Here is the lovely Ginta Lapina in the June/July 2010 issue of Harper’s Bazaar.  The editorial is titled The Season’s Riches and the photographer was Greg Kadel.

Ginta Lapina: Harper's Bazaar - June/July 2010

I think Ginta looks great.  She’s definitely not one of the skinniest models but she photographs very well.  I like seeing her in editorials because it suits her body type best and hides the little extra weight she carries when compared to skinnies like Anabela and Vlada.  I love the picture featured above, we get to see her mid-section which is looking pretty good.  Ginta has one of my favorite looks, I just wish was a little skinnier.  I’m sure we would see her walking in a lot more shows if she lost a few pounds.

Love her waist in #2 #5 and especially #7. #7 leaves so much to the imagination. Small waists look so sexy on a model.

  2. thinspired says:

    I’m lovvvvvvving these outfits!

  3. D.K. Lindon says:

Ginta is definitely one of my favorites. You’re right that she’s skinny but not super skinny – but I think she looks great. I like how shapely her legs are in picture 6.

Who knows, she could pull an Abbey Lee on us and show up super skinny out of nowhere all of a sudden!

  4. Gabby says:

gorgeouusss!! I’m 1m63 and now 48 kg how much should i loose? i have 4 weeks to do it and i can manage with 500 or 400 kcal a day

  5. Victoria N says:

Wait, haha I just can’t seem to read your entry right Gabby. Are you 63 kg now?

  6. D.K. Lindon says:

@ Victoria – I think Gabby is saying that she’s 163 centimeters and 48 kg now. (That’s 5’4″, 105 lbs, so it sounds like she’s pretty similar to me.)

  7. Pippi says:

She might not be the skinniest model out there, but I just love her expressions in some of the photos; she looks so playful and and maybe just a little be mischevious. Seeing her made me smile!

I’m just staring to diet and I’d appreciate everybody’s input and advice. At the moment I’m 5ft 4 and 130lbs (I know, I know, but I carry a lot of it in my natural EE cup breasts). I’m eating 1300 kcal/day (none of it junk food/fat, no starchy carbs, lots of veggies, protein and calcium) and am drinking lots of water and green tea. Unfotunately I can’t exercise due to a bad back.

    What do you all think?

  8. Victoria N says:

@pippi- That sounds like a great diet that you will lose alot of weight on! keep me updated(:
    D.k. Lindon- thanks for clarifying!
Gabby-Why do you have to lose weight in 4 weeks?(just wondering), but I would try to lose like 8-10 lbs because that’s like at a steady pace

  9. Gabby says:

Hahahaha yes im 63kg!! Ommgg of course not,, so yes victoria, im lime u, wat is ur aim??
Dont worry pipí just mame sur u eta lees everything week nexo week aim foro 1100 and so on

  10. Pippi says:

Thank you Gabby and Victoria for the advice and encouragement!

Reducing my calories gradually sounds like a great idea; my appetite is already decreasing and I don’t think that switching to just 2 meals a day is going to be that difficult. I plan on having breakfast (to rev up my metabolism), and then dinner, so that I have a meal to look forward to at lunchtime. I’m also thinking of doing a cleansing fast once a week.

What do you think sounds like a good goal weight for me?

  11. D.K. Lindon says:

@ Pippi – Well, this is a lot of guesswork, since we don’t really know your bone structure or body type, but 95-ish sounds pretty ideal. Of course, dropping thirty-five pounds sounds like a huge undertaking – so, for now, just focus on one pound at a time. The last thing you want to do is shock your body so badly that it fights to store every calorie you take in. I’m also 5’4″, so I know how difficult it is to look skinny at that height.

Here’s some encouragement: At my heaviest, I hit about 133 pounds (I’d been going through a really rough time, and I reacted very badly to hormonal birth control). I’m currently at 107. I’m not quite at my goal, but I’m a heck of a lot closer. If I can do it, so can you.

I’m very, very sorry to hear about your back, and truly hope you manage to find some treatment that works for you. I’ve had friends that have undergone back surgery, and it’s absolutely grueling. That being said, what level of exertion can you take? I imagine that running is basically out of the question, but can you handle walking on a treadmill? Also, a lot of people with back problems use recumbent bikes to exercise – they tend not to put a lot of strain on your back. Would something like that work? The point is, if you can find some physical activity that doesn’t put too much strain on your back, you should go for it. Just be careful so as not to injure yourself further.

Having a light, healthy breakfast is definitely a good idea – as is a weekly cleansing fast. Just make sure to drink extra water on those fasting days. You’d be amazed how energized you feel when your body has a chance to clean out all the crap it’s accumulated!

In any event, the tips on this website are enormously helpful. The whole Skinny Gossip community tends to be very supportive.

  12. tna says:

@Pippi – I have a back problem too and a tendency for tendinitis in my knees and feet so I have a hard time with high impact workouts. I’ve recently started rollerblading. I also see a physical therapist for my back and have learned a couple of upper body workouts that aren’t strenuous and help build some muscle tone in your arms. Wall pushups are great (as long as you keep your shoulder blades together and keep your hands in line with your shoulders so as not to injure yourself). Constant light stretching can also be immensely helpful in boosting energy and reducing pain for me.

Sorry I know you weren’t really asking for tips on exercise or stretching but I just wanted to say I feel your pain.
    :)
    Good luck!

  13. Gabby says:

@Victoria N: because in 4 weeks i finish college and when i’m home i can’t diet… haha and im going to america for half of the summer and i dnt think america is a great place to diet lol. yeah i really hope i get to be abt 44 kg but being so short… we never look super thin, only if we are freaking starving which i dont do. Thanks anywayss :)

  14. Pippi says:

Thanks for being so understanding – a lot of people my age just don’t get that back problems aren’t just for grannies! I’m sorry to hear about your knees and back tna; I know just how agonisingly painful these sorts of things can be.

Before I hurt my back I actually used to be a lot skinnier (God how I miss my xylophone *sigh :( ) but a combination of being bed-ridden and taking hormonal birth control (seriously bad decision; I feel your pain D.K. Lindon) pretty much ruined me. Being injured like that meant that I had to rely on other people to bring me my meals, and they could see what I was eating (aaaargh!). Often though I just felt so horribly nihilistic about life (I thought I’d never leave the house again at some points) that I just automatically ate whatever garbage was put in front of me.

Anyway, now that I’m more mobile, my life and skinny goals are starting to get back on track, although I worry about provoking a relapse via exercise, and then ending up even worse than before! But hearing about D.K. Linton’s amazing success story (many very-well deserved congratulations! :) ) is very motivating, as your stats are so close to my own. Also the suggestions are very helpful. I now plan on buying a calorie-counting pedometer and going for walks; even if I have to go slowly a calorie burned is still a calorie burned, and each one takes me cloer to my goal. I also plan on asking my physio for some appropriate upper body exercises, so thanks for the great suggestions everyone. :)

  15. D.K. Lindon says:

@ Pippi – No problem, hon. Good luck. And thanks for the congrats – I appreciate it. It sounds like you’re naturally inclined to be on the thinner side anyway, which should help as you start getting back to normal. (Again, I was in the same boat – but my prominent clavicle is back now.)

And yeah, a lot of people react well to the birth control pill, but a substantial minority react badly. Don’t beat yourself up for trying it – you figured out it wasn’t for you, now you can look at other options. Luckily, there are other, nonhormal forms of birth control out there. Once your body has settled down some, I’d go talk to your gyno about options like the nonhormal IUD. (Of course, you should be using condoms unless you’re in a monogamous relationship with someone you trust – even if you don’t get pregnant, the last thing you want is an STI from some skeezy guy.)

  16. karlie k says:

@Gabby- OMG thats stinks:(. I’m 118 rigth now (at 5’9″) but I would like to get back down to 110ish

  17. karlie k says:

@ Gabby- p.s. I like went down to 118 with this veggie juice cleanse I’ve been doing. So i would reccomend that

  18. cass says:

I love pics 2 and 7, she looks great!
@Pippi – hang in there babe, you can totally do it!
@D.K. Lindon – What was your diet like during 133-107? And congratulations on the weight loss!
@Gabby – I know what it’s like not being able to diet at home, and I still live at home =( Good luck with your goals, you can totally do it! =) Being short makes it harder, but when you reach your goal you will look fabulous =)
    Hope all are well! X

  19. Pippi says:

Hey D.K. Lindon thanks for all your great advice. I really appreciate it! :)

Now more than ever I’m convinced we should have forums so that we can all help each other out…

  20. cass says:

@Pippi the forums will be great =) But I like how we all communicate through comments now… the posts always lead to interesting conversations and I like hearing from everyone.

  21. Tinuviel says:

    Hey everyone,

I’ve been reading this site for a while but never had the courage to comment. I quite like it, though I don’t agree with everything (especially some of the starving tips, they can be very unhealthy).

My problem is my legs and buttocks, all my weight accumulates there and it is almost impossible for me to get rid of it. My upper part is skinny, though not super skinny yet, but I have very visible collar bones, ribs, backbone and even a xylophone. And then I have the worst thunder thighs ever, and my shins are extra fat too. I just can’t get rid of them, working out only makes them bigger and if I starve I lose even more weight in my upper part. I’m 5’7” and about 115 pounds, I’d like to lose another 10 pounds at least, but I just can’t make them be from my lower part :( I run and walk a lot, but it doesn’t help with my legs at all. What to do? I’d be happy even with normal to skinny legs. Right now they seem even fatter in comparison to my skinny upper part.

  22. Tinuviel says:

I forgot to mention, I want to achieve skinny AND healthy, so no smoking, overdosing on caffeine or excessive starvation. I’m a vegetarian, eat lots of fresh vegetables and fruit, almost no carbs such as pasta or rice etc., though I can’t resist some chocolate about twice a week. I never eat much and always 70% chocolate though. I drink green tea, but not coffe, run 3 times a week and have long walks the other days to give my joints a chance to rest.

  23. cass says:

Hi Tinuviel, congrats on getting the courage to comment =)
I know what you mean, my problem areas are my thighs and butt as well. I think you sound very healthy – that’s a great thing. You eat very healthy, etc, and seem to have a strong idea of what you’re aiming for, etc.
What might be contributing to your shins/thighs could be all the running and walking – are your legs all muscle? If so, I guess the only way to help that would be to do more upper-body training and less running etc.
Good luck! I’m jealous of your stats!
    Xx

  24. Gabby says:

@ karlie: what stinks? And how do u do the veggie juice cleanse, Like for how long did u do it and how much did u loose? Thankxxx

  25. karlie k says:

@Gabby- oh that you can’t diet when you get home from college haha. Well I was at 127 and I went on vacation this past week where noone had to monitor my eating habits. I stopped now because I’m back home, but I lost 8lbs. I did this in a typical day:
    Breakfast-Blended blueberries, strawberries, and bananas
    Lunch-a bottle of carrot juice
    dinner-blended green veggies,

    Hoped this helpss(:

  26. Gabby says:

@karlie: ohh sounds really good thanxxxx :) i now have to finish some tomatoes do u think i should have in the morning like a hanfull of blueberrys and cherries and in lunch 2 tomatoes and in dinner one?

  27. karlie k says:

@Gabby- Yeah, I think whatever works best for you. do you eat like the tomatoes like raw by themselves>

  28. Gabby says:

yes i cut them and put a bit of salt but like almost nothing, do u knw anything that has shiiiit loads of fiber??

  29. karlie k says:

Omg that’s so lucky you can eat them almost raw. Don’t worry, you’ll lose a tonn of weight(:

  30. D.K. Lindon says:

@ Cass – Nothing too extreme, actually. Lots of veggies, moderate amounts of lean protein, smaller meals, very occasional desserts, and LOTS of water. Probably around 1200-1300 cal. a day, on average. Taking a multivitamin (usually One A Day Women’s, which is enhanced with calcium) helps a lot – if you are getting enough nutrients, it makes your body believe it isn’t starving, so it won’t fight to keep every calorie you consume and kill your metabolism. I also did cleansing fasts every once in a while, but not as often as Pippi is doing – more like once every two weeks for me. I will admit, I’m kind of a coffee addict – but I didn’t get into coffee for weight loss. I’m just not much of a morning person. :-P

And, of course, thanks so much for the congrats!

  31. cass says:

@D. K. Lindon – It’s actually really inpsiring to hear that you ate ‘that much’ when losing the weight. Normally it would be 500 cals or whatever. I try to stay under 1000 (but preferably 700) most days, so this is great news =) You sound really healthy! =)
I’m the worst when it comes to taking multi-vitamins, I’m lucky to remember to take them once a week, but you’ve just inspired me to take them regularly =)
Coffee is amazing =) I’m trying to teach myself to drink it black. I like mine fancy, with non-fat milk etc. When I was younger I wouldn’t drink tea unless it had heaps of sugar (like, 7 teaspoons (yeah I was pretty greedy) and heaps of milk), but now I drink it no milk, no sugar, so I’m sure I can train myself =) I love it too much to give up completely lol.
No worries! Any amazing effort like that deserves congratulations =)
And thanks for sharing that all with me! Cheers =)

  32. holly says:

@karlie k- my stats are like exactly like yours! i am about 5’10 and 118 pounds. I really wanna get down to like 108 or so, maybe even a little lower. Do you think i could lose 10 pounds in a month?

  33. D.K. Lindon says:

@ Cass – Oh, yeah, I should’ve mentioned that I always drink my coffee black. That’s just how I like it. I got trained from an early age to believe that coffee only counts as coffee without cream or sugar – my parents are weird. :-P

The only thing with the 1200-1300 calorie diet is that I’ve definitely plateaued here. I think I’m gonna need to cut out an additional 300-ish calories and up the ante on exercise if I want to get down to 95-ish (I’ve got a nice collarbone going now, but the xylophone is definitely going to take some extra effort). But, again, that’s WAY more manageable than trying to get there from 133.

@ Holly – Wow, your stats are great! Good luck getting down to 108.

  34. Karlie k says:

@Holly- Yeah totally! I was reading about this diet called “calorie shifting”, but I don’t know if its ligit, but it said you could llose 12 lbs in a month.

  35. Gabby says:

@karlie k- i went to check what do u do in the calorie shifting but it doesnt say what u have to eat… can u tell me pls

  36. holly says:

supposedly the site http://www.yayfood.com has plans for calorie cycling. I found a post where someone said they started at 900 cals per day and then went up 200 hundred calories for 2 days (1,100) and then down the next two days (700) and then 900 the next two days, and so on. PLUS they were exercising and hour every day. They said they were losing a ton of weight! dunno if it works but it seems pretty reasonable because it it constantly keeping your metabolism humming.

  37. karlie k says:

    @holly- thx for explaining it
@gabby- Holly explained it pretty good, but you can also do the 2468 diet which is rotation of four days eating 200-400-600-800.
(Btw, on the comments for the 2468 diet, everyone was saying it was proana, so becareful if you try it)
