We all know how hard it can be to stay on track with family and friends around pressuring us to stuff our faces. It’s just as hard for me so I wanted to do a quick post to help us all “recover” from any damage we’ve done to our skinny plans over the holiday.
To those of you who had the self-discipline to stay away from most of the junk: hats off to you!! I did alright – I managed to behave myself most of the time but I admit I didn’t do as well as I would like. So I’m not super-proud, but not really pissed at myself either.
And for those of you who let yourselves go a bit too far this weekend – if you messed up and you’re feeling a bit gross/bad about your overindulgence, here’s some support from me to you, depending on what works best. I know some of you are really motivated by positive stuff and some are much more motivated by the negative. So there’s a paragraph for both types – please read the one that applies to you and skip the other.
If you’ve stayed on track over the holiday, then pat yourself on the back, skip them both – and enjoy the thinspo!
Positive Motivation
We all sometimes make mistakes, you can’t get down on yourself for every single one – or you’ll never feel like things are on the right track. Besides, it’s Christmas, for goodness sake! For me it was a great opportunity to spend time with family and, yes, I admit – sneak a few yummies in here and there. It’s just one day. Let it help you focus on your long-term goals. That’s what it’s doing for me. I feel like I might have gained a couple pounds, too – so I’m right there with you. Just let it help you focus on what you’re going to do when the holiday is over: get back on track and at your skinny best!
Negative Motivation
I don’t care if it’s Christmas or Hanukkah or whatever – if you’re going to be strong and keep control of your weight, you can’t be swayed by every little party or holiday that comes along. Quite honestly, people who always find an excuse to lean on really bother me. It’s like the people who say they are “big boned” or being fat is in their genes. No, it’s about what you put in your mouth and I’m sorry (ok, I’m not sorry), but it’s just weak. Stuffing your face like a hog just like the rest of them makes you just as gross as they are. I thought – just based on the fact that you were a Skinny Gossip reader – that you would be better than that? I’m really disappointed.

I recently lost some weight and felt SUPER observed at dinner last night. So it worked out great because i was very conscious of what I was eating and how. I enjoyed the celebrations a lot, but I think that was the wine.

I’m very proud of the way I went through the christmas lunch, dinners, coffee breaks…;)
I weight 98 pounds and I’m 5’4. The secret to reach my goal came from my favorite thinspo, victoria beckham.
The three bites diet! I ate only three bites of all the delicious christmas things. and I didn’t gain a pound!it works, even if it occurs a lot of self control…
I also drink a lot of teas, and when I’ m very hungry I eat a handful almonds or a tbs of sunflower seeds. believe in me, you won’t gain a pound if you do this way? (and possibly you’ll lose some.) My daily calories intake is between 500 and 700!

I gain 2 pounds, I am 105 pounds now and 5’5 tall.
You are probably much younger (I am 24) than me and I think my metabolism is screwed. I lost in the last month 2 pounds and I gained it all after the Christmas:(

I was wondering how much weight you girls lose on average per week or month when you decide to lose weight?? It’s been a little while that I’m trying to lose weight and so far it’s okay I guess; slowly but surely. The thing is that I don’t understand why, but it always goes up and down. I lose 3 pounds, I gain one back. Then I lose 2 pounds, and gain some again. It never just go down :s Do you know what I could do to improve my weight loss and make it more stable?
My goal is to lose around 20-25 pounds from now on to let’s say the month of June, this summer. Is that an achievable goal? I mean I still have a couple of months so I guess it’s not that much of a drastic change..

When you’ve been restricting your body from food for so long, you stop losing weight. It’s like when you buy a new shampoo/face cream. It might work amazingly the first 10 times but after that the shampoo doesn’t have an effect because your hair is used to it.
In the case of weight loss, your body realises that you’re not going to give it any food and so it stops burning food off and starts storing it up as fat. To stop your metabolism from slowing down like this, have a binge every two weeks where you eat pasta, bread, chocolates upto 1500 calories, this kickstarts your metabolism so that you can start the weight loss cycle all over again. MAKE SURE YOU DON’T EAT OVER 1500 CALORIES
I agree with you, Sasha. Have an all-out, eat-slices-of-red-velvet-cake once a week, and your metabolism will spike, helping you lose weight.
The only thing I would disagree on is that I usually binge about 2000-3000 calories; it still doesn’t affect my weight as long as I diet the rest of the week, but then again, I lose about 5 pounds a week when I eat 1300-1600 kcals a day. So whatever floats your boat.
Well, I’m sure that I ate more than I should have last night – at dinnertime I did pretty well (mostly veggies, a little salmon, and a stuffie), but I munched a little before dinner and then gave into the sweets after. HOWEVER, that was the only time this year that I actually indulged like that – even on Thanksgiving I stayed around the 1400 calorie range, which is good for a feast day.
Anyways, for the next 10 days (starting today), I’m doing the Master Cleanse (better known as the lemonade diet). Last year I did the same thing and lose around 7 pounds – and I kept it off all year, even.
That’s another thing . . . I’ve noticed that when there are a few days that I eat more calories, I lose weight. I’m 5’10 and am normally about 130 pounds (goal is 118), but lately (in spite of the holiday sweets and whatnot), I’ve been weighing in at around 127. So whatever . . .
Yay, 9(ish) pounds to go!
This is really what i needed! people are always pressuring me to eat but especially at Christmas. It was really great to get some thinspo for over the holidays and no doubt i will come back to this for some more motivation! Thank you so much Skinny Gurl! XOXO
For my christmas i did OK i guess me and my cousin were piggin out on broccoli and other veggies (which was ok), but then i had to eat lunch ,dinner ,and dessert.
god i can barely go half a day without food

Drink green tea or black coffee if you get hungry. If you have an Asian food store nearby, buy a tub of miso paste. 1 tablespoon makes a full bowl of miso soup (just add hot water) and it fills you up for less than 30 calories.

Oh I needed this so much! I pigged out a lot over the holidays
But I tried to dance as much as I could to burn the cals that I ate, so I hope the damage wasn’t too much.
I want to lose the 10kgs I gained since hitting my lowest weight. I hope to get there by June 2012. I just learned my office has a free gym; I’m going to put in 30 mins of running everyday at lunch time instead of having a full meal. I also stocked my office drawer full of organic green tea bags, unflavored rice cakes and I’m going to bring in cut fruit and veggies to snack on everyday.
Here’s to a skinny 2012!!

Yeah, I actually survived the Christmas days without gaining weight! I just needed to tell that to someone who doesn´t give me the “WTF is wrong with you”-look, I know you skinny gurls are not the ones who see Christmas as an excuse to pig out!
I didn’t do so good. It’s not that I gained weight (only .3 of a pound) but I’m just that I’m used to eating more now. I’d love to be 100 pounds by mid-january, but I’m going on a trip which probably involves my parents stuffing my face. Any tips on loosing 3 pounds in 2 days? Or even how to loose weight on vacation? The three day diet is great! It can make you loose up to 10 lbs in 3 days……so 3 in 2 days on this diet would be achievable. Plus it is super easy and you get to eat a lot!
oh Skinny Gurl, thank you thank you for all your thinspo. You are the best. I am about 20lbs up on my goal weight and hoping to get half way there by mid January. Is this realistic? I want to be excited to be in a swim suit this year. Peaceful in my own skin. Any hot tips and skinny sugestions for any skinnies minnies out there would be much appreciated!!!

The problem: I ate too much bread. It’s those social situations where everyone pushes platters of finger food and insisting you try it, and they’re such tiny servings you think it’s ok, then suddenly you realize how full you actually are. Yuck. I have a trip in 4.5w weeks, I want to turn heads in my bikini, not look like a bloated turtle. I need to eat frequently too, or I get weak and cranky.
My plan: Fill up on water like crazy, drink tea, eat green salads with a little lemon juice, small portions of brown rice (with a little chilli or spice for a metabolism boost), caffeine pills, power walking, and never sit still, always fidgeting, tensing and stretching. Also getting plenty of sleep (also cuts down time I’m likely to binge out of boredom).
Helpful tips: fish oil capsules are amazing for my hair and skin, actually clears up my complexion and gives a healthy youthful glow. Important note: posture! standing correctly, tall with belly held in, streamlines my whole appearance. I don’t count calories, I just go by how my body feels, and remember what foods work for me.
I’m taking fish oils too! They are really, REALLY good for hair and skin and also, it helps boost serotonin levels so you don’t become insane and depressed from hunger.
You will be the skinniest babe at the beach!!

Congrats to everyone who stayed on track (I’m not amongst you, unfortunately).
It was time to spend Christmas at his familiy’s place this year – where I do the cooking over the holidays – and I actually lost weight the first few days until I put a giant crack into my mother-in-law’s cooker whilst preparing the meal…she was gracious, but still…suffice to say I let my good habits slip a bit.
My plan: I am NOT going to weigh myself until I have been ‘good’ as many days as I have been ‘bad’, that would be New Year’s Eve, because anything over 47kg (at 5’4 / 162cm) will have a negative effect on me and induce pure panic
I’m going to try and work on a negative calorie basis until then, by spending lots of quality time at the gym, which is where I’m off to right now. Okay, it’s not a nice experience to feel so bloated in the gym…but I’m not going to magically get skinny again, even if it is Christmas

Hi! I love your site, it’s so good for thin!! I want so much to be as thin as Vlada except now I am being very bad this year and I gained too much weight and I want to be thin again, like before. Before I was 45kg (I am 168cm so like 5’6or something) and I am now like 52kg. How do I lose weight forever fast?? i am living with my family until october and i have to eat the meals with them!! Help!
Hmmm… perhaps YOU cook meals some nights? then you can make sure the food is more healthy, and talk about how when you cook you end up eating half the ingredients before you’ve cooked them, so by the time it’s done you are already full.
- Tell them you’ve eaten out with some friends already.
-Perhaps suggest you may be developing a food allergy to whatever they cook a lot, like starchy foods or dairy (look up symptoms on the net).
-Leave dishes rinsed up on the sink so it looks like you already helped yourself to a snack.
- Try to keep conversations not about you around meal times. Find interesting gossip, facts, news stories, anything that would keep them well distracted from the food in front of you.
After a while they’ll get used to your habits, and it’ll all seem normal. I hope some of this helps is helpful…
Hi! I just wanted to post to say I really love this site. Im a current fat chick…(212, 5’5) who used to be skinny (112 ) and I find this site very motivational to getting back down to my skinny self.I love all the tips and tricks, and the thinspo. I keep going through this website every day and any time i get hungry… after seeing Vladas gorgous legs, I dont want to eat anymore. So far, Ive lost over 20lbs this month, which i am quiet proud of. I hope to be a skinny gurl myself soon.
(though.. I do know this is a site for skinny girls, so please dont make fun of me for my weight.. I know I am fat and Im working very very hard to become skinny again… thanks..)
Great job, Heather! I think it’s much easier to lose weight quickly when you have more to lose. It’s usually the last 10-20 lbs that are so hard to shift. I wish you all the best and I hope you reach your skinny goal healthily. Drink lots of green tea and water, and go high fibre and low calorie as much as possible.
Also, I agree that it’s easier to lose weight when you have more to lose. For example; if you are a 100lb person and you lose 5lbs – that’s 5% of your body weight and in the grand scheme of things that is a significant amount. Where as if you are a 200lbs person and you lose 5lbs – that’s only 2.5% Hope that makes sense : )
The biggest failure is not in losing, but in not trying.
Though, of course, losing is the desired effect for our case.
I believe that anyone have the right to be skinny even if that is not their current state as long as they embrace the skinny mindset (that really, sometimes we just wanna look better) or at the very least, not scoff on it.
Starting your journey is already a VERY brave and huge step! Good luck (:

They dislike the (good) message that skinnygurl sends – thin is better! No one here will judge you for wanting to lose weight because you are going to look amazing when you have! You know, its funny but some people think skinny girls are all mean and bitchy. Lol. If they are mean, it is because they know we can do much better. But so far, this site has been the most helpful on the net.
Other sites are blah blah blah talking about childhood issues “why you eat” and other crap. I just need some place that is like “yo! bitch, you can do better and this is how you do it right..”

Im going for a goal of 115-125 range. Its not super-skinny by any means,but my bone structure is fairly large.My stats at the 112 range were 36-23-40, and that was all bone. It looks weird if I go below that, like a bad Jennifer Love Hewett. Ewwww.

I have missed this site sooooo much. (Couldn’t get on bc my guy was in town most of Christmas). He flips out over the skinny thing and so was delighting in my failure to eat my normal amount. But anyways-im 4 days into all veggies! Not eating bread, sugar, or meat until at least the 21st at which point I am foregoing all commercially processed animal products (I can’t go vegan bc I hunt and occasionally make cheese).
this should help me. Hehe. “Oh I can’t eat ______ bc I’m boycotting the commercial meat industry” (which is true). Sorry for rambling. I can’t wait to weigh in on the 22nd! All fruits and veggies should be fool proof!

Sadly I’m not a super skinny girl, but on my way especially with the motivation from this site. Probably the most common range is 15-16 for fashion models, and 16-17 or a touch more for commercial models.
Hello skinny gurls!
Just wanted to say that I discovered this sight about a month ago and it has been AMAZING for my weight loss. I am a model (agency signed in SF and LA) 5’9″, and I used to be 33-26.5-38 and now I am 30.5-23.5-34.5! And my bmi has dropped from 18.5 to 16.5 (I used to be 126 pounds and am now 111, striving for 105)…anyways, I could not have accomplished this without this site! Keep up the great work everyone and stay skinny! =)
Also, my goal is to walk in NY Fashion Week this fall so maybe one day my pictures will be on this site?…haha cheers
It’s so refreshing seeing frequent posts again. I had a terrible time at Christmas, moving house twice in 10 days. Needless to say, the stress got to me and my eating was erratic. It was made worse by the fact that I knew I would gain witht the way things were, but there was so much disorganisation that I couldn’t stop and think for a minute. It was just one of those times when you just want to fall on the floor and cry in the middle of the street, but then living in London means people probably just run over you trying to catch the bus.
I’m only just starting to get myself together. I had the courage to weigh myself and I’m ashamed and so sad to see that I gained. What’s worse is that I injured my back with all the house moving that I did. I ignored it and carried on working out, now my back hurts so bad, but a part of me is so afraid to lose weight without exercise. I’ve never lost weight by diet alone, never tried it but i would love to, just working out makes me eat even more! Maybe not immediately but overall. I want to look so straight like models do, Anabela’s legs don’t look like they’ve ever seen a treadmill and have you seen Freja’s legs OMG, they could snap in two if you stare too long.
Has anyone ever tried losing by diet alone? Is thre hope in it?

Hope your back gets better, I have the same problem with my back previous injuries and now I have a desk job in a horrible chair. My back is in knots by the end of the day. (But I love my job) Anyways to answer to your question regarding losing weight with diet alone. I am so pro this! That is what I’m doing now and this allows me to be lazy, cut back on the eating. I change up the calorie intake once in awhile to kick start the metabolism. But I never have time anymore with my job to go and workout and if I do I’m tired or my back is stiff as a board. Also I don’t like how when I exercise I gain that extra muscle in my thighs and hips and then on the scale. If i do exercise its very low key like yoga. I hope this helps.
