Oh man, she was one of my biggest thinspos in high school when The OC was on!

her body was to die for in the OC. it was pretty much the main reason i watched it. so sad that she got so fat. shes a real beauty.

Sad. I wonder if Mischa needs a combo of the blood type diet whatever weight loss pill she used to be on. Whatever she is doing now obviously does not work and no, I doubt she will ever be that skinny again having let her fat cells get the upper hand. She likely has toxic build up that needs to be cleansed from wheat and dairy- it's like a reverb- the gift that keeps giving.

Gosh that pic showing her huge double chin looks like a completely different person! I used to think she could be a model when i watched The OC. This girl is not made to be huge, I agree with the girls who said that her body just looks wrong. She has tiny bones I think, especially her arms and shoulders and her belly are showing that. What the hell is this woman eating? I can only repeat myself..such a beautiful face but her body is a mess. Her legs look better when it comes to the massive cellulite I saw on her a while ago, but she definately has to work on them, get them toned. She´s wasting her potential. Hope she can sort things out. Its sad, I remember back in the days when I first saw OC and thought she is sooooo thin and wow, back then I thought its all natural. I never get what the hell is going on with her body! I go between thinking she has a thin frame and just eats too much (like some people here think) or else she has a propensity for being chubby which she has trouble fighting. Either way, though, I think what she really needs is more exercise. She strikes me as one of those people who goes from chubby to skinny-fat without any good medium. Blegh. the way she gains weight is so unlucky for her, her legs look totally different, you wouldn't expect her to be able to look like a natural skinny, very tiny person..

You know, this thread could actually be really inspiring for anyone who is really trying to lose weight though... if Mischa could look so good skinny and so awful fat, there may be a lot of potential super models out there just hiding under that last 15-20 (or 40 in Mischa's case) pounds!

At this point, it is not just her weight that's compromised. It would be a good start to work on the weight, but look at her teeth, posture, hair, and skin. Everything has really gone down the gutter. Mischa Barton is in need of a massive overhaul to get back to her glory days.

Even though she has slimmed down according to the new skinny v. curvy photos, Mischa's still haggard look really proves that skinny is not a diet, but a lifestyle.

I'm absolutely certain that there's a detailed story behind all of this that we're just not getting because she's not trying to make her personal issues public, and the media is just not all that interested in going after problems her anymore. Maybe she has some serious health issues that cause her to gain weight?

One thing is pretty obvious -
She spent part of her teen years under a lot of pressure to stay very thin, to stay in character, and to be this "it girl" that she was. At that point, she probably developed a really desperate relationship with food. When her role on the OC was cut, it could have triggered some sort of internal crisis for her, signifying that she was going to lose everything and be nothing without the OC (which is kind of what happened to her career). That may have caused her to turn to food for comfort. Or maybe, when the OC was over, she felt like the pressure to be thin was finally off, and she wanted to make up for all the food she missed when she was starving... :(

I'm just speculating based on how I would feel if I were in her shoes.

I think she suffers from depression. It would explain her weight fluctuations especially if she is on medication. It would also explain her forced facial expression seeing as it is hard to feel genuine on anti depressants.

It's impossible she's 34-24-34 cuz she's a pear shape, her hips are quite wide and her upper body is quite small and she almost has no boobs. Also, her weight fluctuates a lot, so I'd definetely say that's not accurate at all.

She is DEFINITELY not skinny any more. That being said, obviously the so called "MODERN WOMEN" look still can get an actress work. I feel like she wouldn't look 1/2 as hideous if she had a stylist that made her into something that played up her looks and, well, her rear end now I suppose, and an agent or other type of manager that kept her chained to her den until she was properly dressed and made her practice her 'art' more. Anyway, maybe she really isn't relevant enough anymore to have anyone (let alone herself) worry about her image or career!

not that jessica simp son's a prime example of skinny.. but you can she's restricted in the past (dukes of hazard) and food is hard for her. so when she got pregnant, she used it as an excuse to eat whatever she wanted, like a lot of women do.. except in her case, she went waaaayyy overboard because she had to stay skinnier that was easy for her in her early years.

I guess sudden fame, hard partying and "living the high life" can really make you perspective.. and I guess at some point she needed a break maybe, so she quit the OC and then had to realise that she wasn't as important anymore..

I mean this girl seems to struggle so hard to lose weight but never makes it- (remember, she ballooned up, then two months later she's at the red carpet with 20lbs less and after three weeks she's photographed with 27lbs more etc..)

Good point. I often think this when someone who was tiny suddenly becomes normal sized. They just realize their health (and in some cases their sanity) takes priority. In the long run I do think gaining weight is better than ending up in a serious substance addiction/rehab/eating disorder.

"Slow metabolism" is a rubbish excuse; most overweight and obese people have a higher basal metabolic rate than the average because of the greater skin surface area available for heat loss, carrying extra weight, etc. Yes, it isn't as fast post-puberty but that doesn't create a justification for mass gain; you have to fuel growth.

Sorry, but I agree with Zerodiet. Metabolism slowing down, would result in a more natural progression of weight gain. It can happen pretty quick but not like this. It doesn't happen like that unless there is actually something wrong, an underlying disorder or something. There is no way the body would allow that. Sorry, but I think she's eating wayyyyy too much. Also, other previous posts suggest she's struggling with her weight, at one point she's trying to lose weight and now she's ballooned up.

Yes ZeroDiet and classichic! Her weight has fluctuated, it hasn't just gone gradually up, you don't 'yo yo' after a metabolism change. And if your metabolism slowed down that dramatically and you were ever in control and healthy towards food in the first place, you would adjust your intake and work outs accordingly to maintain a healthier weight. But no, girl has issues from the looks of it.

Oh, Yes she did!

I have all O.C. episodes on DVD. And it is very noticeable she was bigger (close to normal!) in the first episodes...

Then she went thinner and I guess she ruined her metabolism or her 'natural thinness' by doing that for the series :(

But she looked sooo goood... especially in the middle of the series...but I guess it was also a matter of smart camera angles when it came to her face and expression ...also clothing was good.

You can also see she gained towards the end...

I actually think her face looks all right considering her weight :meh: I mean, her face still has a shape (although the sleek hair definitely helps). If I were that chunky, my face would be a moon bounce. She doesn't even have a true double chin (I think the camera angle exaggerates it a bit). In conclusion, eff my lack of facial structure.

I wonder if she was prescribed steroids for something? That sort of weight gain doesn't seem normal.

I think that most clothing choices look better on thinner girls but I have to agree, when a lot of girls gain weight there seems to be a correlation with their sense of style decreasing. Sad yet I don't understand because when I put on weight, i tried to dress to accommodate it :confused:

I've just been thinking about the same thing and have a theory. When I'm skinny I'm usually in a good place mentally, I'm happy that I look good and spend more time trying to look perfect and choosing right clothes. But when I'm average, I usually have no energy, get depressed and don't care that much if I'm dressed well (granted, it never was bad enough for me to dress like she does :nopity:). Getting skinny takes enough effort to make me want to look good overall, so I imagine that if other people feel in a similar way, but weigh as much as Mischa, then maybe they don't see the point in dressing well.

People say they think I'm imagining thing when I say I've gained weight and usually I don't believe them, but when my own mother says it (and trust me, my mum never butters up her opinion when it comes to how I look) I realise how good I am at dressing thin.
