to) at Buca Di Beppo in Las Vegas.  I thought these pictures were funny because the majority of them are obviously exaggerating how much food they are eating.  Most of us, especially readers of this site, are fully aware these girls do not maintain those bodies and eat like that.  The majority of society seem to be in denial – making excuses for the way they eat and pretending you can look this good and eat like that on a regular basis.  I love hearing their rationale – “Oh, they are naturally thin”, “I’m sure she eats all the time”, or “She just has a fast metabolism”.  LOL. Yea, right!

We skinny gurls all know that is not true 99% of the time, and those girls are either starving themselves the rest of the week and/or throwing it up minutes after eating it.  What really gets me is that they feel the need to “ham it up” and exaggerate how much they are eating for the cameras.  I know that the restaurant probably paid good money to have them at this photo opp, so there was probably some pressure to do that, but why hide the fact that you only eat salad for dinner?  Where is the shame in that?  Personally, I would be proud that I have the self discipline and control not to stuff my face like most Americans.

Anyway, enough of my rant.  I thought you all would get a few laughs from these pictures and maybe have some rants of your own on the subject.   : )

Ughh..they probably did eat all the food on their plate. Beauty paegent girls are the most notorious crash dieters! I go to college with one and she will go on the weirdest, freakiest food programs ever.

Like one time she had an event in a couple of weeks, so she would buy poptarts and only eat the frosting off of them. It was strange.

  2. Minnie says:

They’re not event skinny so it’s not hard to believe that they ate that food.

    • frejasbabe says:

agreed, they arent that thin. not like models. and if they hadnt eaten anything else that day im sure they wouldnt mind (girls who diet to get the ‘sexy thin’ look as a pose to the ‘anorexic model’ look tend to not have such extreme tendencies and steadfast rules with food.

  3. Anne says:

@ Victoria N, sound like what I do sadly. I’m on a load of medication for medical problems that makes it hard to loose weight. I try everything I can think of to get trimmer. Doesn’t seem to go too far. I come here everyday just to remind myself that being thin is a lifestyle change and not a crash diet. It’s about staying mindful of what I eat everyday and taking it slow and it’s not a race to the finish line but about endurance.

  4. Salsa says:

Wow, they look ridiculous. Obvious photo-op and clearly NOT how they usually eat.

  5. Kidd says:

They look kind of… goofy. It’s not what they’re eating (frankly, I don’t give a shit), but they way in which they’re eating it. Man. Not a natural pose in the punch.

  6. Mandylinda says:

Well, I’m gonna go with Skinny Gurl’s opinion, I’m sure too that they don’t eat like that even if they’re not really skinny. And it’s really the problem of our society, why can’t they just tell what they’re really eating… then they make these photos about stuffing themselves…it’s not right, it’s a shame, hypocrites…

  7. Diana says:

I think they look like cheap pornstars.

  8. gigi says:

wow i’d say it looks rather gross

    • Georgia says:

They dooo look like pornstars! Beauty pagent ladies always look so very fake and all the same. I’d like to see some very different and stunning looks like you see on the catwalk. Boring!!

  9. want2bnvied says:

hahaha look at the 2nd picture the brunette just has her fork in her mouth and theres barely anything on her plate! most of them are just holding the spoon for the camera. wayy funny. if anything they prolly just took one bite

  10. thinspired says:

Actually, a LOT of people are naturally thin. It really depends on where you are. Normal people are naturally thin, though, not Miss America contestants.

But I agree, salads are good for dinner. No one should have to hide that.

  11. Sierra says:

Ugh I don’t know why they would ever try to promote eating, especially in that disgusting way- if you ever starve sufficiently enough to eat pasta, please don’t stuff it into your mouth like some drunk fatass, we don’t need to see that.
Doubt they actually eat like that though- except maybe for Miss Nebraska, look at her arms!

  12. Elle says:

One thing I have noticed with naturally thin people is they usually don’t have the best muscle tone. Mostly because they don’t need to work out to stay thin. So basically if you see a really toned and skinny girl who says she’s naturally thin she’s probably not telling you the whole truth.
    Anyway, back on topic.
I had the misfortune of meeting a beauty pageant girl at a dinner party. Needles to say after she was having a bulimic episode in the bathroom.
    They’re all weird.

  13. Gabriella says:

Soo true! I hate the hypocrisy of models, actresses, etc! Most are NOT naturally thin. Case in point is also on here. Many girls ask how many calories the other girls eat, and many people do not respond. I eat 1,100 and I am on my feet 12 hours a day at work. But I have noticed very few people actually answer that question. I don’t think there is any shame in eating salads for dinner or being on a low calorie diet. Xo. Ps: Skinny gurl- love the site. Don’t agree all the time about how “thin” people “should be” or what looks “good” but I love your honesty (great example is this post;)

  14. Anya says:

lol, they look so fake and cheap in these photos it’s hilarious.. reminds me of those skanky carls jr. ads.. I think it’s mainly to try to turn on guys but it just looks really tasteless and gross. seriously, I can already see them throwing up in the bathroom, lol. Bulemics aren’t even skinny usually (from what I’ve read), most of the time they’re average or even overweight.

@Elle – I agree, when I was younger I was naturally super-thin with no muscle and I ate like a 300-lb man, but when I was around 15/16 my metabolism started slowing down so I had to exercise like crazy and eat low carb for a while. I got really ripped but people thought I was anorexic. I definitely wasn’t anorexic, but I wasn’t completely “naturally thin” because I did have to exercise a lot and watch my diet to look like that.

  15. Gabby says:

Oh my god they are just telling fat people that eating this kind of food makes u skinny… pfff hahaha Yes It is true that some girls are naturally skinny but after 18 ur body is a woman’s body therefore u cant be as skinny…
Anyways.. any good tips for me? ahha bassicaly i lost 4 kg in 1 month but now it takes longer to loose them how can i loose them as fast?? PLEASE SOMEONE ANSWER :) ahaha
    xxx

  16. gelabela says:

It is me or did these pictures make you sick? lol These pics make me want to skip lunch .. gross

  17. Chloe says:

Many people are naturally thin. However these Miss USA contestants are not thin in the first place so i do believe that’s what they ate. I couldn’t even find a single skinny contestant when I looked through pics of all FIFTY of them. Perhaps I’m too critical of others like how I am of myself?

And when I got to Miss District of Columbia. Oh dear. http://www.examiner.com/x-12090-Pageant-Examiner~y2010m5d24-Miss-District-of-Columbia-USA-2010-MacKenzie-Green–bikini-pictures

Maybe the pageant is less about bodies and more about beauty on the inside…or answering questions?!

  18. Chloe says:

@Gabby did you lose 4kg through diet only or exercise as well? If you didn’t exercise, now’s the time to start. If you want to quicken the process, you can cut calories further, but exercise is vital so that your metabolism doesn’t slow down too much. 1kg per week is a great pace though, keep it up and don’t hasten the pace :)

  19. Elle says:

    @Chloe – I’m scared now.

  20. karlie k says:

@Anne- I’m sorry to hear about the medications:( But I’m glad you visit this site alot. It’s a good site to show that being skinny is a lifestyle, yet it doesn’t promote eating disorders like all the others. I think if you just follow the tips from skinny gurl you’ll stay slim!

  21. Victoria N says:

@Anne-Oh i feel bad now about the comment! It must be tough because your on medication

  22. gelabela says:

@Anne Sorry to hear about the difficulties but one thing I’ve learned is to try to do it slowly. Take baby steps. Try to train yourself to not want the “bad” foods anymore. I constantly eat throughout my day but I make sure everything I eat is healthy food and I make sure I eat to be nourished and not uncomfortably full. Don’t rush it! You’ll end up on the same yo yo dieting. If you take it little by little it will eventually become a lifestyle. Good luck!

  23. millliondollarbaby says:

    @karlie k
I am totally jealous of your weight loss! Could you possibly share a sample meal plan? I am on summer vaca and destined to lose as much as I can

  24. karlie k says:

@milliondollarbaby- haha thanks(: and i usually eat like:
    breakfast:cereal w/almond milk (250); coffee(10)
    Lunch: salad w/ tofu(340) apple(80)
    snack : carrots w/ tpsn of pb(150)
    dinner:bean and rice burrito(350) chai tea w/ alm milk(50)

  25. thinspired says:

So many models are naturally thin. A lot are not, though.

  26. 00girl says:

so this is like reverse thinspo…ewww, why do they feel the need to pretend, its not like anyone cares if they eat or not as long as they look ok

  27. milliondollarbaby says:

    @karlie k
well that seems easy enough!! Thanks a billion!!

  28. Gabby says:

@Chloe- I used to be very fit and well i still am but as i dont have that much energy i dont jogg every night.. i’m now gonna do it more often. But dont u think that i will look bigger if i have muscles??
    xx

  29. Dr. Shrink says:

I feel like most advertising ploys are untruthful, but I am offended by both Bucca di Beppo and the Miss USA franchise for this dishonest and unappealing layout. I would have appreciated seeing what non-bulimic contestants would have really ordered, so that I could have confidence that the establishment would have a healthy choice for those trying to be skinny. We have a Bucca in Dallas, but I will never go there because of this.

  30. cass says:

Sadly, I feel like I have to hide my eating habits from everyone, mainly because the majority of my friends love steak and ice-cream, constantly, and going back for seconds, etc etc.
And my family are the typical overweight parents, junk-food-eating siblings, etc. If you’re eating healthy, or trying to lose weight by doing so, you’re weird.
These pics, being so obviously advertorial, don’t upset me as much as when you read celebs saying they eat whatever they like, or don’t diet, blah blah blah. It’s such crap!
I’m not quite sure how to say the next part, but I just wanted to touch on bulimia (obviously a part of this post). No one has said anything negatively about bulimics yet, but even so I just wanted to remind people it’s a mental illness. My best friend became bulimics after quite severe anorexia, and I know how scary it can be. It’s not a “quick fix” at all, and ‘proper’ bulimia is not a choice.
Sorry, just wanted to say that.
Anyway, on a different note, these “beauty queens” have just convinced me I don’t ever want pasta again! Haha

  31. Abbey says:

Ew… most of these girls are NOT what I would call “skinny”. They have their arms clutched to their sides (BAD idea) which shows all of the fat–and its a lot! And their whitened teeth, professionally done hair and makeup, and very well put together outfits make me want to BARF! JEEZE! Isn’t at least ONE of these girls genuine and their own person? Guess not.

  32. Katie says:

I find picture 7 the funniest!

How can anyone enjoy their food standing up – not even straight and with a camera in your face…?

  33. Hailey says:

Alright so just for the record, when you say people can’t be naturally thin, there is some truth to that but then again there’s not. It is very true that you can’t eat buckloads of fries or pizza and not gain weight. However just because there are people who are very skinny, don’t always assume that they are on some crazy diet or throwing up everything they eat.

A friend of mine is extremely skinny. She went to a summer “dance camp” (I guess you could call it that) with me. She was basically all bones and very little muscle. The thing is that she loves to eat and she proudly says so. She will eat pizza and donuts and whatnot, yet she is still as skinny as a twig. So, I think there is such a thing as people having a “fast metabolism” but I do think that dancing so much does help (although we all dance alot and are not as skinny as her)

  34. Lacei says:

They look so fake, like bleach-blond food tramps.

  35. LegsDrama says:

They are so annoying with their crest fake smile
